[Open] Wherever You Go

Summary: Kairi has more than a few people she needs to find, help, or talk to. Find her here if you need her.
Warnings: None that I can think of?

[Luck seemed to be firmly on Kairi's side. Whenever things went topsy-turvy in the Tower, she was usually one of the ones not affected by the craziness. But that also meant she had more than a fair share of folks she wanted to find and take care of, since she was in her right mind.

Friends, loved ones, even stranger might need her help, and she more than intended to give it. She could use the network computers, but that didn't give the face to face time she liked best. So instead she now wandered the areas of the Tower she knew she could roam without incident. In the future she'd find someone, perhaps that Aqua that Riku had mentioned once, to teach her how to fight.

But for now she'll do what she can, even if it's only talk.]

[So Cross here will notice a young girl looking around for...something. Blinking he approaches the smaller girl and looks down towards her.]

Hey, everything all right?

[If this wasn't going to get fixed soon, then there was something important Sora had to do. That's what led to him wandering around the dorm floors on his second day in Vanitas' body, heading for Kairi's room. He was still carrying Vanitas' mask around, though he stopped himself from putting it on. He felt enough unlike himself as it was without it.

In fact, it was the realization that the things that were making him feel wrong were only getting worse that convinced him that he needed to do this now. In the last few hours, he had begun to remember things...only they weren't his memories. But they didn't feel like they belonged to someone else, and that was the part that scared him.

He had to warn Kairi about what was happening, both in case Vanitas tried to trick her while he had his body, and...in case he started acting weird. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

Sora knocks on her door a few times, hoping that she doesn't get scared or anything when she sees him.]

Kairi?

[He realizes, a few seconds later, that he should probably explain who he is.]

It's Sora. Are you there?

[She is lucky indeed; Riku is hit more often than he'd like.

For now he's sitting in the library on floor 19, looking through the notes he made at that meeting. This kind thing... this kind of science... it's far, far out of any area he might feel comfortable to claim knowledge about, and still. It's all they have to get back to being themselves.

(There is no understanding without knowledge, and that is perhaps the most bitter truth that Ansem had left him with.)

The occasional coughing and memory flashes don't really help either.

He sighs just when another flash passes (just what... a desert filled with Keyblades? What kind of world had he just seen?), eyes straying... until he catches sight of Kairi.]

...Kairi?

[Excuse the question mark, but given the circumstances it's kind of a must.]

[If Kairi ventures into the meadow floor, she's sure to find this Vanitas sitting cross-legged, clutching onto his head. His helmet's nowhere in sight, as he's figured out how to dematerialize it. Not that it helps the urges to put it back on...

And those memories. They've become more vivid. Seeing pieces of Vanitas' past... If only he could make it stop.]

Just gotta remember, this isn't me. Those aren't my memories.

[It's said in a soft tone and to no one in particular. Still, it's obvious this guy's a little stressed.]

[So far, no one she knows has come out of the woodwork, but the cafeteria wasn't a bad place to take a look. No gluck there, however.

So for a moment she looks disappointed, before she realizes she's being spoken to.]

Huh? Oh, yeah... everything's fine. I was just looking for a few people.

[Kairi'd returned to her dorm after an initial look around of familiar floors. Now she was sitting on her bed, wondering just where she might try next, when a knock came to her door. Hopping up, she wondered if it was one of the very people she'd just spent time searching for.

Sure enough, a familiar voice came from the other side. Though something in the tone gave her pause, when she heard Sora's name she opened the door up.]

There you are, I was- [And then she got a good look at who was standing there. Right face. Completely wrong coloring and outfit. So forgive her for staring.]

S-Sora? [Actually, in all her time here she hadn't run into the REAL Vanitas, so color her confused.]

[The library was a place she'd been to before, and had more than once found someone she was looking for. So right now she's looking through the stacks, peeking around the corners as not to disturb anyone who might just be there to read.

As she passes a cluster of tables, she hears her name and looks over. Unfortunately, the person speaking isn't someone she recognizes, but obviously they recognize her.]

Yes? [She too, looks unsure.]

[The meadow floor was actually new territory for her, but it was peaceful enough that she had to at least give it a good looking through.

As she walks through, she's almost immediately drawn to the sound of his voice. He sounds so much like Sora, and yet not, that she can't help investigating. Once again though, it's the wrong hair color, and she has no idea who she's really speaking to.

That doesn't stop her from kneeling down in front of him and looking concerned though. She can't help herself.]

Are you all right?

[Ooookay, standing here, looking at...Kairi? Wait, Kairi? Wasn't she supposed to be older?]

O-oh...do you need any help err...Kairi?

[He met her AU self, so prepare for a very confused looking boy staring at her trying to figure out why she looks younger.]

Kairi...?

[
Though he doesn't make any sudden moves, Riku does glance up at her, and his eyes widen a bit.

Please, just be Kairi. Not somebody else. With his knew body drowning him in darkness, he needs that encouragement. That light. And, most importantly, stability.]

[Oh, this should be entertaining.]

Have we... met before?

[And she's going to wonder if she somehow forgot one of the many folks she's run into around here. Awkward is GO!]

Uh, yeah kind of. But, you're supposed to be older. Does the name Cross ring any bells?

[So much Awkward there needs to be a room for it.]

Mhm, it's me. [He seems to recognize her, given the expression.]

You're going to have to tell me who you are... since everyone's a little mixed up right now.

No, it doesn't.... sorry. [Oh boy, she didn't know there was another version of her running around...]

I'm not the person you must have met before.

...It's Riku.

[A beat.]

The younger one.

[Hopefully that'll clue her in. He doesn't exactly have the charm or his Keyblade to prove it, after all.]

[Well... she is reacting to her name... seems like she had been spared by this. Thanks the light for small favors.

He smiles sheepishly.]

It's Riku. [...Wait, he should probably clarify this some more, shouldn't he?] The older one.

O-Oh [Woooow. She stares for a moment, taking in the completely unfamiliar face before she walks over.]

I would... never have guessed. [There's a mildly sheepish smile in return.]

[Thank goodness for clarification.]

I was hoping I'd find you.

[He chuckles lightly, reaching up to scratch the back of his head, before tugging on the paper that is pinned to his shirt.]

Well... I guess the name tag isn't quite readable on distance.

[...As if that was the main reason why should couldn't have known it's him.]

[...Heh. That gets a soft chuckle outta him.]

Hope I wasn't too hard to track down.

[Oh, now that's helpful.]

No, sorry. I didn't see it. [She gives a little grin.]

But that's okay, I know who you are now.

Not as hard as you might think. [Now back to her previous question.]

Still, are you doing okay?

[Indeed it is. He grins right back... until well... he remembers what he threw at her had the last time they really talked. ...Awkward.]

So... are you looking for anyone?

[She remembers that as well. But it's not going to stop her from mothering him anyways.]

Yeah, I was. I was looking for you, and all the other people I know. I wanted to make sure you were safe.

[She hasn't changed a bit, huh?]

No need to worry about me... or the guy that's currently occupying my body.

[Terra is alright. Safe. ...There are other people though...]

Stay away from the other me though. Until this is all reversed for good at least.

[Not in the slightest.]

I don't think anyone would mess with you in that body. [You're so tall... 8o ]
