Wave 1 (OPEN)

Characters: Tahno and anyone! (Open~)
Setting: Dormitory Hallway, Floor 10
Format: Prose to start, but I'll match you!
Summary: This stupid collar is really stressing poor Tahno out. Luckily, all of the bendable water in the aquarium is pretty relaxing.
Warnings: None to start, but he might be a bit of a jerk to you (or hit on you), depending on who you are and what you do. Possible swearing, too.

(Dorm Hallway)

This stupid collar on his neck was driving him crazy. He’d barely been awake for twenty minutes, and he already hated this place. What kind of place put collars on their residents? He had every intention of going to the bathroom to get a better look at it, but he only got halfway there before he felt the liquid flowing through the collar.

Well, he could walk all the way to the bathroom just to stare at it, or he could just stop here and bend the thing off.

At least, that was the plan. The liquid inside was bendable alright, but it didn’t help him. He’d spent the last few minutes trying to yank the liquid hard enough to burst through the collar, but it just wouldn’t.

Now, he was leaning back against the wall, both hands hovering inches in front of his neck as he tried desperately to damage the collar from within. His face was red, and his hands were practically white from the strain.

Man, he must’ve looked like an idiot to any passersby.

(Floor 10)

After all of that effort on a stupid collar got him absolutely nowhere, he was feeling a bit frustrated. Maybe even a bit inadequate, seeing as his bending couldn’t break such a simple little thing. He had set off exploring just to take his mind off it. He had taken the elevator down to the first floor, and then gone up. Most of the floors didn’t really appeal to him.

That was, until he found the tenth floor.

All that water was beautiful.

…The fish were nice too, but he really didn’t care about those.

It had only taken him ten seconds to discover that, despite being held in place by some weird mystical force, the water could still be bent. He’d just have to put it back in the weird no-glass tanks when he was done.

A few minutes later, and he was dancing with the water like he did at home. He could hear the roar of the crowd, feel the lights that covered the stadium, taste the enemy attacks flying by him, and oh it felt good.

The only problem was that he was showing a blatant disregard for the poor fish in the water. And maybe even himself, should anything dangerous find its way into his flying river or water balls.

Walking up and down the Tower kept Azula sharp, it kept her skills up, especially when the random monster attack necessitated a response.

Normally, she would go right by this floor on her way, but she paused when she saw-

Was that bending?

Well, now. That was odd. Here she was beginning to think she was the only actual bender in the Tower. Hmm. And a water bender, as well.

This should be interesting.

Putting on a haughty look, she stepped off the staircase and wandered over, dressed in her usual Fire Nation uniform.

"Those fish have a habit of eating people, you know." She said, sounding almost taunting. "Don't be surprised if one bites your head off."

Well, that was rather shocking. So shocking, in fact, that he nearly launched all the water at the woman who had crept up on him. Luckily, he was able to keep it together and simply leave the water shivering in the air.

"I hardly think a waterbender has much to fear from a stupid fish."

He spent a few seconds scanning the princess with his eyes. She looked familiar, though he couldn't quite put his finger on why that was. Maybe it was just the outfit. It looked a little old fashioned, but he knew that it resembled clothing from the Fire Nation. He pushed all the water back into the tanks, deciding it was tiresome to hold it up.

"Fire Nation, I presume?" He asked her, approaching with a coy smile.

Water had always been Xue's domain. She loved it, lived by it and couldn't see herself living anywhere far from any source of water. It's as if the water itself had always called to her.

It wasn't rare for the residents of the tower to find her in this floor or in the giant pool floors that were in different parts of the tower. The troll female just loved being around water that much. That being said, Xue was currently swimming in the aquarium, not really fishing.

She was simply enjoying the joys of water today as opposed to hunting for a meal or training. As opposed to her usual no-attire policy while swimming, today she was sporting swimming attire that had been gained recently. It wasn't bad, it didn't feel as good as swimming bare but she didn't mind it at all; Plus it looked nice.

On one of her laps, she noticed the newcomer and decided to swim closer to the edge and wave at them. It didn't hurt to be friendly once in a while.

