Dawn of a... New Life?
Characters: Link
Setting: Around the tower. Don't see a prompt? Pick a spot and Link will find a reason to be there.
Format: I'm starting with prose, but whatever floats your boat is fine for threads
Summary: That newvictim person smell is fresh on this boy. As fresh as that ugly white jumpsuit he's still wearing.
Warnings: None. Will update as needed
Room 4-14
He was in the process of carefully sliding the edge of his sword up the side of his right leg to cut the cloth of the jumpsuit he wore. He'd already gotten most of the left leg cut off and cut into strips. He hadn't been able to rip the fabric - such a strange material - but he'd found the razor edge of his sword could slice it open just fine. With an unknown place like this, and none of his clothes anywhere in sight, including belts, Link would have to make something approximating them to carry what few possessions he had left.
There were two sheets of paper that looked like letters on the table next to him. His reading was terrible without the aid of a fairy and he only had a few of the word patterns memorized enough to recognize a few of the words written on them. The first, shorter one, he managed to make out "I saved you" with no issue - so he knew he'd been in trouble of some sort, even if he couldn't remember it - but there were some words he didn't know to recognize by rote between the shorter ones he did: 'world' and 'destroyed' and 'let's' and 'happy'. So while it was nice he'd been saved, it would have been nicer to have someone in the room to tell him what had happened and why he had the weird feeling collar and bodysuit on... and how to more easily get them off.Zippers? What are those?
Dormitories - Around the Stairwell
Now in a jumpsuit that had both legs and the right arm poorly chopped off and the remnants re-purposed as make-shift belts/straps to hold all five of his masks, the Ocarina of Time and his sword's sheath (slung across his back), Link was making his way up the ramp that circled the stairwell. The ramp only seemed to go up while the stairwell went down. Knowing that most dungeons required him to go up to get the keys he needed to go down, Link had decided that up was the smart way to go. If he had to change directions, he could and would. In his left hand was his sword and on his right arm was his shield - what would have been a medium sized one on any grown man, was absurdly large on the boy's 3ft frame. The humor of it marred, perhaps, by the horrified face etched into it's mirrored surface.
Cafeteria - First Meal
Link had managed to make his way to the very bottom of the tower - or as far as he could go, anyway - using the contraption called the 'elevator'. It was food store of some kind and that was great, because he was hungry, but all they had were something called 'nutrition bars' and oatmeal. Oatmeal was what Malon fed Epona as a treat. So it probably wasn't meant for people... which only led to him being very frustrated because the strange people who worked there kept trying to give him oatmeal instead of the nutrition bars. He didn't understand it at all and they wouldn't answer his questions, just repeat themselves when saying he should have oatmeal.
[[Edit: this has been resolved, but anyone who wants to find him in the cafeteria trying to convince the people to give him more oatmeal, is welcome to do so.]]

It does not matter which world it is. What I mean to say is that irregardless of the world, I would not believe anything these people say. I have read those notes. "Your world was destroyed, I saved you. Be happy here." But no one can be entirely happy here.
[ It's pretty obvious they're either in denial on this subject or just so embittered they won't let themselves see past it. ]
Not when all they do is experiment on innocent people, turn people into murderers against their will, and play mind games with us just because they want to. The people running this place are horrible liars. Ganondorf is a kinder man than them.
no subject
...turn people into murderers? That sounded exactly like the kind of thing Ganondorf had done. Or his minions, anyway. Though... he never lied about it. So in that sense, maybe he wasn't quite as bad.]
They use evil magics, then. Like Twinrova. And this place is a lie. If everyone gets the same two letters, what does the other one say?
[If he was to know what not to trust, he needed to know what the lie was.]
no subject
I believe it explained the basics of this place. The room you woke up in is where you are expected to sleep; where food is served at, and how to use the... Network here. It is... a bit confusing, at first. It is somewhat like magic, but it... also is not.
As for our captors... yes, they are somewhat like them. Though... I am not entirely sure if it is all magic, they still do terrible things.
no subject
[The network, whatever it was (probably not working on nets since he said 'use'), was his next concern, but 'expected to do this here' was more pressing if this place was truely more a prison than a sanctuary.]
no subject
... All of us combined have not found a way home yet. There is... not much choice.
[ Goddesses, they just want to go back to Hyrule... ]
no subject
[He said it in a matter of fact tone. Even if he couldn't get out of the tower just yet, he was sure he could escape going back to a mere prison cell for things like sleep. Food was more problematic because while he didn't really need sleep save for a couple hours every few nights, it was pretty obvious he didn't have much other choice when it came to finding food.
Link sheathed his sword and stepped forward to touch his counterpart's arm with his left hand. It was tentative at first, but then became firm as he adjusted to the idea of being able to touch his look-a-like. He smiled up at the other man and gave a confident smile.]
But um... don't be so down, okay? We'll find a way out. You and me, we're heroes. We can do this.
no subject
No! No, you do not want to do that--
[ Er... pause. Kind of alarmed here, sorry. They... don't exactly shake the other Link off, but the frown is set a bit further, now. ]
A-ah... you do not understand. If you do not sleep in the bed provided for you, you will die. No amount of rest elsewhere will help. They are able to bring others back to life here, but... you do not want to try it. I have been here nearly a year, you must believe me.
no subject
that's what bring back to life meant right?.Link kept smiling and nodded, giving a light squeeze to his counterpart's arm in an attempt to reassure the younger man.]
Then when I need to sleep, I'll take a nap there.
no subject
... I would just be cautious, were I you. This place is... very different from anything I have faced. If you can, I would consider asking others who might be able to explain the Network better to you... it is a good means of communication, like Saria's Song, but with pictures.
no subject
[He dropped his hand and gave another nod.]
Okay. I'll do that. Do you have a map or compass?
no subject
I would make a map, but it is hard to place the layout of some of these floors. And they are always... growing, changing.
no subject
[Even if it was inconvenient.]
No map and no compass. What about equipment? Only some of min was in the chest near the bed I woke up in and there wasn't any in the other three chests.
[...yes. He'd looked. They might have had treasure in them.]
no subject
... They usually only give us one chest of our things, and not all of them. You could ask, but I do not think it would be wise to this month. The only other chests I have seen here have other people's belongings in them; nothing of real value to us, at least.
no subject
[At least he'd done that before and knew how to improvise a bit.]
I'm going to explore. Where can I find you if I need to talk to you?
[No offense meant, but he needed to learn the layout and figure out what he could do to get everyone out of this place. Normal hero stuff.]
no subject
... You could try my room, 2-16. Though I am usually on the eleventh and twenty-fifth floor. Just... be careful.
[ And now Link is wondering if they could somehow find a way to communicate the same way they had with Saria. It would certainly be more convenient. ... They'll need to work on that. ]
no subject
[He gives that confident smile his counterpart has probably given a hundred times before as he nods, just the once, and then began wandering off again. He could sort out the whole younger and older twin thing later. After he got his bearings on the rest of this place.]
