nineteenth staff ♞ compositions for a duet

Characters: Sayaka Miki, Princess Zelda, and also you.
Setting: PART ONE: Room 1-05 -> Room 1-09. PART TWO: Floor 78 -> pretty much any floor where you can think to look for hastily-acquired gifts (because guess whose perception of time is screwy and forgot it's a holiday)
Format: Starts prose, can be action.
Summary: A double parter! One is a closed post to Zelda backdated to the day of the Q&A, and the second is open to anybody and is during V-Day!
Warnings: In part one, copious amounts of fabulous Animus history discussion. In part two, Valentine's event is in effect - Sayaka's fallen under the sway of one of the silly love songs, Lovely Ladies to be specific. So, uh, warning for a roughly-15-something year old being supernaturally compelled to be a flirt. Additional warning for a ridiculous text wall of Sayaka reading too much into things

(sheet music - first half)

Sayaka had slipped away from the admins' little Q&A session shortly before it dispersed, aiming to avoid any crowding generated by people stumbling back to their dorms to sit in safety and sort out their thoughts. It gave her time to gather her (messy, by god they're messy, barely held together by staples, post its, scotch tape and prayer) notes of her own, and carefully fold them up into her neglected schoolbag.

She at least knew Zelda's name, they'd both been residing in the same damn doom tower for who-knows-how-long - so it's an easy thing to just stride down the halls of the dorms, muttering the room numbers under her breath as she reads who inhabits each.

When she finds the right room (1-09 - she almost laughed out loud at how close it was, how didn't she notice that before?!) Sayaka sits down beside the door, and attempts a deep, meditative contemplation of how ridiculously null white the walls here really were.

(She doesn't really succeed, and ends up fiddling with the frayed ends of the bow of her school uniform like five minutes later.)

(rushed performances - second half)

She'd first checked her mailbox on a whim, who knew when, to find two Grief Seeds and a note that had boiled down to hey, make sure you take care of yourself. That day she'd clutched the valuable little artifacts to her chest with an unreadable expression, because Kyoko - she just kept giving her things like this, didn't she? The apples, the Seeds, and even her life--

It was that last one that stuck in her gut and made her realize huh, so this is what I made Kyousuke feel like, and what an awful feeling to have.

It was when she checked her mailbox again (and found, in order of what she noticed: a bountiful layer of flowers on a bed of dried grass, a tiny box of handmade chocolates poking out underneath it all, and two handwritten notes) that Sayaka realized she could finally articulate what she'd been feeling that day:

You keep giving me these things, and I don't think I can take them.

It wasn't just Kyoko, really; people in the tower were so paradoxically giving that it made her want to scream at them stop, stop it right now before you empty yourself out into nothing. But it was Kyoko that was exemplary; it was Kyoko who'd done this even before they all started getting sucked into this terrible place. Didn't they get that people could get used up? Didn't they get that they shouldn't use themselves up on her?

But the last thing she wanted to do was keep ignoring it was happening until her personal debts piled up even more. So here's what Sayaka Miki set out to do, Valentine's Day morning: she sternly ate her chocolates as advised (and fully ignored the part about "don't think too hard about stupid stuff"), stuffed her pockets full of dried flowers, and went to scour the tower for something to give back. You couldn't just give something to someone and it end there: that balance would stay tilted. And the last thing she wanted someone else to do - like she had been about to do to herself, like she's done before here - was to pour themselves away into oblivion.

The unfortunate part of this entire situation is that she quickly encountered actual background music to her dramatic search attempts.

[While you are busy gathering your notes together, Sayaka, you might hear a large crash in the room. Some girl with blond hair has tripped over the chord for her nightstand and is now lying on her bed face down. Ouch...]

[OOC: Do you want to assume that they already know each other or not?]
