Summary: Legolas returns from the admin levels with his arm bloodied and useless so he asks Gandalf and Haldir to kill him.
Warnings: Character death.

Legolas waited in the elevator until it reached his dorm floor, cloak hanging over his bad arm and carefully wrapped around the injury to prevent blood from dripping onto the floor. Already the forest colored fabric was stained red though, his arm hanging uselessly at his side. He wasn't sure if he was in shock or if his nerves had been damaged but he could barely feel his arm anymore. If only his companions hadn't been so careless when they had entered Riki's room, this might not have happened. That he'd even managed to survive was a miracle. Not that the miracle would last very long.

Haldir. Get Gandalf.

He called out to his companion with his mind as he pushed open the door to his room. Thanking whoever could hear his prayers, he went further inside and collapsed onto his bed, hissing as pain suddenly filled his senses. That answered whether he was in shock or not.

Gandalf said no words, however the odds of saving Legolas were low and at this point he was pretty certain the prince himself didn't want to survive this wound-- Would he survive by miracle? He would be be suffering from grievous wounds, a thing one couldn't survive with in this tower. He sighed, all they could do at this point was ease his passing.

When Haldir spoke, the white wizard slowly put a hand on his shoulder and shook his head.

"We will act quickly--" he then turned "Legolas. Is this what you desire?"

There was a sharp gasp of pain from the younger elf as Haldir tried to stop the bleeding, fingers twitching but otherwise still. Out of instinct, Legolas tried to cringe away from the pain and hug his arm to his side as he had while coming back up from the admin levels. How could he admit to Haldir that he didn’t think his arm could be saved? That he didn’t think there was much point in keeping him from dying that this point? Loss of his arm would leave him without much ability to defend himself, placing Haldir or another in danger to protect him. He couldn’t draw him bow to hunt. Legolas would be a liability. And he knew that, he’d had time to consider his options while coming back upstairs.

And suddenly he regretted not going straight to Gandalf. He hadn’t wanted Haldir to react like this. To argue his decision as he knew that the march warden would. Looking to the wizard, Legolas gave an almost imperceptible shake of his head: No.

Leaning over the Haldir, brushing his good hand through the hair of the other elf, Legolas spoke softly.

“Haldir, love… I was dead the moment that Riki’s lasers first tore into my arm. I can’t move my fingers and I’ve lost most feeling in the rest of my arm but for the sheer agony of sudden movements. I was a fool, wandering down to the administrator section with the others. My curiosity has killed me.”

With that, he pulled Haldir into a one-armed embrace. Filling it with what love he could, telling Haldir that it was okay and that it was better like this. Better that Haldir not worry for his safety or place himself at risk to ensure it.

“Gandalf… I need your help. That’s why I asked Haldir to bring you. I… cannot do this on my own.” He hadn’t the strength or courage to end his own life. Even when he knew he’d wake up the next morning.
