Loveline is on the case~!

Characters: Nanako Dojima and you!
Setting: October 12th evening, starting around room 3-15.
Format: Action, but I'll match you.
Summary: A very confused seven year old arrives at the Tower, and wonders why she's dressed up as her favorite character. ~~Does she need to hunt down onii-chan again?~~
Warnings: Gratuitous amounts of cute, and an over protective big brother.

[She could just barely make heads or tails of the note that had been left for her, and it did nothing to alleviate the confusion that was running through Nanako's head at the moment. All she had done was go to bed, slipping the picture of her, her father, and her brother under her pillow so that she could sleep better knowing that his image was close to her at least. Next, she was waking up in a strange bed in a strange place, dressed in her makeshift Loveline costume she had used to try and hunt her brother down over the summer past.]

[When she could finally move again she slid off the bed, clutching her toy mirror close to her chest. The last time she had appeared some place strange, it... hadn't ended well at all, and all she could think about was that terrifying man, and... Nanako swallowed back the fear that memory brought, steeling herself as she approached the door to leave the room, poking her head out into the corridor beyond before emerging. She had to be brave... her brother would want her to be brave right now, right?]

Onii-chan...

[...she wished he was here, because there was no way she could not be scared right now.]

Heeey!

[Looks like one of her new roommates had also just woken up.]

What'cha doin'?

[Nanako nearly jumped out of her skin, whirling around to stare at the source of the loud noise. After a moment she shrank back, not sure how to respond.]

U-um...

Hi. I'm Rei. What about you?

[Rei offers the girl a quick bow in greeting.]

[Little did she know... he was here, and after running into Rise? ...Well, he decided that it would likely be a good idea to check the other dorm floors for any familiar names. He noticed Chie's name, but didn't see her. Maybe he'd run into her later?

...But then he heard a tiny little voice, one that was far too familiar for him not to stop dead in his tracks.

It was her voice... his little sister's. There was no way he could ever mistake it for someone else, even though now that he thought about it, Izanami sounded like an older version of the same voice when she didn't have the whole...double-voice thing going on.

He'd heard it so many times in his memories and dreams, sometimes through Sraosha when he needed to be reminded of why he was still fighting regardless of the outcomes or the consequence of his actions. Part of him even hesitated to speak, especially after what he did and how he'd betrayed the Justice arcana so, yet when he saw the small being in that Loveline costume, he... removes the mask from his own costume with a soft click.

She didn't need to be scared by the yellow that mask made his eyes turn into. The gauntlets probably wouldn't help matters, either. Right now, she needed her big bro.]

...Nanako-?

['I'm here... Please don't be scared.']

N...Nanako.

[...well, she was polite, at least. Nanako returned the bow, looking up at the older girl shyly.]

[Nanako whirled around at that familiar voice, eyes widening slowly as she took in the sight behind her. He was wearing a strange costume, and yeah, it was a little frightening... but it was Yu. How could she find anything about him scary?]

Onii-chan!

[...and she was running straight for him, flinging her arms out for him. Look out, Yu, because you're about to get a flying tackle hug.]

[She nods.]

And what are you doing here, Nanako-chan? Is this NERV? Or some other place?

NERV?

[Nanako tilted her head curiously, wondering what that was supposed to be. She shook her head.]

I don't know... I just know this isn't Inaba.

Huh, strange.

[She notices the girl's curious glance.]

NERV is the place where I work. It's totally cool, but also totally secret. All I can say is that I get to play with robots.

[She glances around the room, thinking out loud about her situation.]

Well, since I'm not in NERV and I'm not in an EVA, I'm proooooobably gonna say this is some other world. Did you get a look at the people who brought us in here?

[...she was talking about funny stuff. And if this NERV thing was supposed to be secret, then why was she talking about it? So weird...]

[...and another world? That wasn't helping her right now.]

N-no, I didn't...

[Yeah. A lot of them are in strange costumes this month, it seems. Not that he exactly minded all that much since he know who he was dressed as and what it meant (but really, Ruana?). Still, he knew how intimidating his other self could be. Especially when mad.

So when Nanako starts to run at him? He places the naginata that came with it down and the small pumpkin full of candy so he could hold onto her. And look, it made him get into the perfect position for a certain bitty detective koala to cling around his neck!]

