Floor Thirteen: Cathedral

This is something new. Spain wonders when did this appear, but decides not to dwell on it. Instead, she sits in a pew, clasping her hands together around her cross as her head bows low (inwardly she thinks she should have brought down her rosary). Her eyes are shut, but she's trying to hold back tears.

"Dios te salve, Maria. Llena eres de gracia: El Señor es contigo..."

Floor One: Cafeteria

Sighing when she reaches the cafeteria, Spain recalls the number of floors between her dorm and the cafeteria. Thirteen, the unlucky number, which ironically is the floor where the cathedral is.

Shaking her head, she mutters to herself, "Must have been a coincidence..." before helping herself to the food. Two small meat pies, salad and juice. She wasn't that hungry to begin with.

Sí. The most common language is English, but the other languages are still alive. And there are many religions as well.

I see. On Alternia there is one dialect, although a few variations of it and accents as your Earth has. Religion on the other hand is not something wildly regarded. Of the twelve trolls only one is religious and he... is not taken very seriously.

Alien in the sense I am from another planet, yes. But you must recognize that to myself, you are the one who is foreign and could be considered an alien.

Does your entire country believe in this religion?

Not everyone. We have other religions, most of them a minority in my country, but we accept their differences.

At least differences are accepted there. We have one religion and I believe that it is looked down upon. Being different is not the safest of things on Alternia.

Not everyone on Earth is that accepting though... [ shakes her head. ] I've seen terrible things happening because of religion...

[ Sighs, then smiles sadly. ] How is being different not safe in your planet, querida?

Earth is not as accepting? How so?

[she looks away for a moment] Alternia has a caste system based on blood color. Red, orange, and yellow are low bloods, green is in the middle, blue and purple are high. Many of the high bloods deem the low bloods are unworthy, although not all.

[ She scoots closer and reaches out to place a hand over Kanaya's, offering a slightly brighter smile. ] Which caste are you in, querida? If you don't mind me asking.

I see, so Earth may be just as violent as Alternia was.

[Kanaya bites her lip with one of her sharper teeth, enough to draw blood. She wipes the bubble of blood away and holds out her hand to show Spain] Jade green. I am the only one with this color which makes me a bit more important than the just the green provides.

[ The smudge of deep green was a startling contrast against Kanaya's gray skin, and Spain took a moment before she speaks. ]

So... those of your kind with jade green blood are important... in what way?
