At Winters Heart [open]
Characters: Nesir Aeser and you
Setting: Halls, floor 100, floor fifty five
Format: either
Summary: Winter strikes. Winter is not Nesir's favourite season
Warnings: she is angry, so violence warnings? Also potential freezing to death
[Icy beginnings] It didn't take a genius to work out the pattern. Spring, summer, autumn... Nesir knew what was coming next and she wasn't happy about it. But she was prepared. Before going to bed that night she folded her cloak up and put it under her pillow, slipped her shoes under her bed for shelter.
She woke up under a layer of snow, freezing cold she got up as quickly as possible, pulling out her cloak and shoes, both still dry and wrapping them round her. She grabbed her knives from the side table.
She was about to leave the room when she paused, "You do be waking up." She went round shaking any of her roommates who might still be asleep. Frost bite was not something she would wish on anyone, not even Jade.
"Be getting up and be moving!"
She stormed through the halls, she was so hungry, so cold. Why did extreme cold and no food go together in this place.
However in her storming she stepped on ice and slipped, falling. "Darkness be taking your eyes!" She screamed at no one in particular.
[Snow covered memories] Floor one hundred was a floor she mostly avoided, for many reasons. But today she stepped onto the floor (alright she slipped off the step onto the floor...) and frowned as she found herself in one of the inner courtyards of the temple. It was empty of people but apart from that it was exactly as she remembered. So realistic she could almost hear the clashing of weapons, barked orders and laughter of trainees.
The snow didn't take anything away from the illusion, a perfect image of the temple in winter. She took out her daggers, she had to keep moving, couldn't stop or she would freeze. She began going through knife forms, fluidly going from one to another.
[To freeze or to burn] The blizzard ripped through the tower, not even moving could warm Nesir up and as she passed people passed out from cold she wondered when she would be next. It made her angry, her temper short as she began to lose feeling in her fingers and toes.
She needed heat... And she knew the place... She made her way to the incinerator, she hated fire and it was a floor she avoided when she wasn't working. But heat was better than freezing to death.
She got there and stepped into the floor fearfully. Instead of the blast of heat she was expecting there was... nothing... The fire was out...
Nesir cursed and slumped against the wall, sitting down in the snow. She had to keep going... had to move... wouldn't let winter defeat her...
But she was so hungry, and so tired...

It's all right, I've got you.
[He props her back up, and once she has her balance, pulls away with a small smile nodding at her coat.]
It's a cold one, isn't it? Looks like you were prepared, though.
no subject
Thank you. [She grinned through chattering teeth.] It did no be hard to guess what did be coming next.
no subject
[He's still pretty disappointed that he doesn't have any winter clothing, but at least the scarf is warm... Still, he's wondering if he should slip it off and give it to her, judging to how cold she looks.]

Floor 55
Mihli's careful footsteps break through the snow-cloaked ground, a now-tattered bedsheet tangled about her body in some vain attempt to keep warm. It's not at all a surprise that this floor's a no go as well, honestly, it was wishful thinking to hope that the incinerator would continue to work at such cruel temperatures, a wish she'd begun to regret mid-trek, and one she's in the process of damning herself over upon the realization that all this had been for naught.
Fatigue clouds her mind, strength fleeing her limbs and replaced with cold. The urge to collapse onto the floor and sleep where she lay almost sounded appealing, a nearby wall serving as support while she attempts to sort out her thoughts - that's when she spots another person in the distance, curled up by themselves. Despite the crippling weakness in her bones, Mihli stands at her full height with a huff, slowly trudging over towards Nesir, then collapsing right next to her, unabashed, as if the two of them were fast friends.]
Y-you pic-cked the wrong floor to sleep on.
[A shaky hand reaches into the makeshift cloak, pulling out half of what appears to be a fishstick
(nearly frozen at that)which Mihli offers to the popsicled stranger]I'm not w-watching you die, and it's too cold to leave.

