003 ~ Idrial
Characters: Idrial and you!
Setting: No specific place. Can be anywhere in the Tower really.
Format: Fine with anything!
Summary: Since Idrial's not part of the costume plot she's spending her time practicing her sowrd skills! She needs to keep sharp after all.
Warnings: None!
[So, if anyone's wandering the Tower today they might well come across Idrial practicing her sword skills. It has been a long time now since she has used her sword properly...well, at least it seems like a long time to her. Plus, she wants something to do to occupy her time with. Of course the sword that she's using at the moment is the one that was in her trunk and also the one she had taken on her last journey with her so it's quite worn. But it will do for now until she can find herself another.
Under her breath she is reciting Elven phrases.
Feel free to interrupt the graceful moves of Idrial if you so wish, don't worry she's not going to hurt you. Oh and if you mention how much you'd love to use a sword she might very well offer to teach you a thing or two!]

Ooooh someone to spar with?! xD
Yeeeees! xD
This is going to be such fun
Impressive. Though your spacial awareness could do with more focus.
:3
I am ashamed to say that I lack practice with my sword at present. You an expert in swordplay yourself?
no subject
Somewhat of an expert. [Sephiroth flicked his left hand out in front of him and Masamune appeared as if it had been an optical illusion and had been there all along. Over seven feet of gleamingly sharp, delicate katana stretched out from the hilt at his hand before it was swung gracefully back into a ready stance. The edge curled towards her from his shoulder similar in a way, to how a scorpion would be ready to strike.]
Care for a spar?

Confidence is an important quality in a warrior but only if it is merited. [An eyebrow arches as his weapon appears in his hands but only for a second. She is not slow in her reaction. Moments after he takes his stance she takes up her own defensive position, her sword pointing in his direction once again.]
I would never turn down such an offer.
no subject
Good to know. [Indeed it was, one had to keep his skills as sharp as his blade and Sephiroth felt that in the Tower along with complacency would also come laziness, the very will to retain the values one arrived here with ran the risk of withering and dying.
Sephiroth made the first move towards the elven warrior, his first move a very basic drop from his stance and wide slash to the side. He intended fully to work up from basic technique to as far as she was capable so he could learn a technical balance between the two of them that would eventually benefit them both. It was a spar and to kill her would only lose him a partner in practice.]

The fact that it has been a long time since Idrial has been in combat should become apparent to him pretty quickly. Since returning to her own homeland and then arriving here she has become quite complacent and though her skills have not been forgotten she is a little slower and a little less fluid with her movements than she would usually be. Thankfully her mind is still as sharp as ever which means he reaction time is quick.
She dodges his initial attack easily and quickly retaliates with an attack of her own, spinning her body around completely, her blade arcing diagonally towards him. Of course she too does not have the intention to kill but she's not going to make it too easy.]
no subject
If not out of some distorted sense of manners, then definitely due to the need to keep his own skills sharp. If it meant he'd pretty much have to near-train the other person up to the standard in which he could really get something out of it then he may well have to. At least she had the reaction times to match him somehow, so it didn't feel so much like playing with a child.
Blades sang along each other as her diagonal counter-attack was parried along the length of it's edge and upwards before breaking apart. Sephiroth delivered a similar offensive in return, though it was much longer drawn out due to the size of Masamune. Allowing her to deflect the strike in a similar way that he had done.]
no subject
A child? She would be more than offended by such an accusation.
She has to admit, he's good. So good that it takes her a little longer than usual to reflect his attack. She does deflect it but it sends her reeling backwards. She gains her balance quickly though her mouth is now a thin line, disappointment in herself clear.]
I am rustier than I thought...

[Sephiroth offered an understanding nod and elegantly delivered an almost regal bow back onto the rear positioned leg in his stance. Wondering why it was that elves seemed to emit royalty in their presences and why it seemed fitting to act that way. An odd sort of respect for their grace at the very least.]
What's important is to refuse it.
[Of course he referred to much more than just the situation in which the two of them were sparring. Referring to the Tower in general, it's concept and associated rules. It sparked a flare of anger within his essence, a flare which was so keenly sparked and even embraced on some occasions. It reflected in green orbs and in a slight tension to his stance. Waiting patiently for their spar to resume.]

