Cake for everyone! [open, backdated to the 6th]

Characters: Romeo and everyone!
Setting: Kitchens and then all the floors! Backdated to the 6th
Format: Choose and I'll follow
Summary: Romeo has been counting since the new year and he thinks that today is finally Christmas (Epiphany). So he made cake! And is sharing it. Feel free to jump in the baking part or afterwards.
Warnings: None that I can forsee.

Christmas was six days after the year changed, or was it five? Or seven? Dates were really not Romeo's strong point but he thought it was six so he counted carefully and on the sixth day decided that since it was Christmas in Italy he should do something nice for his friends!

So he went down to the kitchen and got out all the things he needed, luckily there were ingredients to make plain cake. Though Romeo was much better at baking than he had been he still made a lot of mess and so it was a flour covered Romeo with a big grin and a plate piled dangerously high with cakes who finally exited a few hours later.

He started on the bottom floor, looking around for his friends, those he knew, those who looked new, or sad, or lonely. Or were just there because it was Christmas and everyone deserved cake at Christmas.

"Happy Christmas! Do you want a cake?"

[Kariya's eyes widened slightly at the sight of Romeo, dusted with flour and laden with cakes. Then he smiled.]

Hello. Happy Christmas.

[Was it Christmas? Even if it wasn't, he was charmed by the sight.]

I would like a cake, thank you. Did you make them all yourself?

She did? [Kariya took the offered cake readily.] She must be a good teacher. [He takes a small bite. He can't really eat very much, especially not something as rich as cake, but he can't resist on this occasion.] It tastes wonderful. It was nice of you to do this for everyone.

You're very thoughtful. [He doesn't take another bite of the cake for now, not wanting to risk making himself sick.] I'm sure people will appreciate it. It was a hard month.

My name's Kariya. It's nice to meet you.

I think so, too. Especially in a place like this. We can't give up hope, no matter what. I'm glad other people think so, too.

You can just call me Kariya, Romeo.

I'll save this for later, when I'm hungry. [Even if he probably won't really be able to eat it, there's no reason to say so.]

It is important. That's what they want us to do, give up home. It's good to see someone so optimistic. [It does make him feel better, seeing such a happy child.] Have you been here long?

[He's surprised to hear that. His expression softens into one of gentle concern.] I think you're the first person I met who's been here so long. And you still have your hope.

Don't lose it.

I've only been here a few months. It is hard, to deal with so much, but I'll try to be as strong as you've been.

Mister Russia? [That's another person with a country's name. That's odd.] I'm sorry he's gone. People come and go a lot here, don't they? But I'm sure your friends wouldn't want you to be sad. [He smiles when Romeo punches the air.] And you can make new friends.

I'll do my best, I promise.

You're right. That sounds like the best idea. I know they'd want you to remember them and be glad. I've lost a friend here too, so I know how you feel.

What dreams of theirs are you going to fulfill?

[Romeo is willing to go on, and Kariya is willing to listen to him. He does so patiently as Romeo lists these goals.]

Your friends had good goals. I'm sure they'd be proud of you for trying to accomplish them.

Another version of your friend came here? I've had that happen to me, too, meeting different versions of the same person. It's strange, isn't it?
