(no subject)

Characters: Molly! OPEN! and Psiioniic
Setting:  Dorms, hallways, everywhere the string goes
Format: starting action
Summary:  Let's find out who is on the other end of this string!
Warnings: None yes

[Molly was a bit confused by the string on her collar! It didn't seem like anyone else had one except for her! Had she done something bad? Was she going to be punished? A sense of dread filled her for a moment but she easily put that aside.]

[This called for a new adventure. Find out what was on the other side of the string!]

[So Molly is following it, not really paying attention to where it's going, occasionally knocking into a wall and scrambling to find out where it went.]

[Hope she doesn't walk into you!]

I suck at action tags please forgive me!

[As Signless predicted, &936;iioniic did indeed freak out when he woke to see the leash leading off from his collar straight into the wall and beyond. The note from his friend did nothing to calm him, either.]

[The logical thing to assume, as far as he can determine, is that everyone was wrong and he's still a slave after all, and his master is somehow calling him.]

[Briefly he debates just remaining hidden in the room until Signless returns and helps him figure out what to do, but he doesn't know how long his friend will be gone, and now that he's awake his own conditioning won't allow him to just ignore the summons.]

[So off he goes, hunting for the other end of this metaphysical leash.]

A 'big Sollux'? So this was someone who knew his Descendant, then. It was one of the pale aliens like the other two he'd already encountered, but this one was decidedly more... energetic. She reminded him a little of Disciple, actually.

She also in no way fit his mental image of an owner who would be calling for him with a metaphysical leash. He stopped in the hallway and tilted his head, studying her. "I'm not Thollux, I'm the Ψiioniic," he corrected her softly. "He'th my Descendant, apparently. I don't know why we're connected... I thought it meant my master wath calling me."

The barrage of questions left him more than a little bewildered. "Uh... I don't know what a dad ith, or a dog," he admitted. "A Descendant is someone who happenth to share our exact - or nearly exact - genetic mix, it'th really rare. The odds of picking up the exact same combination of geneth from two different grubsauce mixes - not to mention a thousand sweeps apart - are athtronomical."

So a 'dad' was a lusus and a dog was... sort of like the bees he'd kept as an adolescent, but needed to be walked? Why couldn't it just walk on its own? What was the point of keeping an animal so crippled it needed your help to walk?

Well, maybe it was a pity thing.

"Sorry, that'th kind of vuglar slang," he admitted, blushing a dull shade of yellow. "I mean the incestuous slurry of genetic material that goeth to the Mother Grub so she can lay more eggth for new trolls to hatch from."

"Siblings?" Whatever weird magic was at work in allowing him to understand the different languages used here, it seemed like it could almost translate that one into something that had meaning for Ψiioniic, though trolls didn't have a single word for the concept. Which was weird, because it hadn't translated 'dad' into 'lusus' even though the definitions seemed to match. "You mean, other trolls hatched in the same batch as you? No, there'th no rule that says you have to have someone the same age ath you in your quadrants. They can be older or younger."

Ψiioniic had no idea what other trolls had been telling the girl, but he certainly would have agreed with all those statements. He found humans just as confusing in return, that much was certain.

"Romantic relationshipth," he clarified. Did humans not have romance? How did they procreate? "Since there'th four different kinds, we jutht call them quadrants for short."

"Well, yeah, romance ith love," Ψiioniic agreed, confused. "But there's four kinds. Flushed, pale, ashen and caliginous. How could there only be one?"

"Well, not literally," Ψiioniic said. "That'th just how we describe them. What do you call them?"
