Seventh Fragment | Trick or Treat
Characters: Terra, the inhabitants of room 3-04, and later OPEN
Setting: All over the Tower, from the 10th to the 13th.
Format: ... I think I'll stick with [Action].
Summary: Terra's waking up in a very familiar set of clothes, and Does Not Approve for heartbreaking reasons. Also, lots of candy farming in the next few days. Clearly, the tower has a strange sense of humor.
Warnings: ... if anything comes up, I'l edit it in.
[As per the usual, Terra tended to wake up rather early on his own. While he might be an early riser, he takes a while to become fully alert unless something gives his sleep-addled mind a dose of reality.
Sitting up and stretching only to feel fabric move where there shouldn't be fabric and feel an odd weight around his torso when he knows he went to bed in a t-shirt and a pair of loose-fitting pants is... jarring enough to do it.
Quickly getting out of bed (and not feeling the floor against bare feet, but rather the sensation of the soles of sturdy boots hitting the ground with an... almost metal-sounding clack) and racing for a mirror, his mind starts going a mile a minute. Of course something was going to happen; it was a matter of time, and it was October--
He reaches the mirror and all the color drains out of his face as his eyes widen in shock. He recognizes this clothing; the white coat, the armor over his chest, the hakama, the emblem--
He's shaking. Even his hair has been pulled back into a facsimile of Master's top-knot, though his bangs and those uppermost spikes wouldn't cooperate. While he lacks the facial hair and the scars to make the 'costume' truly complete, it's enough to just make him... stare, disbelieving, for at least a minute before his mind catches up with the shock and grief that hit him at full-force.
His head hangs, and his fists become clenched at his side as the anger starts to set in.] ... Damn it...
[He turns to look back at his bed, and it's then that he sees the pumpkin and the note. ... ... he has a Bad Feeling about this...]
[Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, if his expression is anything to go by. Terra's ire seems to be directed at a piece of paper he is holding in one hand, though he'll occasionally glance at the silly jack-o-lantern candy bucket with a look of 'I can't believe I'm doing this' on his face.
Seriously. Forced trick-or-treating/scavenging for candy?]
[Terra was actually surprised by the amount of candy he had found in the books that were in his usual hiding place. It was certainly enough to meet the daily quotas the note had given him and then some; but coming to the library had a double purpose.
It was his usual hiding spot, after all. He was nothing else if not a creature of habit in this tower. He's taking a break from the gathering right now, reading a book and trying to take his mind off the fact that there has to be some kind of catch with the costume and the candy.]
[It's item farming time! Anyone willing to brave the dangers of the thirtieth floor will find Terra within, having fallen from the stairs and now fighting his way through. He probably won't be here very long; even a Keyblade Master can be caught off-guard when fighting a large crowd, so he's trying to make his way to the stairs as quickly as he can.
At least he can still use Mega Flare to give him some breathing space to heal himself.]

[Dormitory Room 3-04 - The morning of the 10th]

Floor 39 - 10th
She was on floor 39 - practicing some hand-to-hand that Reno taught her - when the pressure had become difficult, though thankfully it hadn't taken long to find the first quota and for the pressure to ease, leaving her sitting there, breathing heavily - and gratefully.
She's trying not to look at her outfit though. She's never seen it in person but... she knows whose outfit it is. Someone Sora knows.
She looks up when she hears footsteps though, and sees Terra, with his own pumpkin, wearing an outfit he normally doesn't]
You too?
no subject
The tower seemed to enjoy cruel irony. He could only sigh and hang his head a little.] Yeah.
[Given the consequences of not meeting that stupid candy quota, he's really wishing he could just change into the stupid Black Coat and be done with it. Hell. He'd even take his hair getting turned white and orange contacts--
... on second thought, nevermind. Being Xemnas for Halloween would suck a lot worse.
He sighs, puts the note that came with the candy bucket in a pocket, and idly scratches at the back of his head, looking irritated again.] The person in charge this month must have a sick sense of humor.
