Floor 27 (locked to Hojo)

There was no warning when Rei Ayanami's body changed. The girl didn't even have time to gasp before her mind and her body finally gave out before the overwhelming energy of her core.

Her body collapses into a white, constantly shifting mass. The only thing it has in common with her form seconds ago is its mouth filled with jagged teeth and the thousands of eyes that litter whatever shape it takes. Sometimes it has wings, other times arms and legs spouting at strange angles, and other times spines and tentacles. Once, the center of the mass even turns into Rei's normal eyes and face. No matter how it shifts, the glow of its core shines from within its body. It is too bright. It seems to be something that might explode any second.

Heeee~ey. Brothers? Where are you?

The gaping maw sings in a language unfamiliar to the ears, but all too comprehensible to the mind

Come back. Come stay with me. Let us all be one.

It reaches out, trying to find its brethren. At the same time, it is listening for anyone to possibly respond to its message.

Throughout the Tower

The thing that once was Rei creeps through the tower, sometimes walking on strange limbs, other times shuffling forward because it can't hold a form. Those in the area may feel the heat radiating from its body. Every few "steps," it stops, as if it has thought of something or entered a familiar place.

Those are the only moments that "Rei" can actually think. But what remains of the girl's mind has too many questions and too few answers. What is she now. Where is she. What is she doing. And even that moment is all too brief before the Angel's songs fill her mind again, leaving her with only on urge.

She has to take her brothers back. Back to the womb of their Mother. All of humanity must be one existence again. Even if she must destroy their bodies, she will take them back.

When she encounters a human, her body will shift and lash out. If they are unfortunate enough to get too close, she will devour them with her jaws or envelop them with the ever-changing mass of her body. But her core glows. It is like what remains of Rei is giving those who would resist a chance to stop her.

[OOC: Jade!Eridan will be the one to finally kill Rei]

Somewhere in the observetory floor, Togami is wondering about. He hasn't covered all the floors yet in this tower... and part of him didn't want to. Some of them were just unsettling to be around, contrasting towards the others that appeared perfectly normal. Hell, it made his own school look almost normal as even some of the mystery rooms had nothing on this place.

As he stands now, up against the large transparent glass wall looking outside. Nothing was in sight, as he already theorized, but there was a strange feeling he got just now.

Unfortunately for him, wherever he is; his back is facing the transformed Rei.

chaos had heard something calling out a few moments ago. It wasn't like the Song of Nephilim or Lemegeton..but it was something that could only be heard with the mind, something normal ears wouldn't register. And that made chaos worry. As he climbed the Tower, he sensed something that wasn't human..but not a Gnosis either. It was like something similar to a Realian that had gone haywire in one of the worst ways imaginable.

He felt some heat in a floor nearby, and he ran into that room, determined to help, to save lives, to calm down whatever was going haywire.

He stares.

For once, even Hojo is taken aback by the sudden, stark transformation. But he's not alarmed. No, he's fascinated, alarming as the creature is. He wonders what he can learn about it. It's not unlike one of the monsters he created with Jenova cells. He remembers being something like that, before he died. Something monstrous, warped, and no longer human.

The voice is unsettling, but that means little to Hojo. Brothers. Perhaps this entity desires reunion. That's familiar, too.

He shields his eyes and keeps his distance but smiles. "If you're looking for your kindred, perhaps I can help you."

Maybe he can feel the heat from behind him. Or maybe he can hear the strange song. Or maybe he can even see the reflection of the shifting mass in the glass. But Rei has marked him as a human. One of those who needed to be saved. One of those who needed to return to Mother.

I am the deliverance. I am she who forgives all. I bring you paradise.

Still singing the song that fills her mind, her tentacles begin reaching for him

"Ah...?"

The creature speaks with a deep voice. He is human, which means he is her brother. She has to take him into her. However, the remnants of the girl's mind are trying to process his words

Help? Would he aid her? Did he wish to delay his own salvation to ensure the salvation of others? That's right. She didn't know where anyone else was.

"Uh-uh."

With what little thought she still has, "Rei" makes a noise of affirmation.

"There are many people here, in this tower. I'm sure some of them may be your brothers. You must leave this floor, for the others." The directions were simple, and simple enough to give.

Hojo simply wanted to find out what would happen. "I can show you."