Tohko had just finished cleaning up at the library and had managed to grab a copy of The Snow Goose as a Christmas present for Enoch. While the temperature was dropping, she couldn't put off making and finding presents for people. As wandered down the halls, thinking about how she should make her second gift to him, she noticed a person with a red face. She didn't notice how white his hands were, but she did notice that he didn't look alright.

"Sir, are you okay? What's wrong?"

He'd seen plenty of fish during his little bending session (and he had to admit it was rather amusing to watch them swim through the water he was controlling), but he wasn't expecting to see person swimming in the tanks.

or maybe she wasn't a person, judging by her odd coloring, but she sure wasn't a fish.

...She wasn't bad looking, either.

"Is there a reason you're swimming around in a dirty fish tank?"

Hearing another person beside him was enough to make him stop bending, if only for a little while. He took a few moments to try and breathe so his face would stop looking so ridiculous, but his anger prevented any real progress on that front.

"What the hell is up with these stupid collars? What fucking idiot decided to put these on people?! What's inside them anyway? It feels like it's just a bunch of freakin..." he stopped and tried to bend it again, giving up quickly this time. "WATER!"

Tohko sighed. "Sir, calm down. The Administrators put those collars on everyone. I don't know exactly why and nor do I know what sort of liquid is inside them. They're a pretty big mystery around here. At least..to me, anyway. I'm guessing you're new to the Tower. If you are, I'd be happy to tell you what I know about this place."

Xue left the comfort of the aquarium and came out to the hallway, squeezing out a bit of the excess water out of her hair before smiling at them.

"It be relaxin'. An' I rather enjoy swimmin' of course." she said with a nod, having seen what he had been doing moments ago.

"Seem like ya be da type ta enjoy water as well."

Azula watched impassively as the water came toward her, arms folded lightly. She knew she could easily block it, but left it to just the last- oh, well, that's interesting. He had some control. That was... almost impressive.

At his question, she smiled and started to clap slowly. If there was an more sarcastic sound than that, it simply didn't exist. "Bravo. So you do have a brain."

He didn't particularly like being told to 'calm down', especially by a girl who looked to be a few years younger than him.

Still, all this bending was getting a bit tiring. He stopped and took a deep breath, deciding it might be nice to know a little more about this place.

"I take it you've been here a while, then."

Tohko smiled and nodded, glad to see that the guy was trying to calm down.

"I've been here for two months. I don't know everything about the Tower, but I do know a bit, and a bit would be more helpful than nothing."

He wasn't sure if it was weird that she had such strange coloring on her, but either way she was good looking. He always had a thing for ladies fresh out of the water, especially in a bathing suit like that. He shamelessly looked down at her chest for a few long seconds as she spoke to him.

For a moment, he wondered where she was from, given that strange accent. He didn't care enough to ask.

"Enjoying it is an understatement," he told her.

Having grown up around pirates Xue was more than comfortable with herself to not mind the staring. Sometimes she'd even made a show of it just to be a tease but today she kept such actions to herself, merely smiling at his attention.

She chuckled and nodded, "Well I be likin' you already. See, water an' me? We be close, and I be enjoyin' every aspect of it, including oda people who like it as much, or close to me."

Two months? That wasn't TOO long, he thought. Still, he couldn't imagine spending that long here. A half hour was driving him crazy. He'd lose it completely in two months.

"Yeah, so, what do you know, then?"

He was feeling rather impatient. He didn't think to actually ask her a specific question. He had too many to narrow it down.

Lucifer liked to consider herself a great appreciator of art. Whether that was art in a traditional sense or a more esoteric form, such as shows of power to bend natural elements like this, it mattered little in her mind. It was an interesting show either way, and it was hard to deny the skill and grace and talent in it. Hard, as well, to deny the egotism that lay behind it as well.

But egotism, as far as Lucifer was concerned, was an admirable trait so long as it was well earned. And in the end there's only one thing to say about the whole performance.

"Impressive."

He was a bit surprised that she didn't even flinch. Most people would. He wondered if she was a bender herself.