Floor 30, the 13th
When he saw the man fighting through the monsters Romeo put his bucket on the stairs and ran to the edge. "Sir do you need help?"
1/2
He pivots on the ball of his right foot, turning counter-clockwise towards the sound of the voice, only to find himself dodging an incoming swipe from the blade of a mutated Invisible and a mob of NeoShadows. Focusing on the face of the other person on this level--
... it's the kid that showed up when he was making pancakes a little more than a week ago. Oh, hell--] Get out of here -- this place is dangerous!
[Case in point-- one of the Darkballs darting around at random and smacking him right in the back, knocking him to the ground.]
2/2
He uses Ends of the Earth as a make-shift cane to help him get back on his feet, and then he calls Guardian Soul to his free hand and starts fighting his way through the large gathering of mutated Heartless, his eyes now wide with panic and worry for the non-combatant on the stairs that could give way at any second.
For the love of all things good in the universe, stairs, don't give out!]
no subject
He had been nice to Romeo; and so Romeo wouldn't leave him to fight alone, he kicked and struggled and slashed with his homemade knife trying not to be too scared.
He's getting swarmed though... Romeo makes Good Decisions...]
no subject
Terra's eyes go wide with fear the second the boy jumps off the stairs. What is he trying to do--
... no. NO. He won't let this kid become a Heartless! That second of fear/shock-induced paralysis fades away, and he moves faster than he thought possible, slashing through the NeoShadows in his way and getting within range of the Heartless swarming the boy.
The second Keyblade gets dismissed, and the first is raised into the air, his magic following the path of the blade.] Gather!
[Magnega does it's job perfectly, drawing in any Heartless into orbit around the magical magnetic orb hanging in the air. That barely gives him an extra minute, but it should be all he needs.
He comes to a stop in front of the kid, and without a moment's hesitation, he points Ends of the Earth in front of him. Light gathers at the tip, and then is fired at a keyhole that appears in mid-air. It disappears, only to be replaced by a portal, the third floor library barely visible on the other side of the swirling white vortex.
That's one escape route.] Get going; I'll be right behind you.
[Judging from the worried and rushed tone in his voice? That wasn't a suggestion.]

10th - Floor 4
Right now he is sitting in a chair close to the windows on Floor Four, turning a piece of candy between his fingers as he watches the heavy rain that has been lasting for several days now already.
Someone is setting the mood it seems. For what though, he wonders.]
no subject
Terra almost looks amused when he sees Riku sitting in the lounge watching the rain. He's not sure why-- something about the image that his student is inadvertently projecting completely clashing with the ridiculousness of that costume.] Munny for your thoughts?
[The atmosphere is gloomy enough without you adding to it, Riku.]
no subject
Also well, he would have chosen to wear something less cheery if he had had any chance in that. He leans back and looks up to Terra, not showing any recognition upon seeing his costume.]
...Just wondering what our hosts are up to this time.
[You know... aside of making some of them look utterly ridiculous.]
no subject
Well, here's that irritation again. He's going to be holding up that note.] Forced trick-or-treating, if this is anything to go by.
[The look on his face is one of pure incredulity. If he goes by technicalities, then he's in his freaking thirties.] I'm wondering what the catch is.
[Brainstorming time.]
no subject
Riku doesn't look all that happy either; he could live with the trick-or-treating (even though he is totally too old for it as well) - but the costume. Is way too bright. And just. Yeah. Ridiculous times he doesn't even.
He nods at that, twisting his piece of candy between his fingers again.]
Well... if Valentine's Day was anything to go by, I don't recommend eating the candy.
no subject
Sanshi and Gohran (in puppy form) were both with him, and he ran round the meadow finding the five pieces of candy he needed, taking no more in case there wasn't enough to go round.
He saw Terra and smiled nervously. "Hello..."
10th - floor 10
you want the candy?]
Re: 10th - floor 10
It's like looking into a magic mirror, and seeing a window into time in the glass instead of yourself. The tensed body language that practically screams 'guarded, thinking, and suspicious of this', the shorter hair, the clothing, the armor that still looks well-cared for--
His heart twists, and he almost turns around and leaves right there. But... something keeps him there.
