002 -
Setting: October 13th, Various times/locations
Format: Prose & Action (mixing it up a bit!)
Summary: It's time to stop moping and start being constructive. Sephiroth always has to be occupied and that gymnasium just begs to be used. Then afterward, pumpkin food, even if 2 days in it's starting to get old.
Warnings: Part 3 - Shower nudity if you're imaginative enough. (Will edit as necessary)
1)Dorm 3-02 & Hallway outside
What a weird couple of days, that was to say the least. After getting the Dormitory levels down to memory, he'd explored further afield. Not much further than a few floors around the floors serviced by the elevator but this tower seemed to be a little monster-prone so he figured to play it safe and stick close to where others would be more likely to pass through. At least for the time being, the monsters he had come across didn't seem too challenging for Masamune. There was candy everywhere though, and some of the costumes on other residents he'd spied were really bordering on disturbing. He was glad he'd not been singled out for that game.
However yesterday he'd discovered the gymnasium. If he had no other idea where to go or what to do inside the tower the very least he could do would be to keep himself in top condition for whatever challenge might be put in his way. Be prepared, certainly seemed the best bet. He intended to make the most of that facility today.
Sleeping in a dormitory with three other bodies in the room was pretty hard to get over to start with but eventually he'd nod off. Waking up and each morning so far reminding himself that the foreign object around his neck wasn't coming off was becoming something of a ritual also. What it meant, that he was somehow owned by someone, was just too much to be reminded of first off each day. Perhaps going to the gym would take his mind off of it and refocus him onto some worthwhile pursuit. He'd calmed a little since his arrival, not being so frantic in his urgency to know. It was clear he wasn't getting out anytime soon.
So, doing his best to ignore the slight chill in the air Sephiroth clad himself in pants and boots only today. He had limited clothing as it was, last thing he needed was getting sweaty in a big leather jacket that then may start to stink out their dorm. Afterward he could even drop by the showers and clean up.
Shortly after, he headed through all the similar corridors heading for the lift.
2) Floor 39 - Gymnasium
[The things to do to consume time in a gymnasium. Several laps around the track, weights, punching bag; Sephiroth may yet have found his favourite floor thus far in the Tower. Never mind some of the weights didn't have labels or were way too heavy for what they looked like - it seemed stupid to just pick up without testing first. Same with the machines that looked broken; just don't go near them. And so Sephiroth can be found being constructive in keeping himself fit, pushing his own limits or maybe just laying into the punching bag. In his own world though he's too aware of his own surroundings not to notice other people that might be there.]
3) Later back to Dorm Level 3 - Clean Up
That sure felt good. There was nothing like a good workout to get those endorphins pulsing and even the fine sheen of freshly worked up sweat felt refreshing. Thoughts that had plagued Sephiroth for the last couple of days concerning the Tower and his predicament were suitably all punched, pumped or ran out of their immediate need to be resolved. Maybe he'd be able to see more of the forest now, instead of the trees. To a certain extent the violet collar had been forgotten, though he still was aware of its presence; sometimes he'd brush it with a hand or he would move a certain way which would remind him it was there. It made him tense to think about it.
There was only one thing left to do: clean up. Sephiroth found it strange that a fully stocked gymnasium didn't have showers included but he did know where there were some. Thankfully the dorm levels were indeed equipped with necessary amenities. He could even hang the leather pants inside out to air over the side of the stand he was using. Hot water over skin and through long silver hair was just the thing needed right now, though perhaps he wouldn't stay as long as he felt like under the water. The sound of the shower could too easily mask anything else that might be going on, and he didn't like the idea of being caught with his guard down now. Paranoid much? Maybe but there was some weird sh*t going on around this Tower right now, with costumes and candy and not to mention the rather strange other residents he'd met so far.
4) Floor 1 Cafeteria: Dinnertime
Having realized that the monsters can be more active towards the late hours of the day, Sephiroth had returned to the dorm and fully suited up with jacket and armor before he'd ventured down for food. For dinner in the Cafeteria it's pumpkin bread and water. Second day of pumpkin-based menu. At least it wasn't that damn oatmeal he'd experienced on that first day. That being said, was this all they were going to ever eat? Pumpkin wasn't particularly repulsive to eat and the bread option mixed the taste up a little but how many more days would it be before there would be another choice on the menu. He knew of the restaurant he could go to instead but he wasn't sure he knew the Tower well enough yet to go foraging in exchange for food.
Sephiroth would always try to sit on his own at a table in a position which no one could get behind him without him knowing about it, and somewhere he could see the doors. The costumed residents just confused him, so he'd try to avoid them mostly as well.

