[This was one realm to wake up in. She had been in the house, she could have sworn, but maybe she had slept, sleepwalked out. Despite how she had never done so in memory, it could happen. It would explain some things, but not others. A memory wipe again? Not out of the question if she had gone somewhere new. And the collar suggested it. A suppressant, or something controlling her.

No matter. She should be more concerned than she is, but for now she knows all she has to do it find the border and cross, so there is time enough to explore.

An elevator. That, at the least, was familiar, and the stairs were nothing she didn't know how to use.

There is time to explore, and Juliet intends to make the most of it.]

"Let's see..since it's about lunchtime, we can have Roasted pork, Beans, White rice, Guacamole, Sweet Potatoes, Carrot Purée, Squash Soup, Curry, Onion soup, or Mesclun and fine herb salad." Not that Tohko would be able to taste any of that stuff. She'd have to munch on a book later when no one was looking.

"So much of that sounds delicious! Where is the cafeteria? Sorry to ask, but I'm rather new here."

"Oh, it's just two floors down from here. Just follow me. Although..if you're new here, you'll have to eat a terrible bowl of oatmeal before you can eat anything else." Tohko warned. She had eaten it too, but thanks to her weird taste buds, it didn't really matter that much to her.

"However, I found that you can add things to the oatmeal, like chocolate sauce, so you can at least improve it's flavor a little. And after eating it, you can eat anything you want."

She shrugged. "Sounds odd, but as long as they don't force you to eat it absolutely plain, it should be tolerable." Who thought up a rule to force people to eat their oatmeal? A chef with a complex? The thought made her smile.

"I know, it's a weird rule, but it's how it goes here." Tohko sighed and walked down the stairs, hoping that the woman would follow her. "By the way, what is your name?"

"Juliet. And yours?"

Tohko grinned at that. "I'm Tohko Amano, the book girl. Nice to meet you, Juliet. Where is your Romeo?" It was just a bit of light teasing on Tohko's part, but it also reminded her of the other Romeo that was learning how to write properly.

"He has yet to find his place in my life. His loss, if I do say so, he could get pulled along on adventures if he would only show himself." She laughed brightly.

Tohko chuckled. "Well, hopefully he'll show himself soon so that the two of you can have quite a few adventures." Huh. Apparently, Juliet didn't know that she was kidding. Ah well. Her response didn't hurt anything. As long as she didn't ask about her love life.

She did, but she found it more entertaining to respond in kind. "Not before I get to explore this place! I'm not leaving until I know more about it."

Tohko sighed. "Once you know more about this place, you'll wish you could leave. Let's see..first, if you die here, you will just wake up in your bed the next day. However, I've heard that if you die too many times, you'll be punished, so you still have to be careful.

Next, as far as I know, there are three people who run the Tower: Dax, who is a good, humane person, Jason, who loves to experiment and torture people, and Ruana, who is even worse than Jason.

And finally, monsters roam the halls at night. If you don't know how to fight, you should probably start learning from someone." Tohko nodded as she walked down the stairs. That seemed to be everything.

"To address all of that...death being cheap isn't that new, I'm looking forward to meeting the powers that be, and I can fight very well. As for escaping..." She chuckled, confident in her ability to find the border when she wished.

Huh. If death being a slap on the wrist wasn't new, than this girl must have lived in a pretty high-tech place. Or a place where you could regenerate easily. Or maybe she was immortal too. She grinned.

"Well, if you meet them, please ask them how we can leave here. And slap Ruana for me." Tohko wasn't normally violent, but the woman's game last month had turned her fingers into knives and had twisted her mind. She had killed at least three people before she noticed.

"And good luck escaping." Tohko chuckled, picking up on the confidence.

"After I convince her to spill her secrets," she laughed, grinning at Touko. "Slapping isn't the best first impression, even if someone deserves it. She could slap back."

Tohko chuckled with Juliet. "Yeah..if you slapped her first, she wouldn't tell you anything and you might get hurt. Normally, I wouldn't tell you to slap her, but in last month's game, she turned my fingers into knives and twisted my head around. It's was near impossible to read, and before I noticed what they had done to me, I had killed three people." Or, at the very least, three people. Last month had been rather hectic, which fogged Tohko's memory a little bit.

"They shouldn't be mad if it wasn't you. Not like it's your fault." She shrugged, easily brushing off the deaths.

"Well, most of them weren't mad..but it's annoying to know that they twisted my head around, and I didn't notice until a few days later. Plus, with fingers like that, it was hard to read. Since I'm a book girl, it was like they were trying to cut off a part of my own body!" They were also depriving Tohko of her food, but there was no way she was going to say that.

"I heard of something like that...Andrew Scissors-for-hands, was it? Never tracked it down but I know he had problems."

"Andrew Scissors-for-hands? I'm sorry, I haven't heard of that guy. I'm guessing he was in a similar condition though, right?" Tohko asked. What sort of world did Juliet come from?

"I know I've got the name completely wrong, so it's not like I'm a great source-but he had scissors on his hands!" She was still cheerful. "Oh, is this the cafeteria?"

"Ah, I see. Why did he have scissors on his hands?" Tohko asked before looking around. Huh. This was the cafeteria. Tohko had been so wrapped up in the conversation that she hadn't noticed walking down the stairs. Oh well.

"That it is. Now remember, eat the oatmeal before you start munching on anything else." Tohko reminded, putting her books down on the table before getting a plate of curry and rice along with a spoon before sitting back down again. While it would taste like sand, she couldn't let anyone find out about her tastes.

She went to go get the oatmeal, thoroughly unimpressed by its looks but not wanting to risk throwing up. Taking it back to where Touko was sitting with her books, she began to eat, trying to think less of the flavour and more of the fact that it was necessary. It wasn't so awful she was going to die, she could live with it.

Tohko watched at Juliet ate the oatmeal. "If you want, I could mix some of my curry in that for you. It could help improve the taste..and you can still eat it safely if you mix things with it. After all, that's what I did." After all, it wasn't like Tohko could taste whether the curry was good or not.

"I couldn't take your curry away from you! I'll live." She didn't want to cause inconvenience, and it would be over soon enough.

"Don't worry about it! It's not that much of an inconvenience. Besides, I couldn't let you eat that stuff without helping out a little bit." While Tohko couldn't actually taste the oatmeal, it looked pretty bland and disgusting.