She looked at the girl blankly as she approached and realised she had stopped shivering. That was bad... She blinked as she was handed a half frozen thing and didn't think twice before shoving it in her mouth, not caring that it was so cold it hurt her teeth or that the woman might have just poisoned her. Cold made her stupid it seemed and that was the first food she had had in days.
The presence of another body gave warmth, and Nesir wriggled closer. Then realised she hadn't spoken at all and blinked.] Thank you... I will... no be dying...
no subject
G-good, because if I wake up next to a c-ccorrpse I'm going to be very irrritated.
[Normally such close proximity with Mihli would spell a swift boot to the face, but since becoming a General, the protection of others has become her first priority. A barblizzara incantation would've at least taken the edge off the chill though she had long since exhausted her magical energies for such a simple spell - in her haste to protect others from the shrill cold she'd forgotten to conserve enough for herself. Idiotic. That meant Nesir here would have to suffer along with her.]
Keep t-talking. It'll help you stay awake. Wh-hat's your name?

[Icy beginnings]
...Huh...?
[She opened her eyes, but didn't move otherwise just yet. Sluggish and numb as the cold had left her, it was going to take a little longer than usual for Rise to get moving this morning.]
no subject
[This is her best acolyte voice, used for rousing lazy trainees and convincing them that running laps before sunrise was the only way for them to become warriors.]
no subject
For now, she just moves to the edge of her bed and puts her feet into the shoes Nesir found for her, pulling the (still somewhat snowy) blanket off her bed with her.]

no subject
Which is why when she spots Nesir slumped in the snow, she's quick to crouch down by her and shifts to wrap her coat around her since it's easily big enough to fit two of them, and body heat will help. Usually she would flinch away from being this close to someone, but she's not letting Nesir freeze.]
no subject
And she recognised the person, her voice was faint when she spoke] April?

"Miss is alright? ...Miss wants to play in the snow with Shiro?"
Of course, Shiro doesn't recognize Nesir since she's only ever met her as Wretched Egg.
no subject
A clearer memory was their fight, and Wretched Egg drowning her, Nesir hadn't seen her since. But this didn't seem right...
"You do be wanting to play?" She remembered clearly what she saw as playing, and Nesir just hoped she had the strength.

There is nothing more to be found here, no fuel or materials remaining nearby the furnace--but there is Life.
Snow-covered, but Life nonetheless. Lancelot does not bring warmth, it is not in his nature, but this one he knows, and he will not suffer her to pass away alone in this place.
He clears the snow from her head with a mailed hand (his armor shields him from the chill somewhat, though he does not wear his helm) and speaks her name.]
Wake, Nesir Aeser. I do not think this sleep is the way one so hot-blooded would wish to pass.
no subject
She felt a presence nearby and a hand brushed over her head and spoke her name. She forced her eyes open and looked up at the warrior... for a moment she was confused thinking it was a Warrior, one from her world.
But then she placed the face and realised it was the knight she had spoken to on the network.] Lancelot?
no subject
[He makes quick work of the rest of the snow, clearing it from Nesir's limbs. His armor fades away temporarily as he feels of her hands with his own.]
You should not linger here, your hands and feet will suffer for it first. Come away with me-- I know of places if not less dangerous, then at least less likely to become a tomb in this blizzard.
no subject
She nodded, though movement hurt and she tried to rise to her feet, icy limbs protesting at the movement.]

Jade already had some sleeping problems here and there, so it didn't exactly take much for her to rouse when Nesir started yelling and shaking her. Nesir yelling was the first thing-- the second thing was holy shit damn it was freezing.
She started shivering immediately when she realized oh yeah there was a shitton of snow on her bed, and fumbled blindly for her sunglasses and scarf.
"W-W-What the fuck h-h-happened?!"

"Th-Th-The fuck kinda-- this's like s-some kind of s-snowpocalyptic b-b-blizzard!" She tried to stutter out, take the scarf and wrapping it around her neck and the bottom of her face. Granted, the rest of the seasons that just happened, weren't so...normal, but...
She dug herself out of the snow and stumbled off her snow-covered bed. For all the winter months they'd just gotten through, all she really had was her white button-up shirt and her red god tier pajamas as far as warmer clothes went, which were still stashed in her trunk after summer.
