Wave 1 (OPEN)
Setting: Dormitory Hallway, Floor 10
Format: Prose to start, but I'll match you!
Summary: This stupid collar is really stressing poor Tahno out. Luckily, all of the bendable water in the aquarium is pretty relaxing.
Warnings: None to start, but he might be a bit of a jerk to you (or hit on you), depending on who you are and what you do. Possible swearing, too.
This stupid collar on his neck was driving him crazy. He’d barely been awake for twenty minutes, and he already hated this place. What kind of place put collars on their residents? He had every intention of going to the bathroom to get a better look at it, but he only got halfway there before he felt the liquid flowing through the collar.
Well, he could walk all the way to the bathroom just to stare at it, or he could just stop here and bend the thing off.
At least, that was the plan. The liquid inside was bendable alright, but it didn’t help him. He’d spent the last few minutes trying to yank the liquid hard enough to burst through the collar, but it just wouldn’t.
Now, he was leaning back against the wall, both hands hovering inches in front of his neck as he tried desperately to damage the collar from within. His face was red, and his hands were practically white from the strain.
Man, he must’ve looked like an idiot to any passersby.
(Floor 10)
After all of that effort on a stupid collar got him absolutely nowhere, he was feeling a bit frustrated. Maybe even a bit inadequate, seeing as his bending couldn’t break such a simple little thing. He had set off exploring just to take his mind off it. He had taken the elevator down to the first floor, and then gone up. Most of the floors didn’t really appeal to him.
That was, until he found the tenth floor.
All that water was beautiful.
…The fish were nice too, but he really didn’t care about those.
It had only taken him ten seconds to discover that, despite being held in place by some weird mystical force, the water could still be bent. He’d just have to put it back in the weird no-glass tanks when he was done.
A few minutes later, and he was dancing with the water like he did at home. He could hear the roar of the crowd, feel the lights that covered the stadium, taste the enemy attacks flying by him, and oh it felt good.
The only problem was that he was showing a blatant disregard for the poor fish in the water. And maybe even himself, should anything dangerous find its way into his flying river or water balls.

He liked that she was 'close' to the water, though he couldn't quite be sure what that meant. He didn't think she was a bender of any sort, but he'd known non-benders to feel close to water, too, though they could never know how deep a bender's connection ran with their element.
"So what are you, anyway?" he finally asked. "I take it you're not a waterbender."

She chuckled, at least the person seemed easy to get along with so far so that was a good sign in this place.
"I be a troll, an' I don't know what waterbendin' is but I did know plenty'a shaman who could do wonders with water."
She always admired those who could bend the elements to their will. It had always been incredibly impressive and awe inspiring. She however, was happy just being accepted by water and being connected to it after her second chance at life back in her world.

"And you're another troll, hm?"
He'd met one earlier, but they looked much different.
"At least you're more convincing than the last kid I saw claiming to be something like that. And these Shamans of yours could waterbend, you said? You're a non-bender, then, aren't you?"

"Ah ya, I tink I be knowin' the kind ya mean. I'm from a different world though, Azeroth. I've befriended some of da trolls ya be talkin' about though. Most'a dem be nice enough, or crazy."
And then there were the ones who were pretty vile, but she hadn't seen those in a long while.
"What ya did was called dat in your world?" she asked curiously. "I'm not sure if it be da same, but powerful shaman could make the water rise into a tidal wave ta sweep entire armies, or call upon da torrential rains of a typhoon."
She pointed at herself and smirked. "Me? Naw, I dun got da patience ta learn shamanism. My connection with water is on a more deeper level and less controlling. Da ocean gave me a second chance at life, ever since den I've been drawn and feel as if I'm a part of it." she shrugged.
"I won't stand here and act like I know how da spirits do tings, I just know dat water is as much as part of me as me beatin' heart." she added, pointing at her chest.

He was much more inclined to believe her than the previous troll he had met. The last troll was a much louder, angrier little shit and Tahno didn't believe a word that came out of his mouth. This woman, however, seemed fairly sane.
"Sounds like you've got some classical benders where you're from," he told her, rather intrigued by the thought. "Haven't heard of anyone making a whole tidal wave in a long time."
He was rather pleased with her reverence of 'shamans' and benders. Most of the non-benders he had met were quite rude, always accusing him of 'oppressing' them. It wasn't his fault they couldn't bend the elements.
"I've heard the Ocean and the Moon spirits are both pretty generous things," he mused. He wouldn't be surprised if the Ocean Spirit had saved someone. It had happened more than once before.

Something that admittedly she was grateful for. She liked living, and even if she died, the fact she could come back was a safeguard. Not enough of one for her to be reckless but at least it gave her some comfort.
"Ya mon, dey be sometin' intense. Dey be pretty revered by da people of my world, most a dem be elders or leaders of a group. Some of dem are warlords, generals, advisors and some jus' be world wanderers, teachin' the ways of da elements to dose willin' ta listen. Dey be ratha incredible."
She smiled fondly, "Dat dey be, even when da Ocean be unforgiving, she's as nurturing as she is devastating. She cradles da life of many worlds it seems." she nodded over at him and smirked.
"So, ya got a name slick?"

