Floor Thirteen: Cathedral

This is something new. Spain wonders when did this appear, but decides not to dwell on it. Instead, she sits in a pew, clasping her hands together around her cross as her head bows low (inwardly she thinks she should have brought down her rosary). Her eyes are shut, but she's trying to hold back tears.

"Dios te salve, Maria. Llena eres de gracia: El Señor es contigo..."

Floor One: Cafeteria

Sighing when she reaches the cafeteria, Spain recalls the number of floors between her dorm and the cafeteria. Thirteen, the unlucky number, which ironically is the floor where the cathedral is.

Shaking her head, she mutters to herself, "Must have been a coincidence..." before helping herself to the food. Two small meat pies, salad and juice. She wasn't that hungry to begin with.

Taking Jade's hands in hers, Spain looks her right in the eye, frowning slightly. "Jade, querida, you are a growing girl. You are allowed to eat as much as you want, because if not, you won't grow to be big and strong."

"Okay." She nods, slightly. That makes sense. Jade had wondered if she was getting enough food, especially since she was still trying to make up for the months with almost nothing.

"Can I...have some more food, please?"

The nation pulls Jade into a hug, smoothing down her hair. "Of course you can, querida." She smiles brightly at this. Jade is definitely bringing out the motherly side of her.

"You don't have to ask for more food the next time. I don't think the cafeteria will ban people from eating."

"Can I try and make my own?"

"I'm not certain about making your own, but I don't think the kitchen staff will stop you for it," Spain explains to Jade, tucking a lock of hair behind the girl's ear. "No one should be denied the basic necessities like eating and drinking."

"So...they can make stuff too? Is it always the same?" Jade blushes, pulling her knees up onto the pew.

"From what I gather, they have a set menu for a certain time period." She smiles a little brighter, leaning back against the pew. "Normally I would take what they have, but sometimes I peek into the kitchens to see what else they stored inside."

"Oh..." that's something to consider, and Jade nods. "That's cool. There's a lot of weird food here."

"It would seem that way, but more often than not, strange food tastes good too."

"I like trying new food." Jade nods. Some of the things she's tried here have been...special, to say the least.

Spain smiles again, taking Jade's hand. "When we escape from here, I will bring you home and let you try all my cooking."

"That sounds really nice. I want to learn how to cook, too." A small smile appears on her face. She's not sure how she made so many friends, but they're a welcome change.
