02 - Everyone Has A Purpose
Characters: Kanaya and everyone!
Setting: Room 2-07
Format: I'll follow you
Summary: Kanaya offers to make clothes for people
Warnings: None except perhaps pin pricking for particularly squirmy people.
[When Kanaya's chest was restored she didn't find the sets of clothing she had originally arrived with. Instead she found several bolts of fabric in various colors and sewing supplies. Rather than despairing she turns it into an opportunity to be useful. She had been feeling lost without a purpose in the tower. She makes a makeshift sign that reads in neatly lettered green: "Clothes Made For Those Who Need Them". Underneath this is a lengthy green smudge as if she had elaborated on the statement then realized that an overly long sign would defeat the purpose of advertising to passersby. After hanging the sign, she sits down on her bed to wait.]

Mother grub, what happened to you? Nevermind, no time for that. Let me find my measuring tape so we can get started. What colors do you prefer?
no subject
...I like green?
[Purple. Red. Yellow. Blue.]
And purple, red, yellow and blue, I guess?
no subject
[She positions him in the center of the room and goes to retrieve her measuring tape.]
You'll have to remove your weapons so I'm able to get accurate measurements. I promise there's nothing that can hurt you in this room though.

[Link carefully takes off his shield and four of the masks he was carrying along with his sheath, but his sword stays in his left hand and his right keeps a firm grip on the last mask - the one with the yellow and green eyes and a mostly purple face. She could take measurements without him letting go of those, right? Right.]
Do you have any leather for belts or shoes?
no subject
I believe I might have some in the chest. I'll look once I'm done with your clothing.
[She measures across his shoulders, around his chest and hips, and down his arms, legs, and back.]
What was your world like, by the way? I'm always curious about where people residing in this tower come from.
no subject
...I've been to a couple worlds.
no subject
Are you a traveler then? What kinds of places have you been,...?
[She stops suddenly and blushes a faint green color.]
My apologies, I don't believe I asked your name.
no subject
[Link bowed at the waist.]
I've only been to a few worlds. The one I was born in and two others. Three, counting this one. Other than here, they looked about the same as Hyrule. Lots of green fields and forests.
no subject
[With the pieces cut out, she begins sewing them together with quick, neat stitches.]
That sounds quite pleasant to me. Hyrule is where you were born? I was born on a planet called Alternia but my hive, er, my home was in a desert. Green fields and forests sound wonderful.
[Once the shirt and pants are assembled, she begins embroidering small gold leaves on the hems of the sleeves.]
Why did you travel so much?
no subject
[Pants. She made pants. Yeah, the clothes were free and he shouldn't complain. But still.... pants.
He chewed at his lip for a little bit before quietly speaking up.]
Um... miss? Could you ah... make the shirt longer?
[A longer shirt could act like a tunic and he could cut off the legs of the pants later or something. Shorts were okay, but... pants. He'd earned the right to wear a tunic like the girls of the Kokiri. He wasn't going to give that up.]
And... maybe... maybe a hat?
/quietly slips a tag in forever later. I am so sorry.
[She's slightly embarrassed at her oversight. Really, she should have asked for more specifics before ushering him in. She adds a panel of fabric to the bottom of the shirt, disguising them hem with another line of gold embroidered leaves.]
What kind of hero were you?