It seemed like nobody did. He wasn't sure if that really bothered him just yet. He had a feeling it would later, when he got bored or restless. For now, though, everything seemed... at least sort of okay.
He couldn't help but be somewhat impressed by her deep understanding and connection with water. For a non-bender, she sure was in tune with it. Most of the people he had met just didn't quite get it.
He smiled at her question. Slick? He hadn't heard that one in a while. Most women hardly called him anything but his name, and even that was rare. 'Baby' was the more popular term. Or 'pretty boy', more recently.
'Slick' was a much more flattering term, he decided.
"The name's Tahno," he told her, giving a deep and over-dramatic bow. "And you are?"

Althought when they did it was usually something interesting at least. Xue didn't quite mind it truthfully. While she didn't like being in the dark about things, her survival took first priority. Knowing why they were here didn't come into her plans for the time being.
"Tahno," she replied as she crossed her arms under her chest and eyed him with an amused smile. "I be likin' it. It be havin' a nice ring ta it mon."
She winked at him, "Name's Xue'kol, Xue for short. Nice meetin' ya."

It hardly seemed like any fun to be discussing such things anyway. What good was it if it wasn't going to get them anywhere?
"Xue," he repeated, feeling the name on his tongue. "Sounds a lot like the Moon Spirit's name. Fitting."
He was quite fond of the Moon Spirit.
"Pleasure meeting you."

The latter comment however certainly lightened the mood. And even though she raised an eyebrow at it, even Xue had to blush a little at the comparison.
"Why thank ya slick, ya ain't bad yerself. Actually, I be tinkin' you'll be more dan fine here if what I saw earlier was any indication." she said with a playful wink.

He hadn't meant to let himself get all sappy like that (especially to someone he'd never met), comparing her to Yue, but he still smiled to himself at her blush.
"Well, ain't that a shocker. Five minutes with me and you're still on the 'compliments' phase. Most people by now have ripped my clothes off. Or tried to punch me. One of the two." he shrugged. "But yeah, I think a three-year pro-bending champion like myself can handle a few stiff whitecoats."

"I can't say da thought of undress didn't cross my mind though." she teased with a chuckle.
However, the last comment made her nod, "Dat be good mon, but I be tellin' ya da whitecoats might be in charge, but it's da Tower itself ya gotta be worryin' 'bout. I'd say, get a good look around ta know what ya be up against, map out exits an' escape routes. Tis' da best advice I can be givin' ya."
Xue shrugged, "As much as I hate ta be admittin' it, sumtimes a swift retreat is da only option when ya come up ta some of da creatures an' beings in dis place."

"If you ever feel the need to act on that, feel free. I won't stop you," he promised. "In fact, I might even help you out."
He frowned a bit at her last words of advice. He wasn't a stranger to running away, but he liked to deny that most of the time. He liked to think himself brave, as if he'd stay and fight if things got hairy. But he wouldn't.
"Retreating is a lot less fun than winning. But, if that's my only option, I guess I could deal with it," he sighed.

"Aye, and dealin' with it be bettah than dyin'. Even if it isn't permanent in dis place, after a while ya start feeling da effects pretty bad." She hadn't personally died just yet, but she's had too many close calls for her to be happy. She knew her time would come sooner or later but she has seen what multiple deaths could do to someone.

He was almost surprised at how much he liked this woman. She wasn't flinging herself at him (which he didn't usually mind, but this was refreshing), nor was she absolutely disgusted by him.
...She reminded him a bit of a certain Uh-vatar he'd met a little while back. Maybe just less abrasive.
"Haven't died yet, either. Plan on staying that way. Death probably feels bad enough just once. Multiple times, well, I'd rather not have to know."

"I'll be keepin' dat in mind den an' hope ya don't be disappointin'" Xue replied with a bit of a teasing wink. Maybe a promise of what could come?
"Good den, don't wana be losin' da good ones to stupid moves. Ya don't seem da kind ta be makin' dem so dat should be good eh?" she smiled.

...That could have been a lie. He wasn't sure. If he had disappointed a woman, he sure wasn't sober enough at the time to remember it now.
He nodded at her second comment, keeping quiet so he wouldn't accidentally say something dumb. He was the type to make stupid moves, and he knew it. His pride would be the death of him here. Multiple times.

She moved over to a carefully hidden pile and bent down to retrieve her belongings. Grabbing a towel out of her backpack, she began to dry off what hadn't yet and pulled out a set of comfortable clothes.
It seemed that whatever the temperature drop in the tower was doing to some wasn't affecting the tall, troll female.
"So, what be yer plans den? For right now I mean." she asked curiously as she began to dress up.

He watched her retrieve her clothes, a little surprised that she had hidden stuff like that. It wasn't until she began to dry off that he wondered if she was cold. He was a bit chilly himself, and he hadn't even been half-naked in the water.
He paused at her question. Plans? What plans? He had come here on a whim and had absolutely no idea what he was going to do.
"Ah... Nothing. Free from now until forever. And you?"

"Well, if ya be wantin' ta do anyting, let me know. If yer gonna go yer own way, I'll be headin' up to da dorms."

"I should probably actually look around the place before I say I've got no plans."
This had brightened his mood enough. He didn't need to stand here and waterbend just for his own sanity at this point. This place wasn't all bad. There was at least one friendly person in existence.
"See you around, Xue. Don't hesitate to come find me if you just can't stay away."
And with that he sauntered back out to the stairs.
