It's great to meet you! ... maybe.

Characters: Ryoji Mochizuki and you!
Setting: Various Floors, starting in his room and winding up on floor 90 starting Wednesday
Format: Any - will be starting with prose.
Summary: Getting used to the tower and people, and then becoming a terrible mermaid! Open all week!
Warnings: Typical tower stuff; also warning for turning into a mermaid and dying later...

Dormitory Floor 3, Room 10

The last thing he remembers is closing his eyes and turning away from a freshly made grave. To call the sensation of waking up - especially when he hasn't slept in a very, very long time - combined with the inability to move disorienting and disconcerting is certainly an understatement. But he doesn't have any other words for it, and when he finds he can move again, he sits up abruptly, wide-eyed in surprise and uncertainty. What… is going on?

It doesn't take much searching to find the letters and from there, the chest. Opening it, he is amused (and … maybe a little relieved) to find his scarf and a couple changes of clothes (this white jumpsuit is… not what he'd choose to wear). But pulling these out, he finds something else he's a lot more mixed to see. Aigis' papillon heart… Two of Nyx's Plumes crossed together. He pulls it out and holds it, watching the soft, shifting blue glow for several moments before pressing it to his own chest. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath before carefully placing it back inside the chest, wrapping it carefully in his spare clothing.

"I'm sorry…," he whispers, and then all that's left is to change and go exploring.

He's not sure what to make of this place, of how it feels, of what the letter tells him. That his world is destroyed is no news to him, but to be taken here, to another world…? And to once again be among other living beings…? He… isn't sure how to take it, but he is filled with curiosity about this strange, new tower…

So out the door he goes, to explore the dormitory and beyond!

First Floor, Cafeteria

At the prompting of the explanatory letter, he has come to the cafeteria for his oatmeal! But… it's the middle of lunch, and there are more people than he expected. Almost shyly, he lingers on the edge, staring in amazement and wondering if he can remember how to properly interact.

Well, he can't linger forever, so forward he goes, lips twitching into a smile that isn't entirely fake - after all, he has very much missed living people, and to be among them again, even in a place like this, is an unlooked-for blessing, whether he was ready to rest or not. But this oatmeal… Once he has a bowl, he finds himself playing with it more than eating it. He's never had oatmeal before, but even so he's pretty sure it's not supposed to be this… sculptable?

Thirteenth Floor, Cathedral

As nice as living people are, it's a little overwhelming at first, and Ryoji is grateful to find a quiet, peaceful place like this. He's been in many cathedrals like this, as they are some of the few buildings to truly stand the test of time well, and this one is just as peaceful as the others. He spends a bit of time the first few days he is here just sitting, enjoying the peace. Sometimes he's like some dark angel himself, when he decides to stretch out his wings, draping them across one of the pews in a comfortable sprawl. But alone or not, he probably wouldn't mind a bit of company…

Twenty-Fifth Floor, Meadow

This is a lovely, peaceful floor, too, and Ryoji also spends quite a bit of time here, among the flowers. You might catch him making a daisy chain or maybe just relaxing.

Floor Ninety, Mermaids - Forward dated to Wednesday through Friday.

Ryoji has a thing for peaceful floors, it seems. Unfortunately this one is… deceptive, and he has not yet learned to be wary of everything and anything in this tower! The mermaids he sees swimming below make him curious, and he tries to talk to them, and well…

He can't drown. He doesn't really need oxygen to live, after all, but caught off guard like this, he is unable to escape, and before he knows it, he's changing. His legs are becoming a tail, and he's getting covered in scales, and it hurts and all he wants to do is drag other people down with him into these painful, dark depths.

Do you see that flash of yellow in the water? Isn't it pretty and bright? Beware, though - if you draw near to it, a half-transformed, half dark shadow, hald mer-creature will drag you down to join it!

But this will only last for so long before on Friday he crawls onto the sand and, spasming with the last vestiges of the transformation, he dies.

It is. Sorry, that's going to get a little confusing, isn't it?

[He's just going to hold off on using the other's name because... saying his own name to speak to someone else just seems weird.]

Did you just arrive here?
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: a little shy)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-10 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
They call it the Tower. Apparently, we've all been pulled here from different worlds after our original worlds were destroyed. The administrators keep us here... or well, keep our souls here. Most of us have had our souls put in duplicate bodies, and they replace them if we die.

[Which is common, given how often things go wrong.]
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: what's inside me)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-10 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... I'm sorry, it's a lot to take in. Most of us have just found that out ourselves.

[That was stupid of Ryoji, so he's scrambling to change the subject. What can he talk about that isn't really depressing?]
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: I'll be waiting)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-10 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know how it works myself. I think the collars we have hold our souls, but I have no idea how they make bodies so similar to ours.

L-Listen, we shouldn't talk about this. It's not something you should worry about on your first day here. Not everything is that bad, anyways.
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: this is me)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Always. The people here are nice, and it's not like there's a shortage of things to do.

[Between training with Diarmuid, exploring, and visiting friends, Ryoji doesn't exactly have a lot of time to get down on himself. Unless, of course, he dies and gets an excuse to hide out for a bit.]
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: totally not a derp)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-10 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
...I'm not sure it's even possible to count how many people there are.

[That's probably an exaggeration, but when he meets a new person pretty much every day, it's hard to imagine counting them all.]

But as for things to do, there's an entertainment room, an art gallery, a swimming pool and a soccer field... Sometimes people try cooking in the kitchen, but I'm not too good at that. I mainly just explore the different floors.
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: don't you trust me?)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-10 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay, but some of the paintings show events from different worlds... I've seen some things I didn't want to see again.

[And seeing that picture, as inaccurate as it was, had led to a pretty uncomfortable conversation with Pharos. He still doesn't understand how the boy can be so apathetic about the Fall. It may seem inevitable, but that didn't mean he shouldn't be upset that so many people are going to die.

Ryoji pushes that memory away and smiles.]

There is. I think there's... 101 floors right now? They're not all safe, though, so you need to be careful.
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: how far we've come)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-11 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well, a lot of them have monsters, or they affect you in some way. Some can take your powers away, or lead you into traps. I don't know which ones are dangerous, but I don't exactly want to find out.
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: all the shattered ones)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-12 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
...I don't really know. It feels like they do, for a short time, at least.

[Which he wouldn't have minded if such a thing would have happened in a less dangerous place, but considering the circumstances here, and how utterly worthless he had been the first time he entered the administrator areas, it was a lot better to keep some powers.]
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: nice to be missed)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-14 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It is... I'm sorry you had to end up here as well.

[He feels a little bad, and tries to switch topics. Maybe hearing about their friends will cheer him up?]

But there's some people we know here. They don't really know us very well, but Akihiko-sempai and Minato are the same as ever.
notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: all Greek to me)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-14 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? No... Don't you know Minato-kun?

[It'll take him a moment to remember that their universes are going to be different in some ways, so now he just seems surprised.]

notsogrimreaper: (Ryoji Mochizuki: guess I'll accept it)

[personal profile] notsogrimreaper 2013-03-14 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a friend of mine. He's the one that gave me this body...

Did you have someone else like that?
