Summary: Illya is none to happy to be seperated from her family and friends and relives this anger via pouting.

Warnings: Spoilers for Heaven's Feel are likely.

[Illya sat on her bed and thought. It was not the supposed destruction of her home that upset the young Einzbern daughter, but rather that it meant she would eternally be separated from those she cared about most. To never see her precious older brother without being able to truly convey what he meant to her was a punishment more harsh then any this vile place could level against her. She thought of the chaotic mess that the Grail War had become, of her servant's transformation into an unholy creature of darkness, and what may happen should that shriveled old man have his way. Though if the planet itself were destroyed none of this meant anything, but if it didn't, and she was not around to carry the War to it's natural conclusion it would mean an awful end for all she held dear. It was almost to much for the small girl to bear.

Any near her room may hear what sounds like a small child quietly sobbing to herself.]

[Only able to sulk for so long, Illya eventually resolves to leave her room for the time being and go out into the wider world. Roaming the halls around the dorm for a short while, all the while exploring her strange new home as a bid to chase away the dark thoughts laying heavy on her mind.]

Berserker was a good servant and he did try to protect me. He just couldn't stand up to the shadow of the Grail itself.

Oh.

[He couldn't help but feel guilty at the expression that she had on her face.]

You must've...been close to him.

[Honestly, though; if Lancer had been in Berserker's place, he would've just killed this girl's asshole family and gotten her some place safe.]

...Wait, the shadow of the Grail? What was that?

It's a long story, but in short during the third Grail War the Einzbern summoned a servant of the class Avenger. He died very quickly but so great was his darkness that he tainted the Grail itself.

Since then all the Grail has done is collect energy to give birth to Avenger's wish; which was to become an embodiment of all the world's evil. The shadow is a part of that darkness.

...So that was the black shit.

[Well, he finally has an explanation for why the Grail was so corrupt.]

Did...he get dipped in it? I know Saber did, but...

The shadow spit him out just like Saber, but it wasn't the same. He couldn't think anymore and was just a wild animal who attacked anything that moved.

My onii-chan was able to put him down for good, but he nearly died doing it.

[Wait a minute...Berserker? A big brother?]

Uh...kid? Which Grail War are you from?

The Fifth.

[His mouth drops open. For a moment, the concept of Gilgamesh actually being able to be nice, and to an enemy Master to boot, broke his brain. Who knew the King of Heroes had a soft spot for kids? Perhaps Lancer should show him a little more respect if he ever showed up again.]

[But even the King of Heroes, with all of his strength, couldn't protect this girl. From what Lancer remembers, Berserker had become Sancraid Phahn's Servant at some point, and the Priest had freely admitted to luring the original Master into her home and killing her.]

...Sorry about everything that happened.

[He doesn't know what gave him the idea to do it, but he bends down and offers her a cup of his pumpkin juice. He can't offer her any other form of comfort or apology.]

It's all right. I don't think there is anything anyone could have done to make it better.

[She takes the juice, and sips a little of it.]

Were you part of the Fifth War as well?

Yeah, I was. We didn't meet much, though. I was the Lancer there. Well, I suppose I'm still a Lancer now, but it's not as if I have a Master or a Grail War to fight in.

It's nice to meet you, Lancer! But I do have a question, how can you exist here without a master to give you mana?

The Tower itself does it. I'm not the only one either. There's others, and I don't think any of the ones I met have Masters. Best I can say is that this place acts like a Holy Grail with the prana kicked into overdrive.

That is really weird. I'd like to know more about way it works like that. Does anyone around here know?

You could try speaking to the Administrator. Her name's Ruler. Just...don't tell her I sent you. She doesn't like me much.

I think I will, it's not like I have anything else to do in this dumb place.

She's a good woman. I think you can trust her.

[A pause.]

Uh...I don't think your big brother is here right now. But until he comes over...

[Not that Lancer wants him to.]

I guess I can help you out if any of the other Servants or Masters start giving you trouble. I think they'll remain tame for the most part, though. Now that there's no Grail to fight over, anyways.

[Illya smiles.]

That is very kind of you, Lancer.

Not as if I've got better stuff to do.

[Suddenly, he thinks of something.]'

Oh, kid, can you do me a favor?

[Now that a supposedly dead Master had shown up, was it too much to hold some hope that Misaya would come here too?]

What's that, Lancer?

[He fumbles around a bit with the pockets of the casual black suit that he's wearing. Finally, he pulls out a piece of paper with something drawn on it.]

If you see a girl who looks like this around here, tell me, alright?

[The picture is a bit odd, but she simply can't say no to someone who offered to protect her.]

Sure, it's no problem. It is the least I can do

Her name is Misaya Reiroukan. She's a good girl, but...try not to let her notice you.

[Who know how Misaya would react to some other Master.]

She's a little...blunt.

I know quite a few people like that. I'm sure I'll be fine.

Great.

[He can't resist trying to give her a pat on the head. After all, she looks and acts just like a little girl.]

[Illya blushes lightly as anger boils in the pit of her stomach. She was used to being treated like a small child, but this was simply to much.]

I'm not a kid, so please don't treat me like one.