wordy wordy wordy. Action just can't stay small for me...
I doubt that would put me in a very positive position. [Doubtless, a few days ago when Sephiroth woke up first in the Dormitory the first instinct to come out of his discovery of the collar had been to destroy it. It hadn't worked, and from that he'd figured that trying to destroy the Tower as an extension would be as fruitless.]
With regards to my Mother, we're in a new world right now. [Smirk]
No reason why I shouldn't be able to make it mine. [Some small part of Sephiroth still clung to the belief that somehow JENOVA had saved him, put him here and there could be no other logical purpose than to continue to live up to his destiny and go on conquering worlds. Destroying the weaker ones in his wake]
and i r slow to reply ;;;
[ He was joking just a little, though his face and voice didn't express it as one. Cloud had been around when a flying whale ran into the Tower, leaving huge gaping holes and sending fresh monsters through the corridors. Even Sephiroth with his capability for destruction wouldn't destroy this place, only make it shake and lose a couple rooms before returning to how it was. ]
She's not your mother. [ A beat and a shrug. ] The Planet was still standing after I sent you back, and she took care of the remains of the stigma. It was still around months later which was when I was pulled in from.
[ He studied Sephiroth's face, looking for cracks and wondering about how much he did remember. ] Have you had your collar checked yet?
damn....awkward....
[And why not? Sephiroth refused to accept, to let this place get under his skin and eventually break him. He hadn't let the Planet defeat him before and he had no intention of giving anyone a chance this time. Cloud could well be part of the Tower's way of trying to accomplish this.]
[Sephiroth's face was a facade of cooly controlled fury. Revenge simmered so close to the surface, but what if the the Tower wanted that? To prove they could divert his hatred of Cloud whichever way they wanted. So he held back. For now.]
No. Don't intend to either.
oooopsy..?
He could almost feel the anger coming off of Sephiroth's skin. At one point in time, he might have flinched or take a defensive step back. But there were far worse things in this Tower than facing the former general's temper. Even death wasn't something that he should be afraid of.
So instead of caution or even defensive, Cloud watched him with a disinterested, almost bored, expression on his face, not even making a move for the sword resting comfortably on his back. ]
It isn't like you have a choice about that. They'll grab you and bring you to the labs no matter what you try. The people running this place says it's to make sure we remain stable, but I sometimes think that it's just to show just how much we're really worth to them.
easy does it ....
Could it be? Neither of them had anything left to fight for?]
Let them try, then. If I'm so important to them then they can learn that there are certain things I will not do.
take deep breaths.......
[ Doesn't he remember the labs? Cloud frowned, shifting his stance in order to frown at the floor. His memories might be shattered and scattered, but he knew enough to know that the mere sight of a white coat had him cringing. The mere hint of a hospital smell made him break out in a sweat. The mere sight of a needle sent him into a panic fight or flight mentality.
No, the best way for him to go to those bi-monthly check-ups was for him to be unconscious. ]
Want to or not, they'll do it anyways.
Re: take deep breaths.......
They'll try. Like I said. I'm not about to just go and lie down and take anything if I don't know what it's about. [He looked Cloud up and down, knowingly.] No more than you like the idea.
[Even if Sephiroth didn't remember the labs from his youth, he still disliked it the same way. It's a fine line between Sephiroth giving up any gram of his control, his willpower, and ghosts of the past.]

No one likes being made into another person's puppet.

[It was simply a statement of fact to Sephiroth, not intended to spark any reaction from Cloud but as ever, truth hurts. Maybe it would break this cool facade of Cloud's, which Sephiroth could only believe was just a front intended completely to infuriate him.
He didn't want to draw this poisoning conversation inward to himself; how it was obvious he'd now be expected to submit the same way.]

[ a blank statement of something that he had thought about. Sephiroth easily believed the ramblings of Hojo combined with JENOVA's influences. Who knows what might have happened if he did not believe that the creature was his mother. He might not have gone on a rampage or it might have been for something completely different. Who knew. ]

He'd been a puppet before for sure, for ShinRa, and it had been suitably magnificent when he'd broken those strings. That much he did remember even if the various specifics pre-crisis were lost forever. Sephiroth had no doubt that even though things looked grim right now in this place, they would eventually lose control over him enough for him to rip it from their grasp.]
You'll never understand.
[Denial? No. Only firm belief that he was a puppet before and liberated, solid conviction that the eventual merging with JENOVA was inevitable destiny.]

No, I won't. I never had an alien lifeforce tell me it's my mother or that I must destroy a planet.

[Truth is in the end, JENOVA only provided the vessel. The means by which he could accomplish his goals, his revenge, the development of his power. Sure it had been her destiny before his, but she had been betrayed. He had been betrayed also, there was a lot of making up to do for all of that. His willpower was his own and was the key to making it all a reality.
Besides, her relevance as his Mother was purely biological. Nothing more, but sure she had given him much more in life than his surrogate parents had - she had earned that role.]

[ Might equals right? No, not any more. Might cannot make anything right. It couldn't bring back the dead, it couldn't repair the living, all it could do was destroy and destroy. What kind of revenge needed to destroy everything? When there was nothing left, did it matter who was the guilty party? ]

Ex-SOLDIER Cloud.
[Sephiroth tried not to smirk as he launched a powerful left hook into the punching bag before turning and starting to walk away from Cloud. Perhaps when there was nothing left to fight for, there was nothing left much to say to him. No more Gaia, no more JENOVA - everything for nothing. Another defeat of sorts.]
