Summary: Amberley's poking around and trying to gather information, all while playing it as safe as possible.
Warnings: The thread with Tohko has gracious amounts of talk of murder and other grimdarkness that comes with the verse.

Cafeteria: [ Amberley's got a big plate of something unidentifiable in front of her and she is grossed out. Is this the kind of stuff that the Imperial Guard eats on a daily basis? Maybe her expensive lifestyle had caught up to her, but she hardly doubted she could stomach what was in front of her.

Then again, if she didn't eat at all, she would grow weak. In a new place, this was unthinkable. So very slowly, Amberley tries to make her way through the meal. ]

Library: [ What better way is there to gain knowledge than through reading? Amberley's draped on a chair with a huge stack of books, reading at a pretty good pace. Occasionally, she'll nod and hum to herself, but other than that, she's completely lost in her reading. ]

[ Girl, that's nothing. Urotsuki just ate everything they served back when the only meals were really gross food with a straight face!! But she does notice Amberley looking sort of weird while eating it, so she ends up standing and staring for a few moments (as if she doesn't care whether it's impolite or not) before getting over. ]

.. Is something wrong..? [ Her expression and tone are pretty blank. ]

[Man, this isn't even near what army rations are like. Unless you're on a ship with Ratsel, then it's a feast erry day. But when your ship is full of W-Series...]

Having a problem there? Don't tell me you've never eaten at this level before.

[ She gives a forced smile that doesn't look forced at all. ]

I have, but it's been awhile.

[ No worries, Amberley doesn't particularly care if Urotsuki is putting effort into being polite.

She gives a small giggle and smiles at Urotsuki, putting her spoon down to speak. ]

Sorry if I gave a bad impression of myself. I usually eat a little bit better than this.

It's not exactly a taste you can forget, can you?

[Even with her right arm broken and in a sling, Tohko kept up with her library duties. After all, she loved books, and she couldn't just leave them or the patrons alone. As she sorted a few books into their correct spot on the shelf, she spotted a woman at a table reading quite a few books. Curious, Tohko walked over to her.]

Good morning! What are you reading?

[Shion is working in the library as normal clearing away books that just seem to end up back on gigantic piles anyways. But it's his job and he likes being around the books.

He gathers a few off a table before noticing the woman sat there.] Oh sorry were you still using these?

Not really, but I guess it's a bit more shocking after awhile.

... Though I suppose it's still better than a ration bar.

[ Amberley sets her book back down on the desk in front of her, and smiles up at Tohko. ]

Nothing important. Just a science book. [ She smiles and tilts the book up so she can read the spine. ] I was trying to find out more about this world, but I'm not having a lot of luck so far.

Ah, yes, my apologies. [ She gives a friendly smile. ] Do you work here?

[Tohko lightly chuckled at that.]

Well, science is a pretty important subject! However..most, if not all, of the books about this universe have been pulled from the shelves. However, if you want, I can tell you what I know about this Tower.

[ She set the book down and folded her hands in front of her. ]

If you wouldn't mind, I'd be happy to hear anything that you have to share. Oh! I'm Amberley by the way. Amberley Vail.

Ah, it's nice to meet you, Amberley! I'm Tohko Amano, the book girl.

[Tohko then nodded and thought to herself as she gave her usual infodump.]

This Tower is called Animus. As far as I know, four people run it: Dax, who is a pretty humane person, Jason, who likes to torture and experiment on the residents, Riki, a secretive fellow who manages the records, and Ruana, a childlike person who has lived for thousands of years and has some interesting powers. She sees her experiments as nothing more than fun games. They will lie to you, so take everything they say with a grain of salt.

If you haven't been to the cafeteria yet, make sure you eat the oatmeal. I know it tastes terrible, but if you don't eat it first, you'll throw up whatever else you try to eat. However, you can add things to improve the taste, and you can eat whatever you want once you're done!

Monsters roam the halls at night. They don't come in the dorm floors, but if you want to be safe and can't fight, you had better start learning from someone. Death is also not permanent here. If you die, you will just wake up in your bed the next day, but if you die too many times, I'm sure you'll get punished, so be careful.

[Tohko then nodded to herself.]

And that's everything!

[ Good decision, Sayaka happens to think as she watched the girl for a while, from a nearby table. She's learned that new people arrive once in a month, and there's the deal with the oatmeal that nobody can skip, unless they want to puke for the rest of their stay in the Tower. The grossed out expression from the stranger's face didn't escape the idol's eyes. ]

I know that's not the most appetizing meal, but it's a good thing you didn't refuse it.

[He puts them back on the pile with a small smile and nods] I do, I haven't seen you before, have you just arrived?

Better than cardboard too. What do you say about that?

Please don't tell me you've tried to eat cardboard.

With some of the crap I've eaten, I can't truthfully answer that question.

[JOKE, JOKE.]

[ Amberley makes a mental note of all of this, which isn't hard for her considering her augmented intelligence. She does laugh on the inside when Tohko mentioned not being able to fight. Amberley wondered how she would react to the bolt pistol in her chest by her bed. ]

While that is limited, I have worked on less before. I have to thank you, Ms. Tohko. It's much easier to understand what kind of situation I'm in with that information at hand.

[ Honestly, it all sounds pretty boring to her, but at least she can shoot monsters at night as a kind of makeshift target practice. ]

That's me! Amberley Vail, at your service. Though, I suppose right now, you're at my service.

[ She laughs a bit, clearly joking around. ]

And you are?

[ Wow that is the worst pickup line ever Axel ]

I'd suggest that you avoid it. I doubt it's abilities to fill your stomach, and besides, it doesn't have the same nutrition that military grade food has.

Oh, you're welcome! I'm glad I could help you out..and I know that it isn't much. The Administrators keep most of it hidden away and we have to chip and break it off piece by piece. But I'll sure we'll find out everything about this place soon.

I'm certain I can help! After all, that's part of a remembrancer's job.

[ She's lying, but she's not going to swing around the fact that she's an Inquisitor. Either way, both deal in knowledge and how to acquire it, so it isn't too farfetched. She's just leaving out the idea that she knows how to carry out violence. ]

[ Amberley looks up and gives a smile. ]

Why do you say that, if I might ask?

A real soldier can run off of hot blood and guts.

But the last army I fought for was made up of robots so food wasn't a giant priority.
