[He's condescendingly indulgent in his tone, like a parent explaining why that kid in the grocery store can't have any candy.]

[She sticks her tongue out, hands on her hips.]

[ Sure enough...Bern teleports herself into the room, a few feet behind Lambda. ]

I prefer hexes.

[The retrieval units are looking at Bernkastel now.]

There's no end to all of you, is there?

Ah, Bern~♥ I knew you'd come! Now you're in for it!

[ Completely ignoring Jason, kthx. He is not a part of this conversation. ]

Shall I bring out the cats, or perhaps something different for a change?

This is the problem with children with too many powers--they never receive proper discipline.

[But, right, Bern was talking~♥ Much more important than stupid old Jason.]

[ Still ignoring Jason, tut tut. ]

Likewise, but I don't believe they're entirely fitting for this situation.

Should I upgrade to panthers?

[Jason rolls his eyes.]

Let's cut to the chase, then.

[He presses a button on his watch and disables Bernkastel's powers.]

[stalemates]

Hey, you, quiet! Can't you see you're interrupting? This is a conversation between lovers, don't just butt in!

[And she sticks her tongue out at him again.]

[ For the first time in a long, long while, Bernkastel looks genuinely shocked. She could just feel the magic drain from her. She stares down at her hands in horror. ]

What...he...

[animusnpcs]

No discipline leads to no manners, obviously. This is really the only way to teach you anything.

[For now, neither he nor the retrieval units move.]

[stalemates]

Wait-- what'd he do, did you take Bern's magic too?!

[She asks it, but, really she already knew as soon as she saw him press that button. As she gets more irritated, it's difficult to keep up her act of childishness.]

She did nothing. Is that how you want things to be - take any means of defence from someone who has made no attempt on you? Punishment without cause is no way to teach discipline. It only creates fear, and anger.

[ She grits her teeth, trying desperately to keep her cool.]

Lambda, I wouldn't try talking sense into him. Are you forgetting this is the worthless sac of carbon who switched our bodies and then threw a temper tantrum when some figured out how to reverse it?

[animusnpcs]

[There's a ripple in space--just a moment when something more sinister appears to peer out of Jason's eye sockets, a moment where Jason's skin looks more like a crude, too-large costume.

Then it's gone.]

You both have a lot of power between the two of you. I think I'm well within my rights to act before we have to add panthers to this mess.

[stalemates]

[Lambda puts a hand on Bernkastel's shoulder, stepping forward.]

Those were words and nothing more. Regardless, I no longer have my powers thanks to you, and it seems to me a few panthers would be no trouble for you to simply have disappear.

[wittlich]

[ Bern chooses to stay silent, slowly slipping back into her usual mask of stoicism. ]

I simply did so before the fact. You're both unharmed. [Jason shrugs.]

[stalemates]

Give it back.

[It's much more forceful than Lambda ever is, her voice is firm, somewhat lower than usual, and she tries to draw herself up to her full height.]

She needs that. I need it.

If you won't return my magic, return Bern's.

[For Lambda, it's some small reassurance that she isn't mad. She can use her powers, therefore she isn't trapped in hell - right?]

[ Again, she's silent. She knows all too well she's not that good of a talker when she's angry, so she's keeping her mouth shut for the time being. ]

[animusnpcs]

No. Neither of you call the shots here.

[The retrieval units step forward now, approaching them.]

[stalemates]

[She stands her ground, taking another step forward to stay in front of Bernkastel.]

Don't touch her when she's done nothing. As the Witch of Certainty, I declare it with certainty, you'll regret it.

[Whether her declaration will hold true without her powers right now...even she doesn't know. But she has to say it anyway.]
