the world stopped turning after my fall

Characters: Archer/Gilgamesh [AU3] and you!
Setting: Dorm room 2-12 initially, then on to other floors
Format: Whatever you prefer
Summary: Newly arrived and quick to shirk heavy duty explanations and get down to the business of exploring. That's Archer for you.
Warnings: Arrogance and dangerousness if provoked. Typical Gilgamesh.

Dormitory 02-12

Waking up to the feeling of not being able to move was not a completely new experience to Gilgamesh, unfortunately enough. After all, it had not been that long ago that he had expended just about all of his prana and then been overtaken by Saber's Excalibur, and waking up from that feeling had not been fun at all.

But he did not remember falling asleep in a bed. Did he even make it to the couch? Either way, he was staring at a ceiling that was unfamiliar, and his head was cushioned in such a way that--

--Ah. And there was the ability to move again. His lips quirk into a frown as he sits up and stares at ... his clothes. What was this thing supposed to be? Whatever it was, he was better off without it, and so he immediately unzipped the skin-tight suit and began tugging the material off of his arms.

Depending on how long it takes for someone to discover the new resident of room 12 on floor 2, he may be stripped down to half-wearing the suit, not wearing the suit at all, or be in the process of changing into a pair of black pants and an orange v-neck shirt.

Various dormitory levels

After getting out of the dorm room, it's time to properly acclimate himself to his surroundings.
That means wandering around. Gilgamesh doesn't really glance at the nameplates as he goes along, instead focusing on how everything looks pretty much the same wherever he goes. Boring.

He can be seen looking at some of the network terminals as he goes along, though he's not yet to the point of actually operating them. Maybe later, after he's gotten a little bored of exploring by foot. On the dormitory first floor, he's even looking at the open elevator with mild curiosity. Because this floor numbering system is downright odd.

Floor 81

A fascinating display.

Gilgamesh cranes his head back as far as his neck allows, taking in the strange view of the tower that seemed to stretch onward beyond earth and the stars. Seated at the window and quiet in his musings, he wonders if this is a view like what the gods could see. Was this the empty space that Enki sliced through in its devastating drive towards earth?

The mere question sends him back to his battle with Saber, and he finds himself scolding Enki for having failed him at such a critical moment. Because muttering to yourself while staring into space is definitely not strange. (But muttering to a pair of golden swords really wouldn't be much better, anyway.)

Various first block floors

The very idea of exploring new surroundings seems to give energy to the golden-haired man's actions. While he has no set destination on any of the floors he visits, he looks confident; a sharp smile never seems too far away from his face. After puzzling out the elevator earlier, it seemed fitting to go out and actually look at some of the floors in between elevator-visited areas.

He seemed to have an ability that let him not only touch, but use noble phantasms that were not his. The King of Heroes was not too happy to have his own fired weapons flung back at him.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

'Quite a character' is one way to describe him, I guess. I didn't get to interact much with him. In fact, I have said far more to you than I ever said to him. I don't even know if he would recognize me if he came here. I was below his concern.

[Diarmuid does smile slightly, not because he has been told to but because of the perching. It seems like no Archer can resist the urge to perch for long.

Perhaps it's a class skill he's just doesn't know about?
]

What is so unfortunate about the Lancer class? It is a well-balanced class with many skills. Would it have pleased you more if I had been summoned as Saber? I do qualify for that class after all.

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at him.]

Your ranking system must be different than ours. Saber, Lancer and Archer. They are the top three classes--the knight classes. I don't regret having been called into the class I was, though I do miss my swords. I would not mind having them in hand again even for a short time.

That probably makes no sense to you, does it? You who always must be best. I am only a knight, though. I have never wished to be a king.

[Diarmuid is silent for several moments seeming to ponder something before answering.]

As I have said before, I don't mind so much. However, since I chose to destroy one of my spears during the war so that we could stop Caster, I wouldn't mind having two weapons again. If that means becoming a Saber so that I can have a matched set, then so be it.

[He raises an eyebrow again at Archer's next comment. Why does he get the impression this Archer might have him making that gesture a lot?]

The rule may not apply to you, but if that is for good or ill, I do not know. It seems to me it takes little skill to fire a weapon from a portal. I would prefer to have the skill necessary to properly use a weapon than the skill needed to throw it at someone.

[Diarmuid dismisses the boast with a wave of his hand. Shooting a weapon might take some skill to aim, but when one is shooting enough of them at an enemy it very quickly becomes less about skill and more about luck. If they are going to talk about skill, there is more skill in rapidly dodging those projectiles than shooting them en masse.

It is a little harder to dismiss the blade that Archer summons, though. It is quite a beautiful piece, and he would definitely not mind taking a closer look at it. Of course, he knows better than to even try. Still, he can't hide the appreciation in his eyes.]

A fitting blade for the King of Heroes. It is quite a work of art. Do you actually fight with it then and not just with the Gate?

It has a mate then?

[Color Diarmuid extremely impressed and no small bit excited. Of course, he is also disappointed.]

Now I am even more saddened that I do not have access to my swords here. While I cannot say if you would actually accept such a challenge, I would have loved the chance to try Moralltach and Beagalltach against your blades.

[He nods, as if suddenly deciding something.]

My roommate was luckier than me. I would say you are a superior version of Archer than the one I knew. I don't know that he would never have come down from his perch long enough to fight one-on-one with someone, and a king who will not back up his words with proper actions is no king at all.

[Diarmuid bows his head slightly.]

You do me a great honor, King of Heroes. I would still suggest a spar sometime, but it seems that to suggest such a thing with me missing a weapon and as such, not at full strength, would be an insult to you and that is the last thing I want to do.

Yes, and when your thirst for battle rekindles, I am sure you will find no shortage of things to fight with be they monsters or others with whom you wish to spar. Honestly, I am just glad that unlike some people in this place, you don't wish to continue waging a war for something that isn't even here.

Are there any questions you would like to ask me about this place while we are talking? I have only been here a few months as I mentioned, but I have been doing my best to gather information about the floors so that it can be passed onto those who are newly arrived. I do understand, though, that some prefer to learn about things on their own. I just thought I would at least make the offer.

Honestly, I had little interest in the actual Grail itself. My wish was simpler.

[Diarmuid shakes his head at Archer's question.]

I'm afraid that you will not like my answer on that. There are two floors, the workshop on the 15th and another more focused workshop on floor 51, that have the materials needed to make clothing, but you do have to make the clothing yourself or have someone make it for you. Even then, none of the materials are that nice. Also, on floor 51 you have to be careful not to fall asleep. If you do so, it is said that mannequins will move and take the chance to start sewing the openings of your body shut.

Another word of warning, while it looks like there is a great deal of clothing just left on floor 83, nothing on that floor is what it seems.

Honestly, your best bet might be to request more clothing from the administrators, but there is no guarantee you will be granted your request and a lot of the time it depends on what administrator is answering the requests that month. Also, I would suggest wording any request very carefully. Sometimes requests are honored, but only in the loosest sense of the word. For example, people have asked for clothes before, but since they didn't ask for a certain size nothing they got fit.

[Diarmuid can't help but smirk slightly at the reaction. It is about what he expected.]

We don't contact them. They contact us. Every so often the hold meetings when we can ask them questions, but really? How much can we trust what they say?

The only really direct way to contact them is via the request box as I mentioned. You can also put suggestions into the box for them to consider, but I would be even more careful about the wording of any suggestion placed in there because not only might it affect you, but others as well. We have gotten several new and deadly floors as a result of people's suggestions. Some match the suggestions pretty well--like the gymnasium--but others do not.
