Summary: Vanellope has discovered that she has to eat oatmeal and she is not amused.
Warnings: May be vaguely spoilerish if you haven't seen Wreck-It Ralph yet. Also, Vanellope gives inappropriate nicknames.

<sub>[This day was already turning out to be way weirder than Vanellope wanted to deal with. The last thing she remembered-- those creepy bugs coming out of the ground, and a crash, and Ralph yelling, and then--

...waking up here, and finding that weird note. Luckily the words were all simple enough for her to understand. Unluckily... the words were all simple enough for her to understand. No way could Sugar Rush have been destroyed! Glitches couldn't leave their game, right? And... and...

But those bugs, A small, nagging voice in the back of her mind whispered. Remember those bugs?

She didn't want to deal with it.

Another thing she didn't want to deal with? The jumpsuits. Uh, hello? Totally not her style! Her hoodie was much better racer material, thank you. She'd changed clothes and grabbed a handful of candy from her trunk ASAP.

Exploring the tower was something she definitely needed to do. She found herself at the bottom floor cafeteria more quickly than she would have thought - idly bringing a piece of licorice up to her lips to chew on, she passes through the doors.

A moment later, just after swallowing, she gags. Both hands fly up to her mouth and she makes a dash for the nearest trash can, jumping up to empty her stomach into it.]</sub>

What--?!

_{[When the vomiting subsides, she hops back down onto the floor and eyes the licorice suspiciously.]}

...bad licorice.

_{[With that, she pops a mint into her mouth. A moment later, she has to jump back up to the edge of the trash can. This is not okay. She's sure she could have some fun with it if it didn't make her stomach hurt so bad... but it does hurt. And it's not just one or two candies. She's trying it out with everything she's got, and the result's the same every time. Finally, she collapses on the ground next to the trash can, her face a little green.]}

This really stinks!

[She smiles sadly. She's trying to keep up a cheerful attitude, but seeing someone so young brought to the tower is still upsetting.]

[Tohko was feeling a little under the weather today. It had nothing to do with the cold, even though that was getting worse. She just felt..tired, and her nose was clogged up. She was sneezing quite a bit, so she went to the cafeteria, hoping to find some napkins that would help. However, as she wandered in, she saw a little girl that was sitting next to a trash can, looking quite ill.]

Hey, are you alright? What's wrong? Stomach flu?

Oatmeal...?

[She doesn't even have the energy to make some snarky comment. She just shakes her head.]

No, I'm not alright! I think someone poisoned my candy or something! It keeps making me sick!

[And for someone from a game called Sugar Rush, not being able to handle candy is really weird.]

What's going on in this place?!

[Tohko nodded. Ah, so this was a newcomer who hadn't learned of the oatmeal rule first.]

If you're new here, you have to go to the cafeteria and eat the oatmeal before you eat anything else. Otherwise, you'll just throw up. It's a weird rule, but that's how it works in the Tower. And if you're new here, I could tell you what I know about the place while you eat. That way, you'll be prepared.

[For a moment, her eyes are wide. Then she makes a face, wrinkling her nose and crossing her arms over her chest.]

Who came up with that rule?! That's just gross. No one eats oatmeal where I come from.

Yes, they've somehow arranged it so anyone who doesn't eat oatmeal at least ones gets sick. I'm really not sure why. But it might help your stomach anyway.

What kind of stupid rule is that?

[Grumble, grumble. Oatmeal is way too healthy for a kid from Sugar Rush, thank you. She's so upset that - just for a moment - she glitches, her next two words a little garbled.]

And how would they make that happen? Has someone been messing with this place's code?

[...if so, that would make sense, she thinks. Someone's already done it once - she can remember King Candy talking about it shortly before the crash. So maybe she's still in Sugar Rush after all, just... some even weirder unfinished bonus level than Diet Cola Mountain. But where are all the carts? And the candy? And why do all the other characters here look different from everyone she knows?

This is giving her a headache. She makes a face, furrowing her brows and wrinkling her nose.]

[Tohko had to stop herself from chuckling at that reaction.]

I know, I know. It's a weird rule, but that's how it goes in this Tower. However, after you eat it, you can eat anything you want, and you can add things to the oatmeal to improve it's taste.

I can add things? What kind of things?

[This is the look of someone who's getting Very Bad Ideas. ...but at least she's not looking like she's going to throw up anymore.]

So what's up with this place anyway? Did you wake up in those weird clothes too? How come we have to eat oatmeal first? Are there any other stupid rules like, I dunno, what we have to eat first or whether or not we're allowed to wipe when we go to the bathroom for the first time?

[She squints just a little at that glitching.]

We think it might be possible because of the collars.

[She pauses.]

I'm sorry, this may seem like a strange question, but are you a human?

Human? 'Course I am! Do I look like I'm a talking sourball or an oreo or a devil dog or something?

_{[She jumps up a little and spreads her arms wide. Head, check. Arms, check. Legs, check. Yeah, she's looking pretty human today.]}

Of course, you're right. It was a silly question.

[She smiles warmly, BUT she'll keep an eye out for more glitches, because that wasn't very human-like... And now she's curious.]

So then, Miss Are-You-Human-Or-Not, what's the deal with these collars?

[She tugs on hers, wrinkling her nose again when it doesn't seem to come loose at all.]

And how come yours is a different color?

Well, I don't know too much about them yet. But I was told that there is a group of people who brought us here, and they're the ones who put these on us. Apparently, the color corresponds to the day you're supposed to have your collar checked by the staff.

[It's actually a pretty terrible situation! But, she's trying to make light of it. Hopefully nothing too bad will happen to the poor kid.]

[Tohko chuckled and held up her hands.]

Calm down, calm down. I woke up in this place wearing my high school clothes, which are what I currently have on, minus the cloak and cape. And no one knows exactly why we have to eat the oatmeal first-it's just a rule that the Administrators enforce. And you are allowed to wipe if you go to the bathroom, regardless of whether it's your first or twentyth time. As for this Tower, I'll tell you what I know if you start eating the oatmeal, alright?

[Tohko chuckled again and patted the kids head.]

That wouldn't work. However, I can eat it with you. That'll have the same effects, and I can tell you everything I know about the Tower while we eat. So, how about you grab a seat? I'll get the oatmeal.

[[Rose had been lucky enough to learn to eat the oatmeal before anything else, but seeing why wasn't a bad lesson. Not that she realized this was the problem. Too new to know everyone here, she doesn't want to assume, especially when it's certainly getting cold enough to catch a bug. Feeling bad for the little girl, she extends a friendly hand to her to help her up.]]

[She droops a little, and a few moments pass before she gets herself together, shakes her head, and forces a grin.]

Y-yeah, he'll show up! And when I do I'll give him the biggest scolding for worrying me, hah! Maybe I'll even make him take a bath to get rid of his dump-stench!

[No way around it - she's going to have to eat the stuff. So she scampers off to go find a seat, glitching into a sitting position as she nears it. Oops, she really should get the glitch under control, but at least it was a little helpful.]

Every time I try to eat candy I get sick. This is weird.

[She takes Rose's hand and gets to her feet - that's a little easier to do. She's not feeling so dizzy now that she's out of candy to try and eat.]
