Desperate to rescue

Characters: Enoch and anyone, particularly those who got a monster under their bed and want help. Or he can just burst into your dorm for no reason.
Setting: Dorm floors, various dorm rooms
Format: I'm starting prose, but I'll match you!
Summary: Enoch tried to protect the people who wished violence on Jason. It didn't work. And now he's rushing to see if they're all right...
Warnings: Violence? There will be monsters...

I'm sorry, but we cannot fulfill your request at this time.

There's a moment of numb terror before he drops the note he assumes to be from Riki on the bed, and no more than a second later there's the slap of his sandals against the floor. His Arch is snatched from its place against his nightstand and soon the sound of sandals on the floor becomes one of armored boots, light gathering around him on his way out the door as he summons his armor.

It's been a little while since that post and so much has happened, so he can't remember who was in on it - using the network to find them isn't reliable if they need immediate help!

If he doesn't hear anything from the halls, he'll be bursting into random dorm rooms, trying desperately to see if the people in on that scheme are all right.

[ In one of those rooms he'll find a girl he's crossed paths with just a couple weeks ago perched up on her bed. Her wheelchair is nearby, but it doesn't appear as though she was intending to move from her spot. ]

H-Hello? [ With a half-folded piece of paper in her hands, she looks at him with fright, before it settles down into a calmer smile. ] Oh, I remember speaking with you before. I hope you've been well since then.

[ ... Except it seems that he's not well as Nunnally closes her eyes. ]

Who are you trying to find? I won't keep you long, but maybe I can tell you if this is the right room or not.

*And of course it's someone who couldn't have even known about the scheme. Maybe she's seen or heard something strange.*

Last month, many of the tower's younger residents planned to all submit requests that Jason be punished. I was afraid they'd face punishment, themselves, so I requested they not...

*He shakes his head. And his request was explicitly denied. It meant punishment was definitely happening.* Have you heard or seen anything?

Why would any of them think that to be a good idea?

[ Nunnally hasn't been here for long, but from what she's been able to confirm, she knows that threatening Jason's well being was sure to have consequences. ]

Besides you, I haven't seen anyone at all today. I woke up late and my roommates have already all left for their own business.

[ In actuality, that wasn't quite true. She thought she heard scuffling noises around the rooms, but since she was half-asleep, she chalked it up to fear of these so-called monsters. ]

Many people act rashly at that age.

*He shoots a worried glance back out into the hallway.*

I received a response, telling me my request couldn't be fulfilled. I know something must have happened... *If she hasn't seen anything...* You haven't heard anything, have you?

[ Not that Nunnally knows anything about that. Most of her interactions with people her age involve drinking in a room and dressing up like cats. ]

I thought I did, but it's hard to say. I've never heard noises like it before. [ Turning up her chin contemplatively. ] Like large rats..? I'm not sure if pests are a problem here however.

I haven't seen any monsters like rats, but...monsters don't normally come to these levels during the daytime.

*Oh no... The admin didn't send monsters into the rooms themselves, did they?*

...Could you tell where you heard them?

I'm sorry, but it's hard to say where I would have heard them.

[ Admittedly she had been frightened a bit and with the dark around her... ] Um, if I had to say so, it would have been in the rooms below and above.

Below and above... Thank you. I'm sorry for intruding so suddenly, but...you may well have saved lives, if it helps me find them before anything can harm them.

*Whatever saving lives is worth here.*

That's alright. I don't mind it if it's to help others.

[ She gives a nod to encourage him. ] Please don't let me keep you here.

Dave? Dave is just lying on his bed. He's considering the merits of getting up and dealing with the monster under his bed now or just considering calling today one of those days where he doesn't do anything and lies around for most of the duration of it. Pros and cons are important. He really doesn't want to deal with it.

It isn't like he can't. He's also wondering if he was the only one who had this happen to him. But that means confronting it so he can check. God. His life is hard. Deal with it now? Or just keep lying on his bed. He'll eventually have to deal with it, but for now, Enoch will probably burst into Dave's dorm and he's safely still chilling on his bed.

Dave is certainly one of the younger residents, one of the traits he was sure was common in those who had agreed to the request box flood. Was he among them, though? The room seemed safe...

"Forgive the sudden intrusion, but..." A moment to catch his breath. "Did you see the network post where there was a collaboration to have Jason struck?"

Even if he's safe, he still might be able to help. He distinctly recalls the other version of him he met carrying a very large sword as if it was natural to him.

Dave is exactly one of the type of people who'd do it. It's just in his nature to do stupid shit like this, unfortunately. He just sits up when he hears Enoch barge in.

"Uh." Dave glances down at the floor than back at Enoch. It would have been impossible with the shades, but Dave actually moved his head to look down before turning his attention back to the other. "Yeah?"

That was...worrying. Why the look down? There wasn't a note on his nightstand...had there been a reply at all? Had he even participated?

"Were you one of the participants? Have they done anything to you?"

"Yeah. I thought it was a great idea at first. But then they shoved a monster under my bed, and now this is a serious question. Do I really need to take a piss or just keep on sleeping?

Dave should really be taking this seriously, but he honestly just doesn't care enough to be serious. He doesn't think it would be that hard to bludgeon the monster to death. "I don't know about you, but bed buddies are the best."

