♔♛♘♜ || four (overdue) intros for the price of one!
Characters: Chung, Eve, Raven, and/or Rena AND YOU (Strings and Animus both welcome)!
Setting: Floor 15 (Workshop), Floor 1 (Cafeteria), various floors
Format: Either or, starting in brackets.
Summary: Amidst all the fuss about the newcomers, a motley congregation of collared newbies shows up in the tower and promptly proceeds to try to fix their weapons. There's always that first delicious awkward meal of oatmeal, too. And various run-ins with certain floors.
Warnings: None as of yet?
[workshop]
[If one wanders past or onto the workshop floor, they'll notice there's quite a bit of activity going on there, mostly along the far wall where Eve has commandeered quite a lot of space for herself and is going through tools and materials at a ridiculous pace, making all manner of... what is she making?
It's a little hard to tell from a distance, but they might look something like weapons of some sort. Maybe. For all anyone knows, it could be a droid army. Two small drones float dutifully around her as they attend to her requests- well. Commands, more like.
On another part of the floor, Chung is hard at work, hunched over and focused very intently on some overlarge contraption. It doesn't look quite that he's building it so much as he's putting it back together... From how much care he's taking with it, seems it's pretty important to him.
In contrast to the other two, who seem to at least be making progress on their respective projects, Raven lets the pieces of his broken sword clatter to the ground noisily before muttering to himself, "This is completely useless. Might as well just reforge it completely..." A quick glance around only serves to remind him of whatever it is that Eve's doing, though. ...He doesn't look very happy about it.
Rena, for her part, is just leaning against the wall watching them all. Maybe it's amusement, maybe it's sympathy, maybe it's schadenfreude, who knows. Maybe she's just keeping a watch out for any undesirables like any good party member might.
Of course, the fact that the power flickers on and off every so often is a bit of an annoyance.]
[cafeteria]
[They're gathered loosely around one of the tables in the dining hall, emphasis loosely.
Well, they're soldiering their way through the tasteless oatmeal well enough, albeit with varying levels of discontent. The young Prince for his part seems pretty put out (he's trying his best, really. . .), though Rena and Eve don't look entirely pleased either, even if the latter claims she doesn't understand the whole taste thing. Raven is the only one who doesn't seem to mind the blandness of their meal, entirely blank-faced and serious as he eats. Even so, every now and then his expression flickers into something a little harder, particularly whenever any of the worker units pass by.]
[various places in tower]
[you can pick either of the top level comments for the group scenarios, OR you can tag any of the top level comments we'll be putting up for individual scenes if you want to catch them alone elsewhere, for easier organization. or you can do both. that works too. either way, please tag into the top level threads rather than starting a new one; we'll be better able to keep track of things that way! if you want to tag the workshop or cafeteria but only want some particular character(s) rather than any and all of them, then just go ahead and specify which one(s) you want!

—> Raven
She hasn't said anything yet, but she's got that look in her eye that says I CAN REBUILD IT I HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY.]

Handing his sword (well, what's left of it) over will mean he's probably never going to see it again, huh. Oh, sure he'll might get something back, but not exactly... and for all he knows, the look in Eve's eyes might just mean that she's found something to use in her next Iron Scraps burst.
In the end he swallows down his pride and wordlessly slides the pieces across the floor to her. They might as well be put to some use, because he sure as hell isn't anything resembling a passable swordsmith and he knows it. If he can't fix it, maybe Eve will be able to do something with it.]

[What, did you think she was actually going to pick that up herself? With her hands?? Fuck that, that's what servants are for.
The twin drones quickly swoop down there to lift up the sword pieces with their little nubby hand things while Eve turns to face the swordsman completely. She runs a finger over the broken end of the blade.] ... It may be possible to reforge the pieces, but it would be more efficient to start from scratch.
no subject
I figured as much. [a pause, then:] ...I'll trust in your skills. Did you have something specific in mind?
[He might have been less accepting if he hadn't already come to the same conclusion himself.]
To no one in particular!
I've done it!! Now to see if it still works!
[No! Don't test it out in the workshop!! Too late! He's already aiming and he fires! Oh... Hmm... it seems like the cannon's aim isn't too true yet. Must finetune it a little more! He goes back to work. HOPE HE DIDN'T ACCIDENTALLY ALMOST HIT ANYONE!]
Re: To no one in particular!
Which is exactly what he just did.
She's just gonna very, very slowly turn her head to glare burning daggers at him. He has about five seconds.
Run, boy, run.]

[Yeah, it's too late to run now. She's standing (floating??) right behind him, and the second he turns around even slightly he's getting a good hard slap across the face.]

