Setting: Room 2-14 & Dorm Floor 2 Hallways, 1st November
Format: Action to start with, will match though.
Summary: Riku wakes to a strange bat sitting on his chest. Clearly this needs to be investigated.
Warnings: slightly irritated Keyblade Wielders, possibly dream eater induced cavities

[Awakening feels a little like floating, and Riku's mind is delightfully empty of thoughts and feelings, twisted or otherwise. After the last ten days of first fighting the corruption, then eventually succumbing to it, it's a rather welcome change.

For the first time in a while he feels somewhat at peace again.

As much as he would like to turn around and let himself fall into the oblivion of sleep - a little longer at least - he can't. He needs to get up and check on everyone else. Given how much of a blur the later half of the last week is (one that he is not sure he even wants to entangle) he needs to make sure that he hasn't harmed anyone, or anyone he cares about at least.

The first thing he sees upon opening his eyes is a blur of yellow and pink fur and four-point-star-shaped-eyes blinking down at-

The next moment he's thrown himself off the bed, yelping as he gets tangled up in his sheets and stumbles to the ground, air ringing as he calls up on Way to the Dawn - he remembers last month and the selective bed-monsters. ...Though admittedly the rather confused head(/body?) tilt this... monster(?) is giving him doesn't bear all too much resemblance to that.

Nevertheless Riku keeps his weapon between them as he climbs to his feet, lips pressing together as it flatters closer, eyes narrowing when he catches sight of the stripe of paper that has gotten caught behind one of the bat-thing's large ears, warily reaching over to tug it free.

...

Awww, too bad. But you tried hard and did a lot of work anyway, so here's a consolation prize!

The blank face Riku is making upon reading this, is probably saying enough about just how he feels about this.]

...You got to be kidding me.

[He jerks away slightly when he notices that the bat has snuck over and is trying to sit down on his shoulder.

...Well, it doesn't seem vicious so far. And admittedly he doesn't sense any foul darkness from it.

Still, he is not about to trust that yet.

A moment later he is out in the hallway, the bat fluttering after him, cheerfully chirping and seemingly oblivious to its owner's distrust.

Time to see if anyone else had ended up with strange pets.]

[Not sure about the whole "strange" factor, but when one wakes up to find themselves back to normal after gods knows how many times he killed during that time, he wasn't sure what to think of suddenly feeling little claws kneading his stomach before a certain new pet curling up for a nap, either. So he was just carrying it in his arms because he has a soft spot for felines because it's rude to interrupt something that's sleeping no wait both of those strikeouts were relevant when he noticed a certain friend of his being followed by--

...Was that a bat?

Blinking, he paused in his step for a second there because 1. It was cute, and 2. He saw how much he distrusted it just like he semi-distrusted the passive-aggressive nature of the note and suddenly kitten. Seriously-]

Guess I'm not the only one to wake up with a new 'friend.'

[Well the whole business of being given pets by Ruana is kind of strange in itself, so the cat probably counts. Even though it looks far more normal than Riku's... whatever-bat-thing. Strikeouts are always the most relevant of all!

Yes it is! Or you know. At least a bat-lookalike-creature.

And as cute as it might be, Riku is still not going to let it sit down on his shoulder, no matter how many times it tries to.

He glances at the kitten in Yu's arms, then at his own new 'companion', frowning.]

Guess so. Though at least yours seems normal.

[Seems. Appearance can be very deceiving after all.]

[That it is. He tilts his head at the bat-thing, a little curious because for a moment, it reminds him of Teddie's bear suit in the cute but probably distantly related to something bad.]

I'm personally just waiting to turn around and see it grow a tail before becoming a nekomata.

[Because seriously, a cat that normally symbolized good luck? Being given by Ruana of all people? What even.]

[Maybe. Probably. Riku has never seen Teddie's bear suit, but he certainly agrees on the 'related to something bad' part.

Riku crosses his arms, snorting.]

I wouldn't be surprised if that guy would suddenly go for my neck.

[He's really just expecting the Vampiric drain attack.]

[but didn't he in that one dream? eh, that was kind of hazy at this point. Yu frowns a bit, but then takes another look at the bat...]

I don't know. It doesn't look like its fangs are that sharp.

[Right, he did (his mun keeps forgetting about that orz), but he probably doesn't know that's Teddie. Or well. That it's the same Teddie as that insane blond during the King's Game.

He turns his eyes towards the bat, raising an eyebrow even while the bat keeps grinning at him and Yu, maybe probably utterly unaware what they are talking about.]

That doesn't need to mean anything.

[No Life/Spirit Drain back home, but enough things/situations to teach him that appearance really doesn't mean anything.]

[Oh, bat-thing. Never change.] True enough. Though hopefully, this time they're harmless.

