Dormitory hallways

[Lancer doesn't know why he seems to be getting strange looks as he heads out from his room. His dress and hair is no different from how it looked the previous day; in fact, he had switched over to this getup years ago.]

[As a Servant, he didn't age. Nor could he really track exactly how many days had passed. However, one day, he just outgrew his former rough style. Now, his hair is better combed and his bangs are shorter. His armor had been swapped out for a pair of blue tights that allowed him smoother movement. Even if his face is the same as when he first came to this Tower, there's something in his eyes and his posture that makes him seem older.]

[But that change was from years ago. Everyone should have gotten used to it now. Maybe it was just some experiment making people crazy again.]

Floor 25

[Lancer likes this floor. That's one thing that hasn't changed. It's nice and relaxing and a good place to take a nap if he wants to slack off.]

[That's what he's doing right now, in fact. Sleeping and snoring away even though, as a Servant, he doesn't need it.]

Floor 38

[He's grown to appreciate the bar over the years, especially since he's polished off most of the beer he's gotten from home by now. Currently, he's lounging around in a beanbag chair, holding a cup of alcohol (he forgets what kind) and sipping at it.]

Floor 48

[He doesn't really know why he's here. After all, the graveyard never contains the names of those who need graves--the ones who had actually burned away their entire lives in this Tower. But it was a place that let him reflect on some things.]

[Like what some of the people whose names were carved here would say when they saw what the Tower had become now. Would that rabid dog of a Lancer regret what his Master had become? Would the Saber he had never known reject his or her other self? Would some of his old friends appreciate what he had become now?]

[It's just something he ponders as he perches on top of an angel sculpture, looking as relaxed as ever.]

[Tohko needed some time to herself, to read, think, and rest. So, after taking care of the library, she took a copy of The Little Prince and Brave Story up to the meadow..only to see Lancer snoring in the grass..but this Lancer looked a little different. Guessing that he was also being affected by the Administrators, Tohko sat down nearby and started reading. She would ask him when he woke up.]

[Similarly to Lancer, Hidetoshi had not come to the graveyard with any defined purpose in mind. This was a floor of pointless mausoleums, open graves, and fields of unattended gravestones. Some of the names littered on the headstones he had known—he'd forgotten most of them. They were dust and gone. What did they matter to him anymore?

He was dressed in his usual of long black pants, dark gray shirt, and an overcoat with a classic scarf wrapped over his shoulders, and clenched under one arm, a bouquet of wildflowers he'd stopped by the meadow to rip up and bundle together. When he strode along in the graveyard, the man spotted the graceful figure of the man he knew to be one of his trusted friends perched atop a stone angelic figure, and he called down amusedly;]

Attempting to imitate the crows, Lancer?

[Not that either of them had seen normal crows for years and years.]

[He makes a quick face at the other man who called out to him.]

Very funny. You know I hate crows.

[He jumps down from the top of the statue and lands in front of his friend.]

I just like the height.

[The sound of someone coming over next to him is enough to wake him up. He cracks open an eye. Oh, it was just Tohko. With that realization, he closes his eye again and goes back to his nap.]

[He grins at his own joke, at the face Lancer pulls before jumping down in front of him. Luckily, it's not dusty enough in here to raise clouds of dusts. Of course he did.]

My sense of humor is impeccable, as I'm sure you know.

[He made a wry hand gesture.]

I am sure there are taller memorials on this floor somewhere.

[Tohko didn't miss that eye opening and closing. Thinking he was still awake, Tohko quickly asked her question.]

Lancer, how much time has passed since you gave me this bird charm?

[She tapped to the one that was on her right braid ribbon.]

You sure? Have you gotten a tape measure and measured them yet?

[He's obviously kidding, given the grin on his face.]

[He sighs, and then opens his eyes and sits up.]

I...don't really know.

[Tohko, you're asking a man who doesn't age to tell you the time that passed.]

You tell me. How many years?

[At that, Tohko sighed.]

Years haven't flown by, Lancer. It's now January, exactly one month after that Christmas party and a few weeks after we exchanged presents.

[And he obviously returns the jesting easily as he idly rearranges the flowers tucked in the crook of his arm.]

Why, yes. Of course I did that while you were off busy getting drunk like usual. Boredom is a terrible influence.

[Looking at her face, Tohko indeed looked too young. But he even if he couldn't remember the exact number of years, he could still remember time having passed. Diarmuid and Ayaka and Kariya could all confirm that.]

You sure about that?

[He slowly shakes his head.]

I still can't understand why you won't relax and grab a drink. Especially if you're bored to that extent.

[His eyes dart to the flowers.]

And those are....

I'm positive about that. After all, if time had passed, I would have grown a little bit or I would remember it.

This place...can do stuff to our bodies, though. Maybe the Administration just used you for an experiment or something?

[He's just a little worried now. Experiments never ended in any good. And in a non-Dax month, it was likely to have some sort of painful conclusion.]

[He shrugs a bit. Tis' was a joke.]

Eh, I don't relish the taste of alcohol very much and we can't all relentlessly pillage our liver like a Servant can.

[He notices Lancer looking at the wildflowers he'd gathered and he holds them out. He wasn't planning to put them on any specific graves; he'd wanted to show a little respect even if the headstones were little more than tasteless decorations to him.]

I'm feeling sentimental. Want some?

[Tohko sighed at that.]

Actually..they're probably using you for an experiment. There are several other people here who think some time has passed..but the times are all different. Legolas thought a thousand years had passed, Waver thought twenty had, and Kidou thought ten years had. So..maybe those sorts of people are being included in an experiment.

[Tohko sighed again.]

Nah, it's not like I have a place to put them.

[The graves he recognized in this place, he would rather smash than give flowers to.]

[He shakes his head.]

My memories are pretty clear on what happened. I don't think I'm part of that experiment.

And so are Waver's, Legolas's, and Kidou's. Kidou even got married and showed me his wedding ring as proof.

Yeah, he got married. To Urotsuki. She's a great girl.

[A girl he had managed to flirt with once. Before realizing that she had a boyfriend.]

I'd say in general it's easier to the Tower to take something away from you than to give it to you, right?

[At that, Tohko sighed.]

I wouldn't know..but if that's the case, then the Administrators are doing quite a bit of work with implanting people with different memories and different ideas about how much time has passed.

[He accepted Lancer's response with no surprise, and then as they walked, set about doling out flowers to the gravestones. Almost of the ones he places a flower in front of are one he personally recognizes or cares about, but there's nobody in this level he would have mourned. Well, except Mitsuru-san and a few others, but he had never located her name.

After awhile of walking silently in a place where it would be fitting to hear the cawing of crows and other corpse birds;]

Hey, do you remember when all of the newcomers arrived? I can't recall the last time the administration brought in so many brand new lab rats to experiment on.

[He shakes his head.]

No, not sure when. Maybe the administrators just got bored of having only us. Still, it's a little strange.

[Maybe it was part of the newest experiment.]

...Whichever one it is, be careful, okay?

[He can't count the number of times people went insane, either temporarily or permanently, during these experiments.]