"Oh, you wound me with your words," he retorted. "Of course I've got a brain. I don't think I would've won the championship three years in a row without one."

Tohko thought about that as she spoke, not wanting to miss a detail. Plus, this was a good opportunity to get everything straight her own head.

"This Tower is called Animus. Your universe may not be destroyed, as there are a few people here who wouldn't be able to exist if their universes were destroyed. So, your universe, as well as mine, is probably fine.

Death here is not permanent. If you die, you will just wake up in your bed the next day. However, if you die too many times, you will probably get punished, so please be careful.

If you haven't been to the cafeteria yet, make sure you eat the oatmeal before you eat anything else. I know it looks disgusting, but if you eat anything else before it, you'll throw up. However, you can add things to improve its taste, and you can eat anything you want afterwards.

Monsters roam the Tower at night. If you don't know how to fight, I suggest you start learning from someone.

As far as I know, four people run the Tower: Dax, who is a pretty humane, nice guy, Riki, who is a pretty secretive fellow, Jason, who loves to torture and experiment on us, and Ruana, who is worse than Jason, in my opinion. They will lie to you, so take everything they say with a grain of salt."

Tohko thought a moment before nodding to herself. "I think that covers everything."

"Yeah, I'm hard to resist, I know," he sighed, a smile tugging at his lips. "You're not bad yourself."

He liked that she was 'close' to the water, though he couldn't quite be sure what that meant. He didn't think she was a bender of any sort, but he'd known non-benders to feel close to water, too, though they could never know how deep a bender's connection ran with their element.

"So what are you, anyway?" he finally asked. "I take it you're not a waterbender."

"Championship? How quaint. I didn't know they were letting water benders in the Earth Rumble." She was looking at one of her nails, carefully examining it for a hangnail or something.

Honestly speaking, she was rather glad she wasn't the only bender here now, and he at least knew what the Fire Nation was. Now all she had to do was... test the waters, so to speak. See if he could be an ally or not.

He wasn't expecting an audience, but if he had to have one, he was happy it was someone who could appreciate his talent.

He didn't stop, even when he heard the girl's compliment.

"This is hardly my best work," he said with a chuckle. "But it's good to know there's someone around here who appreciates a good show."

"Well ya be pleasin' to da eyes, nothin' wrong with dat mon." she added with a wink. "Jus' don't be lettin' it get to yer head eh?"

She chuckled, at least the person seemed easy to get along with so far so that was a good sign in this place.

"I be a troll, an' I don't know what waterbendin' is but I did know plenty'a shaman who could do wonders with water."

She always admired those who could bend the elements to their will. It had always been incredibly impressive and awe inspiring. She however, was happy just being accepted by water and being connected to it after her second chance at life back in her world.

"Earth rumble?" he scoffed. "That's a bit old-fashioned."

He couldn't help but laugh and shake his head at that.

"Where in the Fire Nation are you from? Or are you just not a fan of the radio? Or anything modern, for that matter? What sad place do you live in that you've never heard of the pro-bending champions; the Wolfbats?"

She wasn't smiling anymore. How dare this man speak to her like that? Her stance didn't change, nor did she drop her hands, but suddenly she looked quite dangerous.

"Obviously, the Wolfbats were never that important. And who are you, that you would speak to Azula, Princess of the Fire Nation in that manner?"

Well this was an interesting sight to say the least. Togami couldn't pass by this man now. Regardless of how that man was shaping the water, he could tell it required some skill to use.

He approached the man, wearing a usual smirk. "Where did you learn that technique? It's quite the magic trick."

Yes, in his mind he reasoned that these feats could be only pulled off by magicians. It was all smoke and mirrors to him. Though after having a few run ins with supernatural beings, his reality grounds were starting to shake.

"Ah, that's it," he said, finally realizing who this girl reminded him of. "Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. You've got a really uncanny resemblance."

He looked her up and down, taking note of all the fine details of what he assumed was simply a costume of some sort.

"It's awfully kind of you to replicate her finer years. I'm sure she's hardly as beautiful at age... what is she now? In her eighties, is it?"