[No, Riku isn't the only one with a pet. Because sitting outside his room is Sora. And with him is a rolly polly cat-dog-thing. Shadow and Green Requiem are staring at it as it rolls. Sora's not sure what to think of it. So when he sees Riku with a colorful animal...]

[Looks like. Riku blinks at Sora's cat-dog-creature, it's as - if not even more - bizarre as Riku's bat, then turns to shrug lightly.]

Yep. Must be Ruana's idea of a joke.

[Strange joke so far, admittedly. Though he is still waiting for the other shoe to drop.]

[And as if on cue, it hopes up and licks Sora in the face!]

[Komory Bat seems to have gotten the same cue - taking another try at sitting down on Riku's shoulder and rubbing his head/cheek(?) against Riku's... only to be shrugged off again. Next time, he'll manage! :<]

Hallway

[The last week has filled Colette with anxiety. While she was not one of the victims of the Halloween prank, she had tried her best to help as many people as possible and when it got harder and harder to find sweets, well...

Now she is wandering the hallways, checking that everyone is okay.

When she sees Riku down the hallway, she sighs in relief. He's all right, at least?]

Hey, I remember you - we met in that weird forest, right? I'm so glad you're okay! [OOC: I don't know if Riku and Colette are going to introduce each other in the previous thread although feel free to assume they have if you want. XD]

[Suddenly, she spots the Komory Bat] Wait, behind you! [She hasn't drawn out her chakrams yet but she's only just seen it and therefore has no way of knowing that it's harmless or not]

[Well, he's all right again at least. And able to think straight again, which he appreciates very much.

Though, admittedly, after spending eleven months in this place he is somewhat able to bounce back quickly now. Or at least... quicker than before. Sometimes he wonders if he should worry about that. (But then again... he has to, he needs to. If he crumbles, who is left to protect the people he cares about?)

He lifts his hand in a small wave, then jerks around at her warning... only to relax again (somewhat) when he ends up facing just the bat, turning back to her again.]

It's okay. It's not vicious.

[...So far at least. Komory Bat rises a bit and then dives down over Riku's shoulder, squealing in greeting as it halts before Colette.]

It's not....? [Then, as the bat squeals, Colette lowers her arms....he's right. It does not seem hostile.] Oh....

Is that a pet of yours?

[The bat keeps fluttering before her, grinning brightly.

Riku just... makes a bit of a face. Because well... that's the question, isn't it?]

I guess so.

You guess? [As the bat flutters, Colette slowly raises a hand. Can she touch it? Whatever this creature is, it really looks harmless. If anything, it looks rather cute]

[The bat makes another noise as it nudges against her raised hand. That... really should answer her question in that regard, shouldn't it?

Riku makes a bit of a uncertain face; he isn't entirely sure what to think of his newly acquired companion.]

It sat on my chest when I woke up today.

[So it is harmless. If anything, it seems to want to be stroked. Colette's eyes light up as she pets the adorable Dream Eater] Oh wow....[She giggles] Whatever it is, I think it's really cute!

Does it have a name yet?

[Or at very least it's pretending to be harmless. Komory Bat makes a content noise, eyes closing - as much as it might have been affectionate, Riku has been a bit too busy linefacing to consider petting it.]

I've had it for all but an hour.

[Along with a head shake, that's is Riku's roundabout way of saying "No, it doesn't."]

[Okay no. For all that he is still suspicious of this bat-pet, it doesn't deserve that. And he refuses to own a pet named Fluffy. He'll have to put his foot down on this one.]

His name is Highwind.

[The newly named Highwind nuzzles against her hand to comfort her, sadfacing back at his owner, and a moment later Riku starts feeling bad about the way he snapped about her.

Anyway, you've decided to name him Highwind? [She smiles, petting Highwind on the head] That actually sounds like a good name for a bat. It's because he can fly, right?

He's so cute! Look at his yellow eyes and big ears!

Terra was just minding his own business when he got blinded by COLOR. it doesn't seem to be attacking anyone, but that doesn't give him any better clue as to WHAT THE HELL.

[That's a very good question, Terra. One that Riku unfortunately has no idea how to answer, and it shows very much so, in his face, in his shrug.

Highwind, the Komory Bat, is totally unaware of any questions and answers left unvoiced and happily swoops down towards Terra to greet him, because wheeeee Hi There New Person!!! 8DDD]

[Highwind is far, far farfarafar from ever ignoring an invitation like that especially since his owner is a meanie and keeps refusing him cuddles :( and so he presses enthusiastically against Terra's hand. Yayyy pettings! (cozy)

Riku is still wearing his 'I-don't-even'-face though, and well. Just shrugs after a moment.
