and before I knew it, i was in high school. (OPEN)
Characters: Haruhi Suzumiya, her shadow, and you!
Setting: September 11th, floor eight.
Format: Bracket spam, all the way.
Summary: The brigade chief finally manages to catch up with her shadow, and things are not going to end well.
Warnings: A lot of personal issues for Haruhi, some that may include "Surprise" spoilers. Also, potential violence.
[ The giggling never stopped. And the mere fact that it wasn't just any girl that she, Haruhi Suzumiya, the brigade chief was chasing, but her shadow, taking the form of a younger version of her from that very day...
It irritated her. She had already been quite prepared for this: having learned all the information she could about these 'shadows' over the network. But there was a difference between actually experiencing things and hearing about them. It wasn't hard to track her shadow down, though. After all, it — or so she considered the shadow, as a thing, and not human — was a part of her.
But once the sounds of giggling stopped, so did the shadow, standing right in front of Haruhi, her long hair unmoving. Of course she would be at the end of the maze. There was no other way. ]
I knew you'd come. After all, I know... the truth. And I knew you'd see it. My 'present' to you.
[ Haruhi soon bites her lower lip, shaking a little. Even though she didn't know if someone followed her here, she secretly hoped that nobody would see this. The girl in front of her... What was she going to do? ]
So what? [ Haruhi's voice is trembling, but she's trying her best to be the tough brigade leader that she says she is. ] Just because you're trying to repeat the message I sent on Tanabata doesn't mean a thing.
[ The shadow remains silent, unwavering, and even... calm. But her lips curl into a mischievous smirk, one that blatantly states that Haruhi is all too wrong. ]
But it does, you know. It says... "I am here," right? And you sent it to Orihime and Hikoboshi. Sixteen years may not have passed, but your wishes aren't going to be granted. None of them. They never will. Because...
[ And the shadow giggles innocently before beaming, giving the original Haruhi a small smile that says that she knows everything. ]
... you know in deep in that heart of yours that aliens, time travelers, espers, and even sliders could not possibly exist! "Oh, but what about this tower," you ask? It's all a sham. A dream. Some illusion that your mind made up all on it's own. Even if you pinch yourself, you won't wake up. Maybe you're actually dead, or in a coma, sleeping nicely in the hospital.
That's not all. That guy you met... four years ago? He was lying, too. Trying to keep your heart 'pure'. After all, older men like him lie to protect younger people from knowing the truth. It's funny, right? You try to find the supernatural, but you already know they don't exist. Your whole life's a sham. A big contradiction.
[ Then, there's silence coming from both ends before the shadow perks up again, leaning in close to Haruhi to rub her words in her face. ]
I don't get it. Why don't you say something? Are you worried? Your so-called 'brigade members' aren't here, so there's no need for that title of 'brigade leader'. Ha, you're really just an ordinary girl who wishes to believe in the illusion that those impossibilities exist!
You're useless without your lackey, your mascot, your vice commander... everyone. Oh, and you even like that lackey of yours, don't you? You even got jealous of that girl. Is that why you created the brigade? Because you actually had feelings for him? Not because you wanted to search for the supernatural?
That's just rich.
[ Again, more silence. But soon enough, Haruhi manages to speak, her voice soft. ]
That isn't true. That — it can't be true. It's not possible!
[ Dare you try to stop her from saying the forbidden words? ]

no subject
And that's when she found them - Haruhi and her Shadow. And seeing as the older girl was starting to shrink back, it seemed like the Shadow was winning.]
Leave her alone! [racing up to Haruhi, Tsubomi opted to confront the Shadow herself. True, she didn't know this girl, but she wasn't going to let that bother her. She needed help and she was going to help anyway she could.]
Jumping in? Let me know if it's a problem
He has gone into this floor as well and upon finding Haruhi, there was another girl here too and the shadow. Racing up towards them he stood behind the real Haruhi.]
That's right! Stop being horrible to her!
it's fine by me
[ The smaller girl (Haruhi's shadow, of course) flips her hair as she smiles innocently, not a trace of hatred on her face. ]
She knows it's all true; just look at her face.
Same here!
["Way to go.", she mentally chides herself.]
