Once you party with us

Characters: Dave Strider, the loser Homestucks with birthdays in December, Naminé, and everyone else who's in the Media Room at that time.
Setting: Media Room
Format: Either
Summary: Party in the media room. Look at all these stupid kids who have birthdays in December.
Warnings: Teenagers are dumb. Stupid shenanigans.

It wasn't really a proper party set-up. There were no decorations or anything that would signify it were a party. Dave didn't really have supplies or time to make anything and he wasn't really around to even plan anything in the first place.

Jason didn't really make it any easier by giving them only foodbars and water for this month either.

But he did try. He made those shitty paper ringlets to hang and he taped really crappy drawings of balloons to the walls. An attempt was made and he thinks his balloons are pretty fucking awesome anyways. It was a little sad. The list was a lot shorter than he anticipated. He ignored that nagging thought though. He didn't want to recall that a lot of his friends had left while he was gone.

Yeah, pretending that isn't a thing that happened.

Too busy admiring his really shitty attempt at birthday decorations.

Damn, he even made a cake. Ok. It wasn't really a cake. He mashed nutrition bars into a bowl with water and attempted to bake it. That...that didn't actually really come out like he hoped. Mostly, he put it in too long so the outside was completely burn yet the middle was still a really gross mush. No one was probably going to eat it. But it's the thought that counts...

It's a really gross fucking cake.

Obviously though, he should be in charge of birthdays all the time. "Fuck, I'm amazing at this." No, Dave. This is pretty shitty and you know it. You tried though. You tried.

[[As she passes by one particular 'balloon', a pink pen is handed to her.]]

This one is a little plain, don't you think?

[[She doesn't know who you are, miss, but if you're here you must be a friend.]]
lethechained: (...!!)

[Naminé stops, visibly surprised, though she reflexively takes the pen. She blinks down at it, then up at the person who handed it to her. Once the comment registers, her eyes flicker back toward the 'balloon', then to the other girl.]

... You're sure he wouldn't mind?

[That probably doubles as a 'yes, it does'.]
tentacletrainer: (;))

Well if he does, I'll take care of it. Being his sister, I think I'm able to take the blame for friends. [[She gives her a little wink, stepping out of her way so she can reach the paper.]]

Besides. He is very fond of art. I'm sure it would only make him happy that someone decided to add to his.
lethechained: (Heh.)

[personal profile] lethechained 2012-12-09 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
[That seems to be cause for renewed surprise. His sister?]

I didn't know he had a sister...!

[Her eyes follow the other girl, reflexively searching for similarities. No matter what Naminé finds or doesn't, she ends up offering a smile all the same.]

Well, if you think so. [She'd know better than Naminé after all.] When you put it that way, I guess I can't refuse. [That cleared up, she pauses to regard the drawing a moment, then step forward to add that pink, neatly. Someone's had practice.]
tentacletrainer: (Why don't we ask fate?)

[personal profile] tentacletrainer 2012-12-09 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well it's a pleasure to be the first to let you know. I'm Rose, by the way. [[She watches her, smiling with confidence that Dave will only love the additions. She is so confident right now.]]
lethechained: (Could be worse.)

[personal profile] lethechained 2012-12-09 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Naminé's quite efficient about it, so it doesn't take her long to finish, and when she does, she takes only a moment to study her handiwork before turning back to Rose. S-so much confidence.]

It seems like he has so many relatives I'm only finding out about now. I didn't even know he had a brother until the other day. [The smile she offers is apologetic, as if it was some mistake of her own for not knowing, though that smile grows less tainted at the introduction.] It's nice to meet you, Rose. My name is Naminé.
tentacletrainer: (I am good aren't I?)

[personal profile] tentacletrainer 2012-12-09 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
[[Rose merely shakes her head. No need for that apologetic smile.]]

It's a pleasure. And our family is actually pretty small. It's just me, him and our parents. Slash brother. It's complicated.

[[Don't mind her if she admires your work!]]
lethechained: (uh....)

[personal profile] lethechained 2012-12-09 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
[--... huh. Well, that does sound complicated, but Naminé seems to take it in stride.]

That's a relief. [This seems to be a bit of a joke.] It's always a little strange realizing I didn't know about something that important. [Perhaps mostly because she's used to knowing people inside and out, but that's neither here nor there.]

[She doesn't seem to mind, though she does watch Rose's reaction before looking back at the drawing herself, reflexively checking it over again even though it was fairly simple and difficult to mess up.]
tentacletrainer: (You truly amuse me.)

[personal profile] tentacletrainer 2012-12-20 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
A perfect addition. And I understand that feeling to an extent. [[She may not know people in and out, but she Knows things. Or she should at least. She's coming to find that she knows a lot less here than she'd like.]]
lethechained: (It hurts to smile)

[personal profile] lethechained 2012-12-20 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her smile grows slightly in something like gratitude.]

I suppose many of us do, one way or another. But... at the same time, it's kind of nice, not knowing some things. It means there's still something new to learn.

[And even those people she knows so well can still surprise her. For that she actually finds herself grateful; they've mostly been pleasant surprises, so far.]
