Summary: Hibiki runs into Sakuma and they finally get a chance to talk

[He knows he should talk to Kidou but for the past few days, he isn't sure himself how to explain to his friend. Sure running into his shadow had forced him to accept some things about himself but it scared him a little that now Kidou knows as well.

What if what the shadow told him made him upset? What if he no longer wanted to be friends?

He knows eventually he has to explain but for now he's trying to work up his courage as well as thinking of how to make his feelings coherent words before he does so. Which is why he's been avoiding Kidou. He rarely stays in their shared room, leaving as soon as he wakes up and coming back when it's late. Often he wanders the halls or he goes to the aquarium to stare at the fish.

Today though, he's in the library, sitting in an armchair hidden near the back with his legs pulled up to his chest and a book in his hands. This will give him a few hours of distraction, at least.

[Hm, what was through this door, he wonders.

Hibiki had been wandering through the halls for a little bit, checking out this and that--fairly quiet, he supposed. Typhlosion was called back, he needed a rest after keeping up with this super active kid the entire day. Wandering alone in an unknown place is really smart, but it's not like he done it before!

He quietly opens the door, just in case there's someone inside. And books everywhere! So it's a library, hummm! He's never seen one this big before; he stumbles in, his balance slightly off since he's looking around everywhere. So coool!! So he's walking through the aisles and fingering the spines of the books, eventually reaching the back of the library. He wonders if anyone's read ALL the books here.

It looks like no one's here--is that blue hair? Curious, he tiptoes over and !!! That's his roommate, well his other roommate! The one he's only seen a few times in passing, uhm his name, his name--]

Sakuma!

[gtfghdh Did he just say that out loud?!]

[Sakuma looks up slowly from his book, a little confused. He didn't really expect anyone to bother him here, that's for sure least of all the boy that's standing at the end of one of the aisles. He vaguely recognizes him as the new boy sharing his room but he's pretty sure he's never talked to him before so why does he knows his name?

Still, he might as well answer.]

Yes?

[He flounders a little, and he can feel his face getting red--what does he say??]

U-uhm, hi! Sorry for disturbing you...I-I didn't know anyone was in here!

[What a great first impression, Hibiki should get an award. He will receive it from under his covers since he does not think he can face another human being ever.]

No, that's okay. It's pretty quiet in here so that's probably why.

[Since he understands the need to explore the tower when you're new. Actually, he stills does that on occasion so he can't blame the boy but he's still curious so he lowers his book a little while still keeping it open to the page he's on.]

How do you know my name?

Ah! Kidou told me when I asked him about who else shared the room! I didn't mean to just blurt it out like that...I was just trying to remember what your name was. [He laughs a little nervously, not really knowing what to say after.

Oh! His own name would be helpful.

He extends his hand and offers him a bright smile.]

I'm Hibiki, if you were wondering! Pleased to finally meet you!

[Oh, right. Kidou. Not everyone is socially awkward like he is so of course he's talked to the new boy already. Only when he thinks that, he feels a little terrible.

He does take Hibiki's offered hand and shakes it and even gives a small smile in return but it quickly fades.]

It's nice to meet you too. But it's too bad you're stuck here now.

[Just going to steer clear of talking about Kidou, yep.]

Stuck? [He tilts his head to the side. Stuck in the library..?]

Yeah. In the tower. It's a shitty place to be.

[No, Sakuma, what are you doing? Don't make things worse...]

Oh...well I haven't been here for very long, but I don't think it's so bad! the people are really nice, like you! [smilesmile Your negativenness will not get him down!! baby he will light up your world like nobody else]

Though I don't really know what's where, I haven't been around the tower yet.

[Well, he better get used to Sakuma since they share a room and all. Also, he doesn't see how this boy thinks he's nice. They've barely spoken at all.]

Just because the people are nice, doesn't mean the tower is. You don't know what it can do.

[He sighs.]

It's really big so that'll take awhile. Although some of the floors aren't that safe.

[This guy thinks everyone is nice if they're not trying to steal pokemon or anything of the sort. And you sir, do not look like a Rocket member. Sakuma better get used to him.]