A monster under his bed? Nunnally had said she'd heard noises like large rats...

Out of curiosity, Enoch gets on his knees to take a peek under the bed.

And quickly stands up again. That thing is, for lack of a more descriptive word, creepy. Oh well, it hadn't reacted to him beyond glancing his way, so he figures it's focused on Dave alone. That ought to make it easy, he thinks as he takes out and opens his Arch.

"I'll deal with it - it seems to be waiting for you."

He approaches the bed...and his armor and the beam of his Arch vanish. He takes a few quick steps back for them to reform and looks down at the floor in front of the bed again.

"...And it disables powers."

Wonderful. Well, it's not like he's helpless. He folds the Arch and stows it on the back of his jeans again. Now the question is how to get it out without risking Dave, since it gets rid of his reach - the frame of the Arch itself was not made for directly striking enemies, and wouldn't be very effective. And getting Dave out of there...acrobatics on a full bladder aren't easy.

"I might be able to fight it, still, but our problem is in getting you out of harm's way while drawing it out."

A thoughtful pause as he looks at the bed. His eyes drift to the nightstand. "...Try climbing onto the table, if it can hold your weight?"

"Well, it was my request." It's not like he isn't technically at fault for deciding to do this. He doesn't regret it though, even if this was a lot of work for something dumb like this.

"Oh, that's real great. I'm so happy about this." Dave isn't all that interested in dying. Luckily, he isn't exactly useless just because the monster disabled powers. He just hates the thought of potentially dying over this of all things. Couldn't it had at least been something less dumb.

Dave just sits there considering his options. "Can you get my sword from my trunk?" Dave doubts he'd be fast enough to open his trunk and get it himself, even if he was fast.

It would just be easier if someone else can get it for him. "I got this shit. Just a shitty monster. Got ninety nine problems and shitty monsters isn't one of them."

Enoch glanced at the trunk before heading over to it and opening it up. A sword...? He looked at what he picked up before handing it over to Dave.

Once he had his sword securely in hand, Dave decided it was about time he finally moved off the bed and back onto concrete ground.

Dave leaped off quickly catching himself to stand upright and turn around. That thing was probably going to drag itself out to attack him soon enough.

Sure enough, as expected, it crawled out on its backwards-jointed limbs. The moment it emerged, Enoch went for its head, trying to slam it into the bedframe and daze it, quickly vaulting over it to make room for Dave to attack.

Oh man, if you get monster guts on his bed, he is never sleeping on that thing again. That's gross dude. Who knows if it'll start smelling or something.

But Dave rushes forward to swing at it, but it turns more into a block, because oh shit. That thing really wants to go at him. "This was a shitty idea and I should be ashamed for thinking it would work." Fuckkk, monsters.

Their beds get cleaned when they're out anyway. Enoch leaps on top of it, knee-first - With all its joints pointing out instead of in and with its attention focused in front of it, it flattens under Enoch's weight. Not for long, given how strong it is, but perhaps just enough.

"Dave, its neck!" Or its joints, but those belonged to limbs that were sort of flailing at the moment. Enoch pushes its head down with both hands and vaults over it to give Dave some room to swing - or if he can't, at least it would add to its disorientation.

Dave didn't need prompting or for Enoch to say anything a second time. He just quickly leaped and swung his sword down on the monster. The faster they deal with this the better. He didn't want to know what it was capable of, considering this place was rather hit or miss when it came to being dangerous or not.

Enoch lands and twists with the scraping of sandal on tile and brings his foot down on its head, keeping it down long enough for Dave's sword to chop through its neck.

Or partway through it. The monster goes limp from the neck down, but its jaws still try to bite at Enoch's leg. Futile, considering he's standing on it and without full use of its neck it lacks leverage. Enoch would deliver the final blow himself if the thing didn't disable his weapon's beam...

Dave didn't waste any time, standing above the creature and thrusting his sword down its throat to finally kill it for good. It's a good thing that SBURB prepared him for constantly killing creatures. He might be a little gross out at this otherwise, but he isn't.

As the creature dies, Enoch's armor reforms in a pool of white light, its hold over the supernatural gone. His arms and shoulders relax.

That's at least one person saved...

"Sending monsters at people for nothing but this..."

"All in good fun. I don't know about you, but it was worth it."

He's totally fine. No injuries. "I wonder who else did it. Other than a hell of a lot of people."

"You don't know anyone else who did?"

He thought that the more he saved, the easier it would be to save others, both by joining forces with the others, but by relying on their memories and perhaps knowledge of who was whom on the network.

"Not really. I assume whoever replied to that network post did. But that doesn't really mean everyone who did it also said anything about it."

Your life is hard, Enoch. It's hard and nobody understands.

"True." Enoch looked over his shoulder at the door. "I'll need to find them before they're attacked."

It was probably too late. But Enoch was turning away to leave anyway, and he looked back over his shoulder at Dave before he did. "I'm glad I was able to help at least one. Stay safe, if you find someone else in need of help too."

And with that, he rushed from the room, resuming his frantic search.

Not sure what he's got in there but I assume Enoch would pick up whatever looks like a sword. XD;

It's mostly clothes and not obviously sword objects so it'll be easy to tell.