... okay. Stepping up. Try to keep this casual, as if it's just another day in the tower and there's nothing weird about literally talking to yourself.] Bad day?
[Yeah, pretend this is normal. Even if he's internally spazzing.]
Re: 10th - floor 10
I've had worse.
[so he turns his head - and freezes.
'unexpected' might be a little too mild.]
Who...
[...bit of a stupid question, but. Terra knows full well about the multiple versions, he's seen it before, but for some reason he'd never thought of it in regards to himself. he turns fully, and stares, and wonders what the hell to say. IT'S OKAY TERRA JUST PLAY IT COOL]
Um. You...uh. ...Why do you have the Master's...
[...d'oh]
no subject
Though it's a little easier when seeing that look of utter bafflement on his younger self's face. It's kind of priceless.] Mm. I know. Kinda hard to forget.
[He cringes a little at the reminder of what he's been forced to wear for the tower's newest 'game'.] Whoever's in charge this month decided to celebrate Halloween a little early.
[He's going to hand over that note with the daily quotas written on it. If his scowl is anything to go by, he is Not Happy.]
no subject
Terra's looking at the note and at...self...like either is going to explode, before gingerly taking it to look. UGH TOWER WHY]
This Tower sure has a bad sense of humor.
[...nope, still awkward. why can't diffusing tension be as easy as Ven makes it...]
Oh, uh. Here. It was stuck to the aquarium glass.
[holding out the little brightly wrapped toffee...or whatever it is.]
no subject
And yes, that was a small 'hmph' of amusement.] No kidding. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with this latest incident.
[Because Ven is a master at diffusing tension. Blinking-- hmm?] Uh... thanks.
[Just going to be taking that and looking it over as if it's a ticking time bomb before dropping it in his bucket. For all he knows, with the administrator's senses of humor, it could be.
He looks back at his younger self and tilts his head slightly to one side, trying to determine by sight alone what point in their personal timelines he was actually from. It takes a few seconds before realizing the futility of this, and he sighs, deciding to just bite the bullet and ask.] We might as well get our histories straight. What's the last thing you remember from home?
[He's almost hoping that it's from something later than earlier. It'd mean less he'd have to either reveal or keep hidden.]
no subject
the body language says everything: he shrinks backwards, and a little inwards; his expression also seems to shut down some. there's a small roaring in his ears as Terra tries to find the strength to admit to his failure.]
Xehanort...won.
[it's all he can manage. squeezing his eyes shut and pressing his lips tightly together against the relatively fresh memory of fighting, fighting so hard--]
no subject
--that fight, when he turned the tables on the bastard at the very end, because of Aqua. A small smirk forms.] No, he didn't.
[Someone has a story to tell.]
no subject
Terra's head snaps up, his face showing all the hesitant hope he can't voice-]
--How?
no subject
[At least, to the best of his ability. Braig, and then Xigbar, trying every little way to get Xehanort behind the wheels instead of the amnesiac personality that he was guiding. The smirk from not even a minute earlier now gone, a serious and almost weary look on his face.] The cost was ... high. But I'd pay it again.
Floor 3, any day
[So hopefully he won't mind the disturbance, but there's someone moving about quietly on the other side of the bookshelf nearest him.]
aksdfa;kj I'm so sorry for the late
Hm... there's an odd feeling coming from that direction. Not quite a Nobody, more like... an echo? Who could that be?] Is someone there?
fdfgjdfgbjdkf no problem 8A8
Yes...!
[Already she's fairly certain she recognizes her company, but after a brief moment, she makes her way around to the edge of the bookshelf to peer around it.]
no subject
[He's honestly a little surprised at himself for not realizing it was her sooner; she had a very unique feeling about her.] What brings you down here?
no subject
Hello, Terra. Nothing special. I... like it here. It's quiet, and-- I feel safe here, with all these books around. [By which she's really saying it's a place that's easy to hide in.] You know what I mean, don't you?