I suppose so, but I have Typhlosion! He can protect me. And...you'll help me, won't you?
[Given that they just met, he has no idea how the other will answer. He doesn't even know himself if he's asking seriously or not; if Sakuma says yes, then it all works out! If no...he can play it off or something! But, deep down inside, Hibiki's scared. He's scared of what's out there, the tower's a closed area and he doesn't now where anything is (aside from his room and the the cafeteria).

He doesn't even know why he asked now.]

[It takes him a bit to process what Hibiki asked. It seemed out of nowhere but he doesn't actually see the harm in it. It's definitely better than letting him wander the tower himself in any case. Besides, not like Sakuma is doing anything besides hiding away from people and moping anyways. The distraction could be nice.]

I guess I could... but what's a Typhlosion?

[He? Is it someone else that Hibiki's met in the tower? If so, Sakuma's never heard of him before.]

[And his spirits are lifted ten-fold! His eyes light up and everything--he's so happy! He knew Sakuma was a nice guy, eeeee. Would it be too soon to give him a hug?

Nahhh.

Hibiki launches himself at Sakuma, giving him a quick squeeze before bouncing back to where he was.]

Ah! This is Typhlosion!
[He pulls out his pokeball and throws it up in the air, there's a flash of light and then, lo and behold, it's Typhlosion!]

[The moment Hibiki hugs him, Sakuma immediately tenses up and freezes. Even normally people touching him makes him uncomfortable so this out of nowhere hug definitely surprises him. Thankfully it's brief and Hibiki's already back to a safe distance.

But before he can complain about it, the other boy takes out a strange looking ball and there's a sudden flash. What he sees next is something he'd never expect.

There's some sort of animal (???) standing beside Hibiki and it's unlike anything he's seen before, that's for sure. In his surprise, he accidentally drops the book he's holding. So much for trying to keep track of what page he's on.]

It's... tamed, right.

[He's eyeing warily. He's had enough run ins with strange animals in the tower, thanks.]

[He's cooing and petting Typhlosion on the head, sorry for calling him out so soon. Ah, he loves his dear pokemon so very much!

And then he hears a small thump. Hibiki turns over to Sakuma about to ask him if everything's okay when he asks his question.]

Of course! He's not wild, now are you, boy? Nooope, totally safe to be around! Typhlosion's a fire type so he can do fire attacks and stuff! Earlier he set a soccer ball on fire..I think..

[It does seem nice enough what with Hibiki petting it no problem at all. Still, you can't be too sure around unknown animals. Especially since this one can apparently set things on fire.]

So things like him are normal where you're from?

[That's kind of crazy.]

[He nods, remembering his team--baw he missed them. But having Typhlosion is better than nothing.]

Uh huh, but not every Pokemon is tame like Typlho'! There are wild ones and stuff like that.

Do you want to pet him? He'll be nice!

[He grins at Sakuma; come on, dooo itttt.]

[Well, if Hibiki says it's okay...

Very tentatively he reaches out and gives Typhlosion a light pat.]

Pokemon?

[Why does he keep using weird words.]

[Typhlosion nudges his hand, totally cool with this Sakuma character--aw yeahhh.]

Uh huh! You've..never heard of Pokemon before? [He tilts his head to the side, utterly confused that he doesn't know know what Pokemon is. Well, he knew the people here came from different places, but if they didn't have Pokemon, what did they have...?]

[Encouraged by the fact that Typhlosion hasn't bitten his hand off, Sakuma continues petting him.]

No, I've never heard of such things before in my life.

Ooooh, I can't imagine a world without Pokemon! But then again, here I am~~ [This kid is a moron, so sorry he is your roommate.

Hibiki laughs it off and changes the subject!]

So! What do you like to do around here?

Usually I read or I go to the aquarium.

[As he speaks, he stops petting Typhlosion and reaches down to grab the book that he dropped. He looks at it and decided that since it didn't land on the page that he was on anyway, closes it.]

...There really isn't much to do here.
