Summary: Taiki comes back to himself after the event, to find that part of his future has come true

And overnight he was eleven again, the memories of those fifty years faded though he still remembered what it felt like to have been here so long, how sad Zelda had been. What it had been like to be older and yet still trapped.

The first thing he did once he got dressed was leave his room and head downstairs, though he couldn't feel Gyousou's presence he had to see his things, see his name on the door. Remind himself that even though he wasn't here he was coming back.

Because he had to be.

A few moments later after looking at the name plate a worried looking child burst into room 3-20 and stared in silent disbelief at the empty trunk. He stood frozen for a few moments and then burst into tears and ran out of the room.

It couldn't be true, his things had been there, before last week. They had been there.

He reached the graveyard his tears still flowing and slowed down as he began to walk the rows of headstones looking for the name he hoped wouldn't be there.

But it was and Taiki's tears got faster as he fell to his knees in the light snow and curled up next to the stone, shaking with sobs.

[He held Taiki carefully, softly petting his head and rubbing his back in an attempt to sooth him. It hurt the elf to see him crying, to see such a young and pure spirit to suffer such a loss in a place so terrible as this. He would gladly give up anything to see him smile again.]

I know.

[He can't think of much else to say. He'd not had a chance to know Taiki's king as Haldir had but he understood how important he was to the young one.]

[He cried some more feeling bad he was burdening Legolas so but unable to stop himself.]

And now he's all alone...

[Burdening him? No, never. And Legolas would tell him as much if he knew what Taiki was thinking. Everyone needed a shoulder that they could cry on, someone they could talk to when they were upset.]

We will find a way back to him, to all our friends, Taiki. I swear it to you. You'll see him again.

I hope so... [He blinked sadly] When... when I thought I had been here for a long time, I hadn't seen him in fifty years... [Now that seemed an impossibly long time for someone who had only lived for eleven years, and the idea of not seeing Gyousou for a year, to be alone was enough to crush his heart.]

[Brushing a hand through his hair, he lightly kissed the top of Taiki's head and held him a little closer.]

I promise you. No matter what it takes, we'll see our homes whole again and our friends and family safe.

[A pause and a small smile.] It breaks my heart to see you so sad that I would not make this promise to you unless I believed it possible.

[Taiki clung to him feeling back that he was making his clothes wet with tears.] You're really kind...

Of course. You are friend to me and I would not see you sad if there was some assurance I could give you, some happiness I could give to you.

[They could be cleaned or dried easily enough. Legolas was clearly not concerned with a wet tunic. After all, he'd once fought a battle in a rain storm, this was not even close.]

[Legolas was a friend, a good one. Taiki still remembered their friendship from when he had thought he had been here so long. He leaned on him silently for a moment before remembering something else from his memories of the week before.]

Are... are you and Haldir really going to get married?

[Oh, Taiki. Oh. Watch as his cheeks flush and goes all the way up to his ears. With a soft laugh, he musses some of Taiki's hair before going back to brushing his hands through it.]

Perhaps someday. We've traditions among our culture that have to be observed if we do. Some of which will be impossible but if we found a way around it in that strange glimpse of the future, we will again. If we choose to marry.

What kind of traditions? [Maybe Taiki could help find ways for them to fulfill them, he thought Legolas and Haldir should get married. They were both really kind and even though they argued a lot Taiki thought it was a bit like how Enki argued with Lord Shoryu.]

Both of our families must consent and in a meeting of both, we feast and exchange silver betrothal bands. A year later, we and our families would meet to feast again and we would return our silver bands and exchange gold ones.

[That's the easier of the traditions to explain. Anything more would be improper to speak of with Taiki. Or anyone, really.]

[Well he could see why that would be difficult. Since their families weren't there to have a meeting. He thought for a moment.] There must have been a way for you to do it in the future...

I'm sure that there was but I can't recall it. Whatever it was, we will find a way when the time comes. As it is, we haven't even rings to exchange and finding someone to craft two from what silver we find will be difficult.

[He could melt down his crown...]

There's lots of people... maybe one of them knows how to make rings... [Taiki thought that was something he could do, find someone who knew how to make rings.]

I'm sure that someone here is capable. Or I will make a request of Dax, one of these months. First though, I must speak with Haldir of even considering the idea. I won't see to having something crafted if he does not want it.

[It would probably break Legolas' heart if he did but he won't say anything of it.]

[Taiki smiled sightly] Oh yes... you should ask Haldir... [It wouldn't do to plan a wedding without asking one of the people who was supposed to be getting married.]

I'll ask him when I see him next. I imagine this game of the administrators has left us all a bit exhausted, physically and mentally.

[Speaking of which...]

Why don't we find somewhere more comfortable to go? Somewhere less sad.

[Taiki nodded, it had all been very confusing, and it was hard to pick out what had been real and not. He blinked at the question, he wanted to stay here though it was silly, since Gyousou wasn't actually in the grave. It was just a stone with his name on. But it was all he had.

Yet he nodded, because he didn't want to give Legolas any reason to be annoyed or upset with him] Alright...

[Legolas would never get annoyed or upset with Taiki, especially knowing that he's just lost someone very important to him. Even if the elf didn't know Gyousou, he was sure he wouldn't want Taiki to dwell here.]

Where did your Lord like to spend his time? Perhaps that would be a better place to go.

[Somewhere that he'd been, alive and well. It usually left a lasting impression upon a place.]

Um... He liked the meadow... Because it was peaceful... [Taiki blinked sadly.]

Then we'll go to the meadow. Would you like that, Taiki?

[He gave Taiki a tight hug and a small, reassuring, smile.]

[Taiki hugged back and nodded sadly] Alright...

[He lifted Taiki into his arms, holding him close and securely. As he'd try to keep Taiki safe and comfortable in that false future, he'd do so now as well as he took the younger one to the meadow floor. And this way, Taiki could cry again if he needed to without worrying about stumbling or tripping.]

Not all tears are an evil, I believe I once heard it said.

[And this time Taiki didn't insist he could walk, because he wasn't confident enough and didn't really mind being carried, he just rested his head on Legolas' shoulder and cried some more.] You did? Sorry... they wont stop...

[He held Taiki close as he walked, lightly rubbing his back to sooth him. Not once though did he suggest that Taiki try to stop. Some pains could only be soothed, even if it was only temporarily, through shedding tears.]

I did. And you don't have to stop. If it helps you then cry all you need to. I will be here for you the entire time.