He will find a nightmarish scene laid before him. A white beast with thousands of eyes, constantly shifting its form, sings with its bloody maw. The second he enters, the thousands of eyes shift and then focus on him.

When the day of doom comes and the world is dissolved in ash, my mercy alone shall overcome. Mother's embrace shall surround you. No sin, no pollution, no grief. Come back the paradise that Mother creates.

"Uh..."

The creature makes another affirming noise. Rather than work individually, she would rather had much of her work done at once. After all, it wouldn't be fair to welcome one or two people before all of the others.

chaos had seen worse things, but the sight still made him pause for a moment. The room felt hot, but it didn't bother him, just like the cold didn't bother him. He sighed and gave the creature a sad smile.

"I am sorry..but Earth in my universe did not dissolve in ash. Perhaps I am wrong, but I do not think the Earth in your universe will either. While peace and happiness are a good goal for the universe, I do not think taking people before their time is a good idea. It leads to sorrow, to rejection. And I am sorry..but I must stop you from hurting others. Please, forgive what I am about to do, and calm yourself."

And with that, chaos will jump into the air, summon a ball of ice as big as a mountain boulder, and toss it at this thing before dropping back to the ground. Whether it actually hits the creature or not is another story.

Rei can only catch one or two words of what he said. Even then, her mind cannot string them together into coherent concepts. Thus, his words go unanswered.

But hr eyes do catch the ball of ice. A hundred or so arms rise out of the mass to catch the ice before it can impact with the main body.

Having not heard a reply, chaos repeated everything he had said using his mind. He didn't unleash Lemegeton-that would have been fatal for everyone here-but he did use his telepathy to repeat everything to this person.

He sighed when he saw that the ball of ice he had created had done nothing. There was one other thing he could try, but before he fell on that plan, he used his power, and moved his right hand in a circle before thrusting it in the middle of it. If all worked well, this person would suffer two or three large, firey explosions. If all worked well.

When he spots her coming from the image reflected off of the towering glass wall, he whips around to... that... uh.

He really can't do more than just stand there, horrified at the sight of this monster. A mythical creature he's never seen outside of posters of horror films. But this was far too real. Frozen in shock, he can't do more than stay silent as her tentacles wrap themselves around him.

The ball of ice is thrown aside as she listens to him.

Before their time? But all time on this world is suffering. All time after having left Mother is suffering. As long as everyone realizes. As long as no one rejects. There will be no sorrow.

Three large explosions go off in the middle of the mass, dangerously close to the core. It creates smoking holes, but other parts of the mass just rush in and fill the holes. After a few seconds, it was like she had never suffered any damage.

Or are you rejecting salvation?

Ah, there was the reply. chaos listened to it, and then replied using his mind.

'Not all time spent living is suffering. There may have been some painful moments for you, but you probably met quite a few people that you liked and ate a few meals that you enjoyed. When people die naturally, or if there was some reason that their death was unavoidable, then it time for them to join together. The joining might be painful and awkward, but it is the natural way of things. Taking people that don't have to die yet though does not help people join together.'

chaos noticed the explosions, and how easily this person could shake them off. While this wasn't a Gnosis, what she was talking about seemed similar to what a Gnosis who wanted to join the Collective Unconscious but couldn't might say. Maybe.

'That depends upon what you mean by 'salvation'. And..I am going to touch you. It is only to help you and others, I promise you. Will you promise not to do anything to me while I approach you?'

While chaos could probably freeze her with his powers, he wanted to see if she wanted to calm down and dissipate peacefully.

If her heat was perceptible even when standing at a distance, then her tentacles would feel so hot as hurt him, though they won't burn him outright. They pull him toward her open mouth, and as he gets closer, the light from her core might sting his eyes while the heat could actually burn his face.

At the mention of "people", what floods into his mind is not words, but images. A woman with short brown hair and a dark-haired man with sunken cheeks walk through the park, holding the hands of a blue haired girl. All three are smiling brightly. The same girl, older, pulls a dark haired boy who looks more than a little like her and a beautiful redhead girl into a big hug. There are a series of pictures of adults and teens and children, all of whom must hold some importance to the creature.

There are those who would call out to embraces a false and tragic world. I offer them not death, but truth and eternal life.

