Setting: Outside the dormitory bathrooms

Summary: Ren is confused at everything, but finds amusement in the most unexpected of places.
Warnings: None

[Ren is no stranger to waking up in weird places. However, she isn't used to being in new outfits and without any of her cats around. It unnerves her. She plays with the collar around her neck for a few seconds before exploring her room. Sure enough she finds the trunk and much to her joy her cat is inside. Once she changes back into her torn up hospital gown, she grabs her cat and begins her little adventure.

While she looks around the halls, she appears to searching for a face in particular. The people around her do shock her at first, but she chalks them up to being spirits. That offers a little bit of normalcy in a place she doesn't remember going into.]

Where are we?

[Of course the cat doesn't respond, but sure enough they're in the bathrooms. She recognizes the layout as one she's seen before, but in much worse condition and with nothing working. Cautiously, she takes a step inside with the cat still clutched in her arms. The first thing she does? Flip the lightswitch. On. Off. On. Off. On. Off. The simple fact it works brings a huge smile to her face and she laughs. If the place has light, then it's safe!]

What's this?

[She turns the knobs on the sink, flushes the toilet repeatedly and even tries to stick her cat in there. After all, he is a little dirty. She's just trying to help. At least she has enough sense to not flush it.

When that gets boring, Ren wanders over to the showers and turns both the knobs on and off as well.]

Wow!

[By the time she finishes playing in there, she's damp from the water and not used to these types of things being separated, prepares to go into the boy's bathroom.]

Let's see what's in here.

[Before answering, Ren looks over to her cat. He doesn't run away or look perturbed by this kid in the slightest, so Ren looks back at him. She doesn't move any closer or any further away for now.]

It's okay. I'm only a little cold.

[At his name, she tilts her head.]

Ventus. Ven. That's a short name.

[Which is fine by her.]

My name is...Ren.

Hm? [While Ren was looking at her cat, Ven glanced at it a bit too. He didn't know why she was looking at it, but he did smile and give the cat a little wave.]

Yeah. I like it better short; 'Ventus' always sounded too fancy for me. [He rubbed the back of his head a bit.] Nice to meet you, Ren.

If you're cold, I'm sure it wouldn't be any trouble to find some towels or something. This place has all sorts of stuff you could need.

I like short names too.

[That won instant points with her though he may be unable to tell. Being nice to her cats, and having her cats like him in return, allows her to realize he's a nice person. Though she briefly wonders what it means to have a fancy name.]

Towels. Okay. I'll go find one.

[There's a short pause and more staring. She hasn't touched him to be sure, doesn't plan on touching him, but he looks alive. Was this place filled with more survivors? Maybe Seto was out looking for them.]

Are you alive?

I'll help you find one then.

[Ven was about to turn and gesture for her to follow in an attempt to locate a towel, but he was stopped by her odd question, confusion spreading on his face.]

Uh...Yes? I'm pretty sure I am. [He laughed a bit here, probably indicating it was a joke. Even if he had been asleep for ten years, he was pretty sure this wasn't some afterlife dream.]

[A small, amazed smile appears on her face. He's a survivor just like them!]

We can look together. Maybe we'll find Seto too.

[The cat finally decides to stand and walk over to sit next to Ren's leg. She kneels down to pick him up. Whether or not he wanted to be picked up doesn't matter, as he promptly gives up after struggling for a total of two seconds.]

Is this place by the red tower?

[Yeahhhh guess who didn't read the letters.]

[He smiled in response to hers, because hey, it was better than her being scared or sad!]

Alright! [And he's off to lead the way for real this time.] Is Seto one of your friends then?

[He had to think about this for a minute, not realizing that geez does she not know her world's been destroyed.] Red tower? Well, this place is a tower. I'm not sure if it's red though. And I haven't seen any other towers around it or anything.

Seto is my only friend.

[Hearing this place is a tower itself makes her believe she just walked back into it. She never thought anything like could be inside it though. She explored the outside part enough times, but she never got this deep into it.]

The red tower is red on the inside too. This place isn't red. No one colored this part yet.

Hopefully he's here then. Maybe he'll show up later, if he's not. [Weak grin of hope, go!]