[Like making sure the Lady of Light makes her way to the Undying Lands before it is too late. Not that she can do that here. She notes his slight bow however and she will incline her head ever so slightly in response to it.]
Refuse it? I have never thought of it in such a way before but I believe you are right.
[She will refuse the reluctance and slight doubt she is feeling in her mind to overcome her. At least she will try to. As he waits for their spar to resume she is thinking of her next move. She closes her eyes for a moment before she spins, ducking down to make a low swipe at his legs before quickly bringing the blade back to defend any attacks from him in return.]
no subject
Cooly, he waited until a split second before the low blow would connect before stepping back to dodge it. However this didn't take Masamune out of range at all, and her attack was quickly followed with a wide slash to roughly her shoulder height. Inviting her to parry though at the same time making her think about where she might be opening her guard with certain strikes.]
no subject
Of course she is opening her guard but she is not exactly used to fighting without the aid of her abilities. Without the presence of nature around her she cannot summon the spirits of water to her will as easily as she may have done in the past. Perhaps she was also getting too used to battling as a group rather than one-on-one combat. However, she parries the attack without too much trouble. Taking a deep breath she lunges forward, attacks coming one after another in quick succession as she attempts to break his guard.]
no subject
He clearly was a lot more versed in one-on-one combat; though she certainly wasn't without advantage on the agility side of things.]
no subject
The goddess stepped into the room Idrial was practicing and watched quietly though she was sure she'd be easily noticed, currently garbed in her armor thanks to the mischief the towers administrators had wrought.]
no subject
When she does turn the sword is pointed in her direction a moment before she lowers it and bows her head in acknowledgement of her presence.]
Greetings.
no subject
[Lenneth smiles to the 'young' woman and watches her sword lower. The goddess had almost feared that she would find herself at the end of her sword despite being quite capable of defending herself.]
Forgive me if I've intruded. I heard you speaking and then grew interested in watching you practice. So rarely have I the honor of watching another.
[Not quite true but not a lie, either. She almost never saw anyone training since she arrived though her time here had been short so far.]
no subject
You have no need to apologize, my Lady. I was simply practicing some skills that I have not had the opportunity to use in so long. It would not do well to forget them after all.
You are familiar with the skills yourself?
no subject
[Some was an understatement, since she was a goddess who spent several lifetimes collecting the souls of dying warriors. And at her side hung Angel Slayer, Glance Reviver having been gifted to Haldir.]
It does not look as though your skills have lost any of their potency. Though, forgive me if I seem forward, your blade seems to be in need of some care.
no subject
[There is something to be said for modesty. Sometimes it is better to be honest after all, when it comes to battling it doesn't do will to give away too much to your opponent. Not that Idrial plans on battling this woman.]
There is nothing to forgive, you are right. Unfortunately my blade has seen many battles recently and I did not have a chance to acquire a new one before I found myself here.
no subject
[Lenneth stays standing where she is but she eyes the blade curiously, wondering if perhaps...]
May I see it a moment? I may be able to repair it.
no subject
[Idrial might be slightly reluctant to hand her blade over. It's not because she does not trust the woman it is probably just out of principle but after a brief moments hesitation she offers it over.]
Please, take it. I would be forever grateful to you if you were able to do so.
no subject
[Color her curious.
As Idrial hands her the blade, Lenneth looks it over carefully and handles it gently. Then a light overs it and her hands as she runs them lightly over it. By the time it fades, it's as though it had never dulled and Lenneth returns it to her with a smile.]
I hope that it will continue to serve you well.
no subject
[Idrial's eyes never leave Lanneth as she takes the blade off her. She is happy to see that she handles the weapon with such care and she immediately can tell her weapon is in good hands. She watches as the light covers the blade and when it's offered back to her she takes it.
She turns the blade over in her hands.]
It is as if it has only been forged, how can it be?
no subject
[She feels a bit tired, for only a moment though, at the use of her ability but she smiles. It's been some time since she's needed to do anything of the sort.]
I have an ability called Divine Materialization. My sisters and I are capable of creating objects but as All-Mother my own capabilities evolved. I can alter and repair armor or weapons.
no subject
[It takes her a moment to take the information in, eyes still on the sword in her hands. 'All-Mother' is not a title she is familiar with but she can tell its importance.]
Indeed, it is a generous gift that has been bestowed upon you and your sisters. In a place such as this the ability must come in great use. Tell me, what is it I can do for you to repay such kindness?
no subject
[Haldir had been quick to guess her divinity. She had no doubt that Idrial would discover it on her own, as well.]
Is it indeed, and it does prove to be useful. I'm never at need for arrows when I wish to use a bow. [A small smile for that.]
Treat the sword well and you will have repayed me greatly. And I will repair it again should the need arise.