Her center changes and a head and even a torso forms around the mouth, showing a purely white form of Rei's normal body. She holds this form, wanting to how this boy would try to reject her.

When he uses up all his options, he would gladly return to her and Mother.

He tries to get away, perhaps in vain by squirming. He can only let out a scream of pure terror once he sees what she plans on doing to him. But is there really anything he can do besides struggle?

chaos took in those images, and, using his telepathy, managed to figure out where this person was in them. These were the people precious to her. He nodded to himself and replied.

'There are those who are in pain, suffering, fear, anger, and doubt. However, the world is not false. And eternal life is quite painful. Are you sure you want to hand them immortality so easily?'

chaos watched at the monster changed it's shape, and nodded again as he slowly approached the girl.

'Thank you. I am going to touch you. It should not hurt, but it you do anything to harm me or others, I shall have to retaliate. Please, don't make me do that. I don't wish to hurt you.'

chaos walked to the side of the mouth, being careful not to get eaten, and put his hands on her. Using his power, he attempted to calm her down, to make her fears, her doubts, her wounds and anger melt away..and to have her dissipate. If it worked, Rei would slowly glow yellow and vanish out of sight. If it didn't, chaos would have to teleport out of that mouth's reach, and fast.

Hush, hush. Don't cry.

The words were the same as a doting mother would use on her crying child. But Rei was no mother, and the words, coming from such a being, probably offered no comfort.

Her teeth sink into his shoulder. Perhaps if she took him slowly, he would have time to realize and rejoice at the gift that he had been given.

Immortality in paradise knows no doubt. It knows no fear. It knows no anger. It knows no suffering.

Perhaps the most horrifying thing that chaos will discover is that as she says, Rei feels no fear, doubt, or anger. All she knows is serenity and the truth of her mission. There is almost nothing to purity, and thus, she will not disappear.

Now it is her turn to reach out and try to embrace him with her hands that would feel overly hot to any regular human.

I welcome the defeated, the victorious, the young, the old, the strong, the weak, those drowning in an ocean of pain and those who are utterly at peace. Surrender to me and let me relieve your burden of this body.

Ah. So, this was a being who was at peace and was trying to get others to be the same way by merging with her. However, that would probably only hurt them in the end. A false Collective Unconscious.

'Immortality in paradise, purgatory, earth, and hell is still a painful immortality. A temporary collective will only bring pain in the end.'

Since chaos was not a normal human, the warmth did not bother him, just as the cold did not. However, chaos sighed and smiled, putting his hands on hers.

'I would rather you did not take away my body. While I can survive without it, it makes it easier for me to interact with and help people. I love humanity. I would like to be with them in a way that they can sense. I am happy you welcome everyone, but taking away their bodies might not help them.'

If the girl tries anything, chaos will first freeze her hands in an attempt to get away. It won't last, as the ice will only hurt her for a moment, but it should be enough time to let him put some distance between them. Of course, that's all assuming she does try something.

She listens and stays still for a moment. Then, the rest of her body shifts, turning into a wave that seeks to envelop them both. Technically, he would still have his body. He would just be part of her body at the same time.

However, having her hands frozen does slow her wave down.

Well, this was unexpected. Unexpected, but chaos could deal with this. Using his power, chaos teleported outside of the wave. He was still in the room, but outside of the wave.

'I am sorry..but I did warn you that if you tried anything that I would have to defend myself. I do not enjoy this.'

And using his power again, chaos gained a pair of temporary wings and flew up before bringing his hands down, along with a rain of thick energy beams. He then flew back down the ground, and his wings vanished.

The wave completely swallows the humanoid form. All the eyes close as the energy impacts it, leaving even more holes that the intact parts rush to heal. The eyes open again and tentacles start reaching for chaso.

While that seemed to have inflicted some damage, it probably wouldn't help in the long run. chaos sighed as he saw the tentacles rush towards him.

'I am sorry about this, but I cannot let you hurt me or anyone else. This is for your own good, as well as for the rest of the residents.'

Gathering his power, chaos pushed and worked as hard as he could, and eventually got a thick wall of ice in between the girl and the rest of the room. chaos's hands glowed all through this, but they stopped when he was finished. He wasn't sure how long this ice wall would last, but it was all he could do. His attacks weren't working, and he was rather tired. He needed a nap. So, he turned his back on the ice wall and started to head for the staircase.
