002 - How Long Do Tomatoes Keep For?

Characters: Picky Minch and you!
Setting: Room 3-16 and the cafeteria/kitchens, dated to January 31st.
Format: Prose to start, but I'll match.
Summary: A shocking realization has come to Picky, and he has to do something before it's too late.
Warnings: Hoarding?

That had been a really good suggestion on Rosa's part, to start keeping a calendar. Picky hadn't been here very long, but already he had been starting to lose track of time. Days really blend together when there are no classes to take or Saturday morning cartoons to watch or Wednesday video game nights with Tracy. So he had scrounged some paper and a pencil (even if it was rough drafting stuff from the workshop floor) and had been busy at work figuring out the days of the week and the time of the month.

He was on his bed outlining boxes and darkening lines and using his best handwriting to fill in the days, when he stopped and thought about just what today was. It was the end of the month. Soon it'd be a new month. (February! It was right over there, face up, still needing proper filling in.) Things... changed when the month rolled over, didn't they? They were gonna change soon. Things like... like the cafeteria menu.

"Holy heck! No way!"

And with no explanation and not nearly enough coordination, he tosses his pencil aside and bursts from the bed, fleeing the room as though his pants were on fire. Are there rules about running in the dorm halls? Hope not, because he's totally running for the elevator.

---

Tomatoes. Tomatoes as far as the eye could see. So very, very many tomatoes. Where was he going to put tomatoes? He had already stuffed his jacket full of cans of tomato juice. Also, there was a box of spaghetti wedged in there, too. He was looking kind of lumpy and uncomfortable. Picky hadn't thought this plan through, but he couldn't hesitate because then there might be no more food again. (Those crappy nutrition bars didn't count as food.)

...maybe he could come back around suppertime and grab some carrot muffins to stockpile. Those were pretty decent. And he was okay with slightly stale muffins. Maybe.

"Well yeah, but you've gotta keep them cold too, or we'll just have rotten fruit everywhere and it won't be good at all," Ryuunosuke points out with one hand on his face. "So, we need more like a fridge."
