Summary: A thief in the night has Fran turning a different shade of devil.
Warnings: Manipulation, partially clothed demon!France, and other unsavory things. Gore. Bad behavior the longer the month drags out.

[ October 14th, evening ]

[ When France woke up dressed like a dashing devil, he'd thought to himself Well, it's better than last year! before getting out of bed and starting to collect candy. He could play games-- especially if the warning of 'or else' hung over his head so cheerfully. Collect candy, go about his day, look handsome... typical French routine come this time of year. With less scantily clad 'nurses', unfortunately.

The second message alerting residences that candy would be harder to come by came several days later. The 'or else' became a little more worrying in France's mind. He didn't LIKE what the tower did most of the time -- and that was on the good days where there weren't direct threats!

It's while he's sleeping on the 14th that something goes terribly awry and he's woken to being strangled by his vest. Checking the contents of his pumpkin, he realizes that half of his candy is gone. If you see him in the halls, be warned that he's a desperate man searching for over a dozen chocolates. He's not going to be all that pleasant. Deeply sorry. Care to help a man out, or is that impending doom keeping you tight-fisted?]

[ October 15th, post death ]

[ Whatever attempts France goes through on the evening of the 14th failed around the time he braved the forest. There'd been little he could find before his costume finally cinched the last breath out of him and when he wakes in the morning the situation is not a pleasant one.

It's not that he's died that bothers him the most. Not at all; he's grown a little accustomed to the idea in this place. He just..doesn't recall how he's gone from a glamorized demon to a more literal version, grotesque red skin, horns, and all. Maybe you'll spy him in the cafeteria, or roaming the halls. Maybe he's hiding away while trying to look for chocolates in hopes to cure his current ailment. He's not dangerous to stop and question yet. ]

[ Later in the month ]

[ Have a confession you need to let off your chest? A moral dilemma? Come to papa. He won't hurt you. Much. ]

 

(ooc: Playing it by ear here. He's not as social toward the beginning but expect that to change toward the end of month where he's set on manipulating those with weak conviction. Modest? What's that... )

[He winces at the mention of thought alteration.]

You're still mostly yourself, right? Or do you think you're going to end up turning into someone else at any point?

For the moment. I've seen the whole tower turn against itself before though-- perfectly normal people hunting down others. So. [He frowned, headache coming on.] It's not like I'm simply letting it happen to me, but situations such as these are always more complicated than mind over matter.

Ah...so it's that kind of thing.

[He's dealt with enough madness, especially of the mind-numbing rage variety, in his lifetime to have some inkling of what the man is talking about.]

Does it look to be the case here? Are there people walking around who would be...too dangerous or aggressive?

[He looked down at himself with a grimace which in turn only makes his horns ache more. Dangerous?]

My educated guess, monsieur, would be a yes.

[Just look at some of the people that come back from the dead looking grotesque. Thinking out loud now:] They never just focus on the outside appearances. They are much more thorough with what they do.

[He focuses on France for a moment.]

Hey...if it ever gets to be too much for you. Like, too much pain or you can't control yourself anymore...do you have anyone who could help you end it?

[the question surprises him, but he has to think for a minute or two. there's people here that have wanted him dead multiple times in the past and there's also those that would consider death in situations such as these a mercy kill-- but none of them he really wishes to utilize. he settles for shaking his head]

I couldn't do that to those that would. I've been through many things before. I will be fine.

Alright. But man, this is just shaping up to be a huge mess.

[Not that Lancer wouldn't kill anyone who becomes a danger to him or to Ayaka.]

You think? I remember back home when Halloween was enjoyable. [sighing-- ah, the near arrests, the parties, the festivities. none of them involved getting changed into a literal demon. he did nt like it at all.]

Perhaps I am just being a reminiscent old man...

[But God, does he want to go home.]

I've never celebrated Halloween. Heard about it, but never celebrated it.

[The closest he came was Samhain, but even then, it bore little resemblance to the modern festival.]

[Wry:] Then I'm sorry this had to be your first.

How are you doing in regards to candy? Perhaps I could find a way to gather some. I can't save myself but I could do a bit of good.

[Which will only turn horrible later on, but you know...]

Eh, I'm fine. If worst comes to worst, I'll just prioritize Ayaka.

Who is this Ayaka? Someone important, obviously, non?

[France should be doing the same, but he's distracted. It's unfortunate that he probably wouldn't be able to save his companions in the first place as he failed to save himself. It's the thought that he would that counts.]

...Yeah, someone very important. Someone I have obligations to.

[His Master. It's still a bit awkward for him to call her that, but they did make a Contract back in their world.]

Hell, she's probably the most important thing in this Tower right now.
