[closed] we'll beat a path through the mirrored maze
Characters: Feferi Peixes and Colette Brunel
Setting: Room 1-05
Format: Action to start, but I can switch?
Summary: Over time, Feferi has realized that she really doesn't like talking about That Jerk Jason over the network where he can possibly see it and make things worse for her and her friends. So she's explaining who he is and why he's so bad in person. (It's also so she has a pillow to hug while she does it. She really doesn't like talking about him.)
[It took Feferi a few minutes to arrive back at the room. She'd made sure to grab some extra tissues and a few bottles of water. Hearing The Jason Story wasn't ever an easy thing for anyone. The heiress almost hated to tell it at all to someone as sweet as Colette, but her roommate needed to hear it. Better from someone who could tell it gently than someone who would just dump out all of the gory details on the poor girl.

....Except she did abandon her Journey of Regeneration back home. What if Sylvarant had been destroyed because....?
The girl quickly dismissed this. Now was not the time to gloom over Sylvarant! It would be unfair of her to talk to Feferi her troubles, anyway.
The door to Room 1-05 opened.] Hello, Feferi. Are you there?

[If she needed to talk, Feferi would listen. She could understand that feeling of home world trouble feeling like it was your own fault, and feeling like there might be some unfinished business that needed doing.
But right now, there was a whole lot of explaining to do.]
I brought some water bottles and some juice down. Is apple okay? I thought you might want somefin. It might be a long explanation.

[She passes over a bottle of juice, then cracks one open herself, taking a sip and making sure she's comfortable. This is going to be a long story.]
All right. I'd normally make all kinds of fish puns and stuff, but it's too long and too serious a story to make them through. I've been here in this plaice a few months now, and I've seen and been through some pretty awful things.
They aren't all Jason's fault, but he and Ruana are definitely the two worst of the tower admins, from my experience. Riki likes to mess with your head via impossible geometry, and Dax is not a nice guy, but neither of them is as dangerous as either Jason or Ruana. I don't think either of them is the person running the tower full-time, but Jason will actively hurt you or experiment on you, and Ruana will laugh while he does it.
Where should I start, from there?

Mess with your heads? H-hurt or experiment on people? But....what for? Why would they do that sort of thing?! [Oh god, this reminds her of the human rances back home - where the Desians tortured and killed people to make expheres...]

...and once, I caught the look in Jason's eye, as he was about to draw a scalpel across my skin, and I honestly believe he was doing it for his own amusement.

Yeah. More than once, over that month. He made sure it didn't hurt, and it never left a scar, at least not on my body. But it left a lot of scars on the inside. I still have nightmares sometimes, and there are some things you can't get out of your head, no matter how much you try.
And we all try. The best thing we can all do is make sure we're there for each other afterwards. We might not be able to protect each other from what they do, as much as we want to.
...and we do want to. A lot of people have tried to stop them, and a lot of people have gotten themselves hurt in the process. Hurt, or killed. Death isn't permanent here, but the penalty for it is pretty awful, too. You wake up feeling like you're locked into your own body - you can hear and see things, but you can't speak and you can't move until they decide to let you. I don't want anyone else to have to go through that.
A good heart and a listening ear go further to heal the damage than anything else.
