So that last week had been hell, and they really should have seen it coming, but it's as they all say...

It was just another Tuesday in Tower What The Helsinki is Going On Here.

Unlike the private party, there are definitely plenty of decorations courtesy of the Amagi Inn heiress, and plenty of food thanks to those who offered to hunt for the event and the ones who could prepare what was caught and gathered. Really, everything's set. Even some alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were clearly labeled (so please, don't spike the normal punch. There are kids here!).

So why was this all set up? Why, because they had succeeded in pissing in Jason's cornflakes and got him maaaaad figuring out the cure for the madness of the previous week with the clues that had been given. But wait, was there a birthday or two this month that had otherwise gone unnoticed? Well, why not celebrate them while celebrating their hard-earned victory? There's cards on a table for people to write down the lucky people who survived another year of this craziness, just waiting for well wishes (or not so, depending on if you like them or not).

Oh, yeah, it is. I guess you could call us "magical girls"? Though I mean, there are magical girls in fiction and in other worlds that aren't really like us...

*And the more he hears, the worse it sounds. The concept of the "magical girl" existed in stories...so not only was this "Kyuubey" looking to take advantage of them wanting something badly, it didn't seem to be doing anything bad at all - promising to make them into something from legend...*

...So there seemed to be nothing to lose.

You mean the contracts? Y, yeah... it kind of seems that way when we were first offered it. We didn't know what soul gems really were then.

Sayaka told me the same... *A bit of a pause as he tries to find the words in the sympathy for these poor deceived girls... What would happen to these altered souls?*

No, don't apologize. It's not your fault... I mean, really, we should be grateful that you can help us! Without Jyuubey here, I thought for sure I'd be in trouble...

*...That was new.* "Jyuubey"?

Yeah, Jyuubey. He's the fairy who we contracted with... and the one who used to clean our Soul Gems back home.

Sayaka named a "fairy" called Kyuubey. But...Jyuubey would clean your soul gems for you?

*How...strange. For some reason, he's having a hard time reconciling the tempter with this...apparent purification.*

Yeah... that's why we had to keep him around even after we learned the truth. Well, Umika rewrote his memories though.

...Rewrote his memory...

*What. What. Okay, now he's just disturbed.*

So he wouldn't go around making more contracts! We didn't want anyone else to end up in the same situation as us...

[warriorscribe]

Oh... *There was no good way out of that, he supposes.* ...How is it he can purify your soul gems?

[starofpleiades]

Um... He just can? [SHE DOESN'T ACTUALLY KNOW HOW JYUUBEY WORKS] It's just the thing he does! Eats Grief Seeds and cleans Soul Gems.

That's...strange.

*But he's...glad he's useful?

He's still having a hard time reconciling "tears souls out" with "purification" though.*

Yeah, I guess it's all a little strange, but that's magic, huh?

Even magic seems to make some sense within itself...

*Something else she said occurs to him.*

What are "Grief Seeds"?

[starofpleiades]

Grief Seeds are the cores of Witches... they're what our Soul Gems become if we don't purify them.

[warriorscribe]

*Enoch is silent for a moment, taking that in.*

So when they break... That would make a Witch a...corrupted soul?

[starofpleiades]

I guess so? But Jyuubey says there's no way to turn them back once they've become witches.

[warriorscribe]

*Enoch lowers his gaze.*

Perhaps not into living girls. But...are they laid to rest if the Witch is killed?