[For Rei, it was probably the strain of piloting the EVA.]

Sooo...are any of your friends or family here?

I... I don't know...

[She glanced down at her toy, thumb rolling around the button that would have it play a voice, but not depressing it. Would anyone be here...?]

[Yes, there was so much clinging to be had. Nanako flung her arms around his neck, hugging him tight and burying her face against his shoulder. Yes... everything was okay now; her brother was here, and apparently trick or treating. Wasn't it a little early for that?]

[Well, whatever. She clung to him for a long moment, just enjoying being against him and breathing in that wonderful smell he had. It was a long time before she finally pulled away, reaching up to rub at her eyes. She totally wasn't crying or anything, big brother; she just got fuzzies from your costume in her eyes. That's all. Totally.]

Onii-chan? Where are we? Why are we here?

I think I'm gonna go out and look for Shinji and 'Suka. Wanna come with me? We might be able to find your friends too!

[Nanako looked uncertain, hugging her toy to her chest.]

I... I want to try and find onii-chan on my own... if he's here...

[It was a long shot; Yu had left Inaba a few days ago. There was no telling if he would be in this place or not.]

"Your big brother?"

For a second, Rei is silent as she remembers her own family.

"I've got a brother too! Or, well, I guess you can call him that because he's Mommy's son. His name is Shinji. Ooh, I know! Maybe he's hanging out with your big brother right now!"

[...really? Nanako looked curious for a moment, wondering if her brother would know this Shinji person. After a moment, she finally nodded, silently agreeing to follow her.]

[Rei holds the door open for Nanako.]

So...what's Nanako-chan's big brother like?

[He's just going to hold onto her for a while, and even though she said she was alright, it... pains him to know that something may happen to her here that he can't save her from. No... He would do whatever it took to protect her regardless, would take anything that was meant for her...

He's glad that she took a while to pull away, because he doesn't know if he wouldn't have been "not crying" if she had looked up at him at any point before then. Ah, that's right... She likely couldn't read the note or was reeling from it far too much. That, and she likely didn't want to believe it as much as he didn't.

At first, he wonders if he should even respond to that. To be honest, part of him is terrified of answering because the moment he felt her arms wrapping around his neck and he embraces her back, he feels a pang of guilt and fear. What if she disappears when he lets go? What if he's changed so much that she's scared of him?

He just holds here there for a brief moment, not quite trusting his voice even as he hears Izanagi whispering in his mind.

Do not falter, child of man.

...The pain in his chest doesn't disappear when he nods faintly to the voice only he can hear. He knows, Izanagi... He knows. But there she is, in that Loveline costume... his cousin... little sister, and... seeing her tears...

...He couldn't help the faint smile crossing his lips (even if it's only to reassure her), or the thousands of thoughts rushing to the forefront of his mind (she's... she's alive). Zo, was this an attempt at kindness? Because if Jason, Ruana, or one of the others does anything to harm her--

He'd never forgive them.]

We don't know the exact name, but it's known as 'the tower'. [Along with a few obscene choices of words added along to it...

Also there is almost no way she can get fuzzies from his costume. Most of it is leather.]

[Nanako paused at that, trying to think of the best word to describe Yu.]

...very neutral.

That sorta sounds like Shinji.

[She pauses. Could this girl be some alternate form of Unit-01? From a world where there were no EVA or NERV?]

...His name isn't Shinji too, is it?

[S-shush, big brother. It's totally fuzzies.]

[She fumbled a bit at her face for a moment longer, not wanting her brother to see her crying that much. She was just so happy to see him that she couldn't help herself. Nanako finally took a breath, looking curious at him calling it a tower.]

Why are we all dressed up?

[She paused, reaching up and running a hand along Yu's leather clad shoulder.]

...you look weird.

[Nanako shook her head.]

No, it's Yu.

[Well, this is certainly a sight. A lost child looking for her brother and in what seems to be a sort of magical detective get-up.

...

...faded memories reconstructed. The times Yu has spent with her was at the forefront of that man's memories after all.

He's going to stop for a few seconds after walking past by her, turn around and well.

Greets her.]

Ah, hello. I can't help but notice you're looking for your brother.