Oh. [Well gee, it isn't red. He felt kinda silly.] I don't know where the red tower is then. But I don't think they're going to color this place. It's been the same ever since I got here.

We were together. Seto is here.

[There's absolutely no doubt in her mind. He'll find her. She stays a careful distance away from Ven as they walk. Not entirely trusting, but getting along with him just fine.]

You've lived in the tower for a long time?

I'll take your word for it then. [Still grinning a little. He sure hoped the guy was here if that's the case.]

How long? Hm... I'm not really sure. It's been awhile, but I don't remember much from before I showed up here, so it makes it kind of hard to tell.

[She would have responded to that had something not caught her attention. It's a bottle cap and she immediately goes over to inspect it. Ren doesn't tell Ven or anything, just kinda wanders in another direction to go pick it up.]

[Ven stopped when he realized no reply came. He blinked and turned back towards Ren, seeing her inspecting...something. In a totally different direction.]

Uh, did you find something?

This!

[She holds up her treasure. Very worthless to others probably, but she's enjoying it. She holds it up to one of the lights on the ceiling and turns it around with her fingers.]

Hm? [He squinted a bit to get a good look at the bottle cap in Ren's hand.]

Oh, do you collect them?

[She's very eager to show him it.]

Yes! I like to find treasure.

[--Ow. Suddenly his back hurt for some reason. Ven slumped a bit in response, but otherwise did his best to hide the sudden pain from Ren with a grin.]

Nice! I collect stuff too. I've found a bunch of cool crystals and stickers while I was traveling.

[It works. She doesn't notice right off the bat. All their talk about shiny crystals and treasures has her attention for the time being. If she knew, she'd at least be a little worried about him.]

What are stickers?

They're little pictures that you can stick on surfaces! You can arrange them however you want, it's really fun! [He has a whole dang sticker album.]

I can show you some of my stuff if you wa-- Argh...!

[Suddenly there was a severe pain in his head and he had no idea why. But whatever it was, it caused him to recoil a bit and grab his head, still trying to look at Ren with a grin. He's not a very good liar.] I-I can show you some of them if you want...!

Yes. Can you show me? I won't take your treasures-

[That startles her. She didn't expect him to make that kind of noise and even she can tell he's in pain. Worried and frightened, she isn't sure what to do. What confuses her further is that he's still smiling. Pain doesn't make you smile. Not from her experience, at least.]

...Ven? Are you hurting?

[He wanted to keep talking about their treasures, he didn't want her to worry when he didn't even know what was going on but...He just kept clutching his head and gritting his teeth.]

M-My head.... [And a slight shake of said head] I don't know what's going on, it just really hurts...!!

Ven is hurting...

[Treasure talk can wait until after Ven is feeling better. Ren's too busy concentrating on what she should do right now. As if it will somehow help, Ren looks over to her cat companion only to find he wandered off. He's probably taking a nap somewhere.

She looks back to Ven, taking a step towards him, but still keeping her distance.]

Do you need medicine?

I-I don't know if there's any kind of medicine that can really help..

[Augh it felt like his brain was going to explode or something, but he did muster out a small chuckle, trying to be optimistic and get over the pain because really, he had no idea what was causing it or why it happened.]

I'll be fine, I think...eheh....

[The smiling and laughter is what seems to bother her more. Ren knows very little about people, an almost nonexistent knowledge, but when you're hurt you don't laugh. You don't smile. She stares at him, tilting her head to one side and the other.]

When I feel sick it goes away if I lay down sometimes. You can lay down here.

[Ven thought about this for a minute, before conceding that that was probably a smart course of action.]

Yeah.... that's a good idea.. [On the plus side for Ren, no smiles this time, as he held the side of his head with one hand and used the other to steady himself as he sat on the ground again thee wall. It wasn't lying down, but eh, it was as close as he dared.]

[When he sits, Ren follows suit. She sits on her legs across from him. She's a little closer now, simply because she's worried. What other things made her feel better?

That's when she remembers the treasure. She's a bit reluctant to give it up, but she can always find more. Treasure makes her feel better! It could help Ven too. She scoots within arm's reach of him and holds out the bottlecap.]
