Characters: Margulis and OPEN
Setting: Anywhere during the seasons event, Floor 100 currently.
Format: Action preferred this time, mun is still not up to full.
Summary: Margulis has some issues with the weather and then has to deal with the disappearance of a close friend.
Warnings: Maybe mentions of war, racism and oppression eventually.

[Summer]

*Margulis tolerates heat better than cold, but there's a certain point where it's too much even for him. He's actually wearing something without sleeves during these days, showing scars from blades, bullets and lasers on his arms. Even so, the heat is still suffocating. But people might occasionally catch him with fire in the shape of a dragon shooting up and turning back down on him, after which he seems much less bothered for a few moments.*

[Winter]

*Winter finds him more immediately bothered, but having an easier time coping. He'll be spending most of his time on the meadow floor, sitting by the edge of a large fire that seems to be consuming wood at a much slower pace than it should be. But not for no reason, as he's actually using his powers to channel his own energy into it to keep it going.*

[Floor 100]

*With Pellegri disappearing back home, just like Jin had, Margulis is not in the best of moods. He's wandering around Floor 100. Whatever he sees, he obviously has mixed feelings about it, given the scowl on his face despite the fact that the hologram should be showing him somewhere he misses.*

[Shion actually hadn't experienced floor 100 yet, so she's a little surprised when she steps off the stairs. She's reaching out to touch something when she notices Margulis there.]

Oh, co-- Margulis. I didn't know you were here too.

*He catches her almost calling him by one or the other of his old titles, but refrains from commenting since she stopped herself.*

[Wow, he's not still that broken up over Jin, is he? Probably best to change the subject.]

But this room... Why would it look like this? It's obviously a projection, but, still...

[She waves her hand through something that isn't there for Margulis.]

*Well, he is still carrying Jin's sword, but he had put that loss aside. But Jin having already disappeared does make finding out Pellegri's gone even worse.*

It also seems as if it's different for each of us, unless you intended to attempt to touch empty air.

Oh, I see. That makes a little more sense. But still, it doesn't explain why.

*He looks around, taking in the sight of whatever it is the floor is showing him.*

At a guess, I would assume it's an attempt of the Administrators to placate us by providing a way to simulate a visit to somewhere familiar. A pathetic attempt at imitating an EVS.

You have learned the Tower's cruelest lesson.

[ Surprise, Margulis! He's just now ascending the stairs. Wilhelm hasn't really done much, lately, but in this case, he will venture to such a high floor of this hellhole of a tower. ]

But the question remains if you will grow stronger for it. I confess that my knowledge of the universe does not extend to previous Recurrences.

*He doesn't see you just yet, but turns to look right at you as he steps around something only visible to him.*

I certainly don't intend to allow it to break my will.

*Even though this means that he only has one personal friend in the Tower now. But losing friends, one way or another, is just part of his life.*

You are one of many to say that. And you would not be the first, nor the last, to not live up to such a claim, if you lack the willpower.

[ Wilhelm finally enters the floor, stopping a good several yards away from Margulis. ]

Do you know why Testaments allow themselves to exist?

If learning of Ormus' betrayal and witnessing the deaths of Kukai and Pellegri couldn't break me, I highly doubt this will.

But I never spoke with Uzuki at any length on his existence as a Testament, nor did I have much in the way of conversation with the ones that exist in my own universe.

I cannot force Shining Wills to become a Testament against their will. Oftentimes, they fear death, or they have an attachment to another mortal and are not ready to leave them. Testaments exist purely by virtue of human nature.

The Jin from your cycle is very different from my own.

From what I've heard from the others, I assume you're referring to the fact that he opposes U-TIC.

But what does any of this have to do with me?

You are wasting your time worrying about your own universe.

It's human nature to cling to what's familiar, isn't it? Even I'm not exempt from that. Especially in a place like this that makes every attempt to drain us of our will to fight.

*There's also the fact that he's bad at making friends and isn't expecting to be able to replace the ones he's losing, but like he'll admit that.*

Your world would have ceased to exist regardless. My very existence is proof that your world was not strong enough to resist the eternal recurrence. In that sense, its purpose has already been served, regardless of where we find ourselves now.

You'll have to forgive me if I don't assume that the existence of alternate timelines necessarily requires the destruction of my own.

[After taking care of the beaten and battered books, Tohko had the bright idea to try and take a dip in the seventh floor's swimming pool. However, after taking all the energy to get there and sweating all the way, she was a bit..disappointed to find that there wasn't any water in the pools. Sighing to herself, she exited the floor and started to climb up the stairs when she saw a man with fire in the shape of a dragon shooting down on him. He didn't seem hurt..but it was best to ask anyway.]

Doesn't..the fire..bother you?

[In a few minutes, she was going to try and summon some rain if things got to be unbearable. However, she had no idea that this was the same man that she had tried to help back in December.]

*He looks over as the last of the embers faded, taking a breath as his nanomachines begin taking in the extra heat around him. The difference is enough that he's visibly having an easier time breathing.*

Just the opposite. This technique allows me to absorb heat energy and use it to recover from personal injuries. In this case, it makes the current temperature far more bearable.

[..Tohko paused for a moment before smiling. She recognized that voice! So this was the bleeding man she had tried to help in December. It was nice to finally see him.]

That's..pretty useful. I don't suppose there's any way you'd be able to teach me how to do that technique?

[..She'll bring up the fact that she knows him in a minute. She's suspecting that she won't be able to do any of the things that he knows, but asking won't hurt.]

Doubtful. It would be impossible unless your universe is similar enough to mine to make use of the same form of nanomachines.

[At that, Tohko sighed, but her smile didn't fade. Nanomachines..that sounded rather familiar. It was a small guess, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.]

Sadly, nanomachines don't exist in my universe..so I guess not. However..pardon my asking..but..is Earth destroyed in your universe?

*He scowls but nods. He may have left Ormus behind long ago, but his desire to return to Lost Jerusalem hasn't faded in the least.*

That's one theory, at least. Mankind fled that planet long ago and hasn't been able to return since.

[..Tohko noticed that scowl and sighed.]

..Because it was destroyed. At least, that's what I heard.

[..Maybe it was time to at least make this conversation a bit lighter.]

However, it's nice to meet you again. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to see you back in December..but it's nice to meet you!
