I have not been abandoned

Characters: Beck and open!
Setting: Room 1-19, and the dorm levels in general
Format: Prose to start but I’ll match either!
Summary: Beck is just waking up, and all of that good freaking out stuff.
Warnings: Uuuuhm, idk? Nothing, I don’t think.

The sleep paralysis was anything but comforting. Beck didn’t like the feeling, especially not after everything that had happened lately. What she didn’t like even more though? Was opening her eyes and realizing that she wasn’t in her room in Mosaic. She wasn’t sure what this place was, but it wasn’t home. She was still dressed in her clothes-sweatpants, shoes, tank top and hoodie, but there was also the fact that she was pretty sure she was wearing a collar now. That was not part of her normal attire.

Things were only bound to get worse when she sat up and noticed the two letters. At first, as she read first one and then the other, she wasn’t sure what to think. Her chest hurt, and she was sure this had to be some kind of really not funny practical joke. There was no way her world-the world-had been destroyed. She’d just finished helping save it, she could still feel the lingering soreness from that last hit she’d taken, the bolt of lightning or whatever it had been exactly-she hadn’t actually thought much after all, just acted.

So no, all things considered, she wasn’t going to believe this. She couldn’t. Not until she found someone, talked to someone. She couldn’t believe it because…she didn’t know what she would do.

“Hello?” She pushed herself off the bed with the slightest of winces, moving across the room, to the door, out into the hall. Everything was unfamiliar-had she just been kidnapped? Had someone managed to break into Mosaic? “Hello?” She called louder this time, pushing down panic and unease as best as possible.

"They said it was to rescue us," Lithuania said, although he was dubious. "As for the collars, it's supposedly to keep us alive in this world."

He touched his own violet-tinged collar lightly. That he could almost believe; he shouldn't be alive, by all rights. His world was destroyed, his people dead. He didn't exist anymore, not really. He was something akin to a ghost, or maybe a zombie. It wasn't a pleasant thoguht.

Lithuania shrugged. "It could be just to be nice--I think that's what they want us to think, anyway. This tower isn't particularly safe, though, so I don't think it's that."

Lithuania nodded. "I'm not sure how many, between fifty and a hundred? People get added and removed, so it's hard to keep track exactly. It's--very odd. Sometimes it seems like they're trying to kill us, or at least torment us."

"Maybe," Lithuania agreed, even if it really was an unpleasant thought. "It would be nice if the people in charge would do another question and answer session."

"One thing at a time, I suppose," Lithuania said. "I'm sure there's some way to fix everything."

He wouldn't be alive if all his people were dead. That knowledge, or hope, kept him at least somewhat upbeat. If everyone was dead, he would be too.
