Kitchen disastors! [Open]

Characters: Romeo and cake lovers?
Setting: Kitchens mid morning
Format: your choice!
Summary: Romeo wants to do something nice for his new friends, he has decided to make a cake. MESS HAPPENS
Warnings: potentially exploding cake!
Romeo entered the kitchen and put the book he had found in the library down on the counter. He had been thinking of doing something for his friends here and since everyone liked tasty food he had decided to make something. So he had found a cook book and a recipie for cake.

However Romeo had never baked before, back at home there really hadn't been much food at all and in Milano he had been banned from the kitchen in case he stole food. Apparantly chimney sweeps worked better when they were hungry. He found a big bowl and looked at the recipie. 2 oz Butter Romeo blinked he didn't know what a oz was. He opened the fridge and saw some blocks of butter. Two of them then.

2 oz Sugar Romeo nodded, this didn't look too hard, he grabbed two bags of sugar and added them to the butter. He looked back at the book. Cream the butter and sugar he sighed, so many ingredients!

He grabbed a tub of cream and added that. Two eggs; beaten. Romeo frowned, he hoped eggs didn't feel pain. "Sorry," he murmered to him before he punched each egg smashing them on the counter. He scooped the goo up, shell and all and added them to the mis and stired a bit. Mixture went everywhere but he kept it in the bowl as best as possible. 4 oz self raising flour. That was a lot of flour. He grabbed four small bags of flour and added them to the bowl. It said to fold so he stuck his hands in and tried to fold the ingredients around each other. He emptied it into the pan and quickly put it in the oven, sliding it into the oven by the floor because he didn't want to enter the cooker.

He cleaned up as best he could and when it had been the right amount of time he wrapped his hands in cloth and took the tray out. It looked burned and wobbly and when he placed it on the top the thin shell that had formed broke open. Hot cake mix went everywhere, spilling onto Romeo's shirt and down the bench.

For a moment Romeo just stood there eyes wide wondering what had gone wrong.

Chuckling, she took the gloves and put them on, opening the oven carefully. "Well, let's take a look!"

She slowly drew out the cake and set it on the bench, smiling widely. "It seems it did~" she chuckled, sniffing at the fresh cake. "We need to let it cool, but come see~"

Francisca chuckled and pulled her hands from the mitts, ruffling Romeo's hair. "Would you look at that? An ex-chimney sweep and an old woman like me managed to bake a cake!"

She moved back to the grill to check the steak before getting the potatoes from the sink, quickly skinning them and cutting them into large blocks before putting them in the pan with the steak, letting them cook in the juices.

Leaving the meat and potatoes to keep cooking, she returned to the work bench, getting butter from the fridge first. "Well, perhaps when you return to your world you can try making cake together now that you know how to?" she chuckled, buttering the slices of bread to prepare for the sandwich.

Humming, she gathered the lettuce and shook it gently in a bowl to get excess water off it before laying it on the bread. "Me? Hmm... Don't tell the other nations, especially the women, but I love pain perdu - ah, 'lost bread'. When I was younger, I used to make a basketful of it to eat with my friends while watching fireworks at night in Paris..." She paused and stroked her hair behind her ear. "It's quite easy to make, but I don't think we have rum in the tower... unfortunately. Ah well... Perhaps they'll give us some spirits one of these days?"

Turning to the cooked meat and potatoes, she turned off the grill and carefully brought the hot pan to the bench. Using a fork she sandwiched the hot steak between the bread and lettuce, smiling with satisfaction. She then put the potatoes on a plate before tipping the pan to pour the juices from the meat over them. "There you go - simple, but it should satisfy your appetite~"

"It's fried but I love stuffing it with fruits or cheese... Simple, but simple can be good," she chuckled.

"Ah, well I'll steal some of those potatoes if you don't mind~" she chuckled, grabbing a piece with her fingers before nibbling at it. "Come now, eat before it get's cold - if it were roast beef it would be nice either way but I find steak tastes a bit... off when it's cold."

"I'm glad," she chuckled, licking her fingers before standing. "Would you like something to drink with that? Perhaps they might have some juice in the fridge..."

"It's fine cher, just enjoy your sandwich while I go rummage around the fridge," she chuckled, petting him gently before heading for the fridge.

Finding the orange juice, France returned, grabbing a glass on the way. Seeing Romeo struggle a bit with the sandwich, she smiled as she poured him some juice. "Ah, don't force yourself to finish it, mon cher. If it's too much, I can leave part of it wrapped up and in the fridge or something."

At the question regarding the other nations, she stifled a laugh and answered, "Well, I like to be friends with most of them, but quite a few of them find me to be a bit too friendly."

RAWRGH this one's notif never showed up in my inboxes ;A;

Ah, how to word this for a child without informing him on the inappropriate behaviors of frisky adults...

"Well, people have different levels of comfort with others," she began, putting the glass of juice down before him. "Some people don't like to be touched and some prefer to keep others at a distance. Do you understand what I mean?"

She chuckled at his response. "You don't have to appear menacing to make them worry you'll hit them. Or worse." Tugging on her earring, she looked thoughtful before shrugging. "Nations by nature exist by taking over each other - or at least, that's how we came to be. Colonies spring from nations, and some grow to become a nation themselves. Some nations have been invaded so many times that they just loathe physical contact, and some hate being in the same room with their former invadors."

Francisca paused and stole another potato from Romeo's plate. "... I have. When my leaders insisted, I did as ordered. It's why I often wished they'd instead just let us nations fight it out amongst ourselves instead of insisting on war... Ah well, c'est la vie, unfortunately..."

She popped the spud into her mouth and munched on it, swallowing before adding, "Oh, but I haven't invaded any nations lately. Not for almost a century or longer I think."

"Well, they govern our people, who are an extension of ourselves so... To some extent, yes, they can. I mean, nations have rulers to have some form of law and order to maintain peace and functionality, so they are a necessity... and we need to obey them." She paused and twirled a lock of her hair around a finger, thinking of Louis, and how Elizabeth had been so dear to England. "... But sometimes, we love our rulers, and we do whatever we can to protect them.... and to keep them happy."

She stood and moved to the slowly cooling cake, carefully removing it from the tin and putting it on the cooling rack before returning to Romeo. "War is... unpleasant. But, sometimes necessary, unfortunately." With a sigh, she shook her head and glanced at Romeo's food with a smile. "Getting through that alright?"