Raven... do you need help?
[He'll infuse it with alchemy and explosives
and make you a gunblade thingy!]no subject
Not unless you're suddenly a blacksmith. Normal, minor repairs I could manage... This? [he says, eying the scraps critically] Even if it was pieced back together, it'd be brittle and unbalanced. It's useless.
[The world only knows what would happen to his sword if Eve and Chung worked together on it.
gunblades are cool, but he prefers lightsabers.]no subject
I can help you build something new from it!
[Look at that sparkle in his eye, Raven! He's got this!
He'll make you a gunblade, lightsaber thingy that shots grenades!]no subject
...Slooowly looks back at Eve.]
... If you want to help, go to Eve. I think she has plans as well. You two... can work together.
[And make sure the scraps of his sword aren't used for Eve's Iron Scraps or something.
Is that how Veteran Commander happened.](no subject)

... do we really have to finish this all up...?

Putting down a spoonful of the mushy oatmeal, she simply reaches across the table. Have a pat on the head, and some ruffling.]
Eat up, Chung. We're all in this together. Gotta get stronger to explore this place, mn~?
ignore me, ignore him
But he does look over at them with mild surprise and ???????????
What's wrong with the food? It seems fine enough to him. Grains like this are healthy fuel, and it doesn't taste off... Well, it doesn't taste much of anything, true, but it doesn't taste off, that's the main thing. Not like when Eve was responsible for their meal.
Maybe it's just the texture, he decides. Too thick for soup or stew, not substantial enough to really be a meal. It makes sense.]
I think Raven said something, Rena~
He nods and tries not to think of what he's eating. He does notice the surprise on Raven's face and looks over...]
Is something wrong, Raven?
You heard nothing. You two just carry on. He'll be here. Silent.

