Summary: Signless woke up with a leash on. He's going to find out where it goes, and run into shenanigans on the way.

Yesterday had been... busy. Between waking up in a strange place and getting lost, running into a couple of troll kids, and then saving Psiioniic from a creepy dickwad, he was pretty tired. Thankfully, Psiioniic had apparently been given the same room as him, so he could keep an eye on him as he slept.

He'd always suffered from insomnia, particularly when he had visions. So it took for fucking ever to fall asleep, and when he woke up that morning to find a weird orange and violet leash type thing attached to the collar at his throat, Psiioniic was still asleep.

But he didn't want to just sit around with this stupid leash thing on. It was pissing him off. At least Psiioniic didn't seem to have one - that would probably freak him the fuck out, given how messed up he already was.

He ripped a page out of his dream diary and scrawled a quick note on it I'M JUST OUT FOR A BIT. DON'T PANIC. DON'T LET ANYONE FUCK WITH YOU UNTIL I GET BACK, IF YOU CAN POSSIBLY MANAGE A FEAT OF THAT EXTRAORDINARY DIFFICULTY. and then left, following the leash as best he could to try to figure out where it led.

[He senses her regard almost subconsciously and turns to face her, his eyes widening the moment he sees her. His mouth opens, perhaps to say 'Dolorosa?', but he pauses, remembering Terezi and Vriska. This troll looks like she's about the same age.

Still, his expression softens as he walks towards her]

Hey there.

[Oh, whew, no Dolorosa flashes just yet.]

Hello. Have you just recently arrived?

I got here, yesterday. [A beat, almost nervous. This is a lot weirder than meeting Redglare's descendent] You can call me Signless... what's your name?

My name is Kanaya Maryam, I have been told about you, although they were not aware that you were here. Ah, by them I mean Psiioniic and Disciple, friends of yours I think. They also told me about one named Dolorosa who I seem to look like. [might as well put that out in the open now]

Nice to me-- [He stops, his crimson eyes widening] Did you say Disciple was here?

[blink] Yes. I met her earlier, she believed you to be dead and I informed her that death means very little here.

Oh fuck. [He rubbed a hand across his forehead] Fuck, she's here. And she thinks I'm dead?

Is her being here a bad thing? I was under the impression that the two of you were quite close. But yes, she is here and she thinks that you have been culled.

[He looks up, startled.] Fuck, no, it's not bad. It's great. It's just bad that she thinks I'm dead. I've been fucking around while she thinks I'm woofbeast food.

[He shifts uncertainly] You don't know where she is, do you?

I see, well there was no way you would have known that she thinks you are dead. I'm sure it will be a pleasant surprise when the two of you are reunited. Is she your matesprite?

When I saw her it was on the eleventh floor, but there is no saying for certain if she is still there. I think she was in awe of the sunlight there.

A pleasant surprise is one word for it. [Wry, and a little sheepish] Something like that, yeah.

[He nods and has to resist a sudden urge to just sprint in that direction. She can wait, just a little longer.] Thanks, I'll start there, then.

...Did she mention how much you look like my lusus?

Dolorosa, correct? Yes, she said I wore her color, symbol, and that my horns were similar to hers. She likened me to a tiny Dolorosa.

Yeah, you look exactly like a tiny Dolorosa! [Pause] Well... clearly you're her descendent, that's all. It's not a big deal.

I never knew anything about my descendent, a few others did. Can you tell me more about her?

[He looks down, oddly vulnerable all of a sudden] She is the strongest, most courageous person I ever knew. Everything that is good in me, she was the one who nurtured it. She gave up everything she ever had, just for a mutant troll with no lusus who should never have made it out of the fucking breeding caverns. And I can never be worthy of her.

[Kanaya looks down at her shoes] I don't think that I can live up to that. She defied odds and raised you and I could not even keep the matriorb safe.

[He takes a step closer and touches her on the cheek, trying to encourage her to look up.] I don't know what you're talking about. But I'll believe that when I see it.

[she looks up at him] Alternia has been destroyed. I was entrusted with the matriorb by my lusus and it was destroyed as well. That means the mothergrub won't be hatched and we cannot continue.

[Oh. Shit] ...Is that why we're here?

No, our planet was destroyed way before we arrived here. I do not believe that the two things are related.

Huh. [Interesting] ...Because of the game?

Yes, the game caused our planet to be barraged by meteors which destroyed the planet.

Huh. Don't think I ever saw that part, but a lot of my visions about the game were pretty obscure. [He's a little excited] But it's really real, huh? I thought I was fucking shithive half the time.

Pardon, did you say you had visions about the game? Even if it was obscure, what exactly did you witness?

Ah... a lot of disconnected shit. I never really preached about that stuff, because most of it doesn't make sense. About fighting and not being very good at it, and being defeated, and deciding to reset - to scratch, so we can win.
