[He growls. In that moment, all the killing intent he was holding spills out. It is enough to paralyze a normal human. However, it lasts for only a second--contact with the drone seems to have neutralized it.]

You know, Saber told me that I had lost my honor. And seeing what these guys with me did, perhaps I have. But you...

YOU HAVE EVEN LESS HONOR THAN ME!

[He would be angry at anyone who sided with Jason. But seeing Catarina doing it makes his blood boil. In that second, he realizes that he had been completely betrayed. She hasn't gone so far as to stab him in the back, but the intent was there. This demon had no honor.]

[At this moment he feels like a fool. Both for joining this raid, and for trusting and even liking Catarina to begin with. He's not even sure who to be more angry at. Himself or her.]

I know. [Her voice was quiet to try to hide the pain the words caused] I knew when I sold Lauren to the Pious.

So, Jason is it? Would you like some help with cleaning this mess up?

[animusnpcs]

[Jason considers.]

These bodies need to be placed in the elevator. Aside from that, there's the matter of the mess they've made of the infirmary--I could have the worker units clean it, but as you can see-- [He gestures to all the bodies.] They're indisposed at the moment.

[She nodded, turning to start on picking up the bodies to place in the elevator. Her face turned to Lancer finally, surprisingly open and honest. "Join me," it said with fear. "Don't die."]

[Her face doesn't look like that of a traitor. He could expect fearful apology, or even irritating pride at having chosen the "right" side. But her gaze was telling him to live. It was like they were still friends and allies.]

[For a second, he wants to open his mouth and reassure her, but he holds back that impulse. She doesn't deserve it. Not now, at least.]

[Instead, he just gives her one last angry glare before turning his head and looking away from her.]

[Catarina closed her eyes briefly at that, then continued on her task. She made sure not to look at Lancer the entire time, working on cleaning up the mess that was made the best she could. When she finished, she turned to Jason again, her body language wary]

... going back to watch us as if from a tower upon a hill, Jason?

It's more like a bunker under the hill, really. [He watches the retrieval units work.] Obviously my presence here just leads to attacks on my person.

[She looked at him with a puzzled expression, not getting the reference]

I do have to wonder. I did see you manage to not get injured the entire time. I wonder... how that could be possible...

[animusnpcs]

They didn't have any plan for dealing with me. [Jason shrugs.] Charging at an enemy only works if you understand it.

And you purposely keep those here from understanding you. [She reached a hand out, intent on tracing his lips with her index finger]

[animusnpcs]

[He stiffens before taking a step back--cautious, of course, but a little more humanly awkward as well. The retrieval units nearest to him freeze as well, watching Catarina.]

Unlike all of you, I can't be revived if I die--of course, I'm sure they'd appreciate that.

[She smiled at him, her voice dropping to a purr] So you're different than we are, hm? [Catarina took a step forward, her hand dropping] I must be me... I must wonder how it tastes.

[animusnpcs]

[Jason takes another step back. A retrieval unit is at his side in an instant, although it has not moved to take any action other than changing its location.]

I'd advise against persisting in this.

[His tone has the vaguest hints of confusion--maybe he's wondering why this seems to constantly happen to him.]

How sad. [She took a step back, her gaze switching to the retrieval unit by his side.]

[animusnpcs]

[The retrieval unit stares at her--blankly, but still fixed on her location. Jason composes himself again.]

At least you haven't inserted an organ into the suggestion box for me.

[Her brows furrowed and she opened her mouth to talk... then shook her head] Well. That's one way to do it. Direct.

Messy. [Jason shrugs again.] Though I suppose this is where "it's the thought that counts" comes in.

I suppose as well. It does sound like a good thought, giving you a heart to signify emotion. Though I would rather not rip off genitals just to say I would like to have you deeply inside me. [She chuckled]