ROOM/DORM FLOORS 1-5; FLOOR 100; 13, RAVEN
[The letters are read over only briefly before they're crushed and thrown into a corner of the trunk. There's no point in dwelling on their contents for longer than necessary when there's more important things to do, like finding out more about where he is and whether or not anyone else he knows is here too.
While he changes into his own clothing, his mood takes a decided turn for the worse when he notices one of the other things that arrived in his trunk: his sword, or rather, the broken fragments of it.
You'd think it wouldn't be very comfortable, facepalming with a large metal claw like that, but nonetheless that's what he does.
Well, whatever. Maybe it's salvageable. ...right.
When Raven leaves his room he takes notice of the nameplates at the doors and the elevator, and forget that he's taking the stairs. —After first making a round of the floor and checking the names as he passes by them in the hallway, because they can't just have saved him, and him alone.
He'll be doing that on every other dormitory floor he passes through on the way down, too.]
[Floor 100]
[The floor seems empty, and it's that emptiness that makes Raven step warily off of the winding staircase. This sort of place couldn't be that simple... The tower doesn't disappoint, illusion flaring to life as soon as he steps out onto the floor, where he freezes as he takes in his surroundings.
He knows it well: a quiet plaza in the residential area of Velder, in between all the sprawling cobblestone roads and far from the hustle and bustle of the market areas. The clock tower stands tall behind him, buildings and archways stretching out in front.
Everything is exactly as he remembers it, so it takes him a moment to realize why it seems so eerie: Velder was never so devoid of life, even when it was under siege. Still, other than the lack of people, it's a perfect recreation down to the last detail...
He stands there staring into space a moment longer before whirling around with a quiet snarl, the tails of his coat flaring out behind him as he strides briskly back toward the staircase.
Mocking him with the home he can't return to, for more reasons than one... If this is what taking the stairs gets him, perhaps it's better to descend using the elevator.]
[Floor 13]
[It's hard to tell whether the heavy silence of the cathedral is oppressive or calming. Maybe it's both to varying degrees.
Still, in his place at the back of the room, Raven seems almost comfortable leaning against the wall there, staring up at the stained glass.]
ROOM 01-07; FLOOR 70; 75; ??, EVE
[Eve spends a long time reading and rereading the opened letter, her expression difficult to decipher. If there are other people around, she isn't ready to engage them just yet. Social situations were never her strong point.
Eventually, staring at the letter becomes too tedious and depressing even for Eve, and she turns her attention instead to the trunk at the end of her bed. Which turns out to be a good idea, since there are two spherical drones stuck in there between huge chunks of solid metal. Can limbless robot spheres be uncomfortable?? Who knows, maybe.
Yeah, she's gonna hug the shit out of those drones.
Hi roommates enjoy the awkward robot lady hugging things in the corner while trying to pretend you all don't exist right now.]
[Floor 70]
[Of all the floors to step off on, of course the queen of machines would pick the machine floor. Her drones are hovering tightly at her sides, doing their best to stay out of harm's (and their master's) way. Despite being a stupidly dangerous place to hang out, Eve doesn't seem to be having much trouble navigating it in the slightest. It's almost as if she's used to this kind of environment.
Of course, it might not seem that way if you're just passing the floor and happen to see someone dodging giant fucking pistons and blasts of steam.]
[Floor 75]
[There's a tower in this tower.
This concept is so ridiculous it merits investigation. Seriously. Eve is just going to step off for awhile and wander around this floor because why is there a tower in this tower?]
[Dormitories/Various Floors/LITERALLY ANYWHERE EVER]
[Exploring the strange and unfamiliar tower was important, of course, but there was no way Eve, Queen of Nasods, was going to do all that footwork herself. After the party had settled in, she constructed herself a few basic Scouts to scope out the rest of their new "home", to search and report any areas of interest for future investigation.
Anddddd probably get smashed up by monsters, since they're about two feet tall and as tough as a toaster... but they can give a hell of an electrical shock if you decide to take a swing at them. Or put them in a bathtub. But you shouldn't do anyway, since Eve doesn't take kindly to anyone attacking her servants.]
ROOM 2-09/DORM FLOOR 2; FLOOR 32; FLOOR 63; RENA
[Yeah okay this really doesn't seem like a desert at all.
If she was confused already, the letter just made it worse. And there's a paradox, what gives? If the world got destroyed then she shouldn't even have a physical body. Ugh, head hurts. And this bodysuit really doesn't help. Thankfully there's her clothes in the chest in front of her bed, along with her bow and-
why are there wings in here. Crystal wings. Green ones. What.
Thinking it as important, she awkwardly dons them on in case they become useful. Nope, no flight. Why on earth are these even here anyway.
Anyway, letter carefully kept in the chest in case it's needed again, she tentatively walks outside her room into the corridor.
Say hi to the elf who's just closely observing passers-by on the floor in case they happen to be her friends, especially since it makes no sense for her to be taken and no one else.]
[FLOOR 32]
[When in doubt, try to reconnect to nature. It's an elven thing, okay. Especially since most of her powers originate from it. Not that it'll help her in this floor, but she really doesn't care. It's a forest, that's what's important. Even if it's on a floating piece of rock. Not even that's a surprise, however; she's seen her fair share of floating islands.
Anyway, she's just walking through the forest, probably touching the trees and observing the wildlife. Ah, how calming. Exactly what someone needs after being kidnapped and deposited into a tower of death.]
[FLOOR 63]
[...
This.
Is entirely too familiar.
She's just going to tentatively touch the water from the safety of the staircase. She's not going in there, nope, she doesn't want to fight underwater again.
Then again... for old times' sake? NO NOT DOING IT]
Room 1-20/Dorm floors; Floor 22 (Gallery); Floor 77 (Sauna)
[Chung just stares in shock at the letter. Destroyed. No... NO NO NO NO NO! Hamel and Senace cannot have been destroyed! He refuses to believe it! His father. His kingdom. They can't have all been... Not after all he's gone through to strengthen himself to save them. This can't...
Fighting back tears, he goes to look in the trunk, quickly changing back into his clothes. His guardian stone is still here. That's good. His father's notes are there too. As are his 'Disfrozen' grenades. That's another good thing. But what are these large metallic fragments... NOOOOOO! His cannon! WHY IS HIS CANNON IN PIECES!?!? He can't take this! Chung carefully cradles the fragments of his Destroyer in his arms.]
D-Don't worry, I'll put you back together... I'll have you all patched up in no time.
[With that he stumbles out of his room to look for a place to fix his cannon. His vision is rather blurry though as he's doing his best not to cry. Watch out or he might crash into you! His clothes are armour-plated because of his guardian stone so it's going to hurt you more than it hurts him!]
[Floor 22 (Gallery)]
[This young prince can be found wandering around in the gallery. Ah, those paintings look kind of familiar. They look like the ones in his castle back in Hamel. And this one right ahead... he smiles.]
Father...
[Before him is a majestic portrait of the great warrior and guardian of Hamel, Helputt Seiker. Chung's father. The one he's always aspired to be like. Chung stops in front of the portrait for a long while before moving on, then he gasps in surprise and backs away, for the picture round the corner shows his possessed father ready to kill him. Behind them, their kingdom lay in ruins, overrun by demons. The Chung in the picture is much younger. This was him 3 years ago before his growth spurt when he was still rather tiny and frequently mistaken for a young girl. Yet the memory is still fresh... He'd almost died then... He can still remember his father's merciless blows.]
No, Father... don't... Father, please wake up...
[Floor 77 (Sauna)]
[Chung has never been in a sauna before... He peers in curiously. What is this place? A bath? But there doesn't seem to be any water... Why is it so hot in here? What is this place for? He should ask someone!]
Excuse me! Can you tell me what this place is?
