008 ♃ the sky is red tonight, we're on the edge tonight

Characters: Sheba and you!
Setting: The cafeteria, the desert, and the lounge on the 81st floor.
Format: Brackets to start but I'll switch to prose if you want to!
Summary: Sheba's spent a little over a week on her destroyed homeworld, and she's still feeling out of sorts. She would be back just in time for a Jason month, wouldn't she?
Warnings: Sheba has a tendency to try to read the minds of people she doesn't know well, though it's up to you if it's successful or not. The likelihood of her trying it is way up since she's sort of on edge right now.

[Floor 01 - The Cafeteria]
[The line for food is shorter than usual, Sheba notes. And the cafeteria is emptier. It's comforting and terrifying at the same time, but she tries to dismiss the feeling of unease - there are still people here, just less of them, it's not like the ruins of Weyard - and makes her way to the front to get something to eat.

When she gets there and sees what the meal options are, she raises an eyebrow.

Suddenly she understands why the place wasn't very crowded.]

...is this some kind of joke?

[Floor 64 - The Desert]
[She's sitting down not too far from the stairs, idly tracing out designs and then directing the wind to wipe them away with a flick of her wrist. It's hot and mildly uncomfortable, yes, but it's also nostalgic in a way. Lalivero was almost as close to the desert as it was to the ocean, and in the days before monsters and windstorms had run rampant in the desert she'd gone there often.

When she closes her eyes, she can almost believe she's back home again - really home, not the empty shell of her world. She can feel the sand beneath her fingers, can feel the warmth of the sun at her back, and she can't see the staircase that indicates that this is no natural desert.

Another flick of her wrist, and this time a small whirlwind begins to form in front of her. It only comes up to about her waist, and she's definitely keeping it under control, but there's something about it that makes her smile.

Maybe this floor wasn't so bad after all. She waves her hand with a giggle and the whirlwind nearly doubles in size - anyone on the stairs might have wind, dirt, or both to contend with as they pass through or even stop.]

[Floor 81 - The Stratosphere Lounge]
[It's getting late, and Sheba knows she should probably start heading back up to her room before a monster finds her or something, but she's plenty comfortable where she is - curled up and resting on the glass bulge that allows them to see out beyond the Tower's walls.

The stars are breathtaking, but it's the fog that really catches her attention. She can't help but wonder what's under it - what's out there. Is it really so terrible there that being confined to the Tower would be preferable to it? She just doesn't know, and try as she might she can't see anything to help her make up her mind one way or another.

It's relaxing to just look at the fog, though her thoughts do start to stray - and that's not really something she wants. With a heavy sigh, she turns her head away from the ground far below them and looks up at the stars.]

So they're beautiful here too...

"Unpleasant" would be an understatement. [He nonchalantly tucked his hands in his pockets.]

It's not for the weak of heart. Not that it would really matter anyway. You'll see when it gets to ya-- I doubt you'd believe me if I just told you.

[He also has no interest in giving newbies a crash course on Jason anyway.]

[At first, the dismissiveness of his...dismissiveness made him chuckle sardonically a bit.] Wouldn't wanna spoil--

[But at that, he promptly cut off, and his face seemed like it reset into a complete blank while he went even paler than before. There were no mental barriers in place or anything-- it seemed like he noticed her trying to read his mind, but on the contrary, if he were normal he wouldn't have even been aware.

Unfortunately, his mind was not normal at all.

His thoughts were pretty mild compared to other people he might speak too; a few moments reminiscing needles and knives, something about chips and data pathways, and a jungle cat? But it was easy to miss that, because there was something else making a racket in there. Something, despite Jin being clearly humanoid, that was decidedly non-human.

And it was nasty-- whispering cruel insults and musing about doom and damnation and issuing gruesome threats of violence. At first, it seemed like these were simply directly at Jin, but a moment later, the voice was keenly aware that there was some sort of intruder, and turned all of its threats on ire on her instead.

get out

there is NO PLACE FOR YOU

OR I SHALL MAKE YOU LEAVE
]

What the hell are you--?!

[The voice didn't seem to wait for an answer from either of them, as the overwhelming noise of the voice's anger at this transgression seemed to be making a mental cacophony that transcended past being just loud and annoying, and for Jin at least started causing him physical pain. He recoiled slightly even though there was no physical threat, lowering his head and half-cradling his temples as if he could wrench the voice out through his own head.]

WORST WEEKLY TRADITION EVER

[He wasn't sure if it was the fact that there was another foreign force in his head, or the fact that Moros was getting riled up for the first time in who knows how long, but holy fucking shit it felt like his head was being cracked open and set on fire with an acidic inflammatory.

And unfortunately, he didn't really know the ins and outs of her Psynergy crap, and Moros didn't seem to be courteous enough to just back out.]

J-Just-- Shut up and get out--!

[He tried yelling at her, but his own voice just erupted in a scream as it didn't seem to be going fast enough for Moros; in a crack of white light, a giant, mechanical satellite figure seemed to rise out of his head, even though it just sort of manifested out of nowhere.

It wasn't talking anymore, but it was clearly the "body" of the foreign force. And it knew enough to know that Sheba was the problem.

Its parts rotated as its mental-verb tirade continued, with the added touch of a blast of fire appearing as if the air was set on fire, centered right on Sheba.]

[He hardly noticed Sheba's lack of any sensible course of action-- his eyes were scrunched shut, as if closing them would shut out enough of the world that the pain would stop. But of course, that would never happen whenever this happened. All he could really deduce from the situation was that the girl was screaming, and oh god it just made it hurt even more.]

God damnit you idiot, move--!!

[He peaked his eyes open, only to see her backing up-- and with enough burns that would probably leave some good scars. Eh. He'd seen worse.

Moros was turning his parts, his volatile speech neverending, and Jin hastily-- and very shakily-- dug into the pockets of his pants trying to find-- something, anything. His pills? Where the fuck were they? He wasn't so stupid to not still be carrying them, was he?

Instead, all he found was his Evoker and a grenade, and his glasses slowly slipping off his face, as Moros called down another attack-- this time a blast of electricity, still aimed towards Sheba, and coming down from ceiling as if it were the sky.]

Just-- get out of here, will you?!
morituramfides: (No one Will Catch us)

[personal profile] morituramfides 2013-05-19 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Moros' own lightning was over soon enough-- he was no lightning rod himself, and though he seemed to flinch and react in pain to Sheba's attack, he didn't seem all that perturbed.

Jin however, let out another grunt of pain in time with Moros, falling to one knee and placing one hand on the ground next to him to try and stable himself. God fucking damn it this had happened plenty of times before but every fucking time he was positive that all of this shit was just gonna burn up and rip out his synapses.

It hurt. He was having trouble thinking clearly anymore.]

That doesn't-- [He couldn't even think right enough to finish a sentence properly.] YOU'RE NOT HELPING!
morituramfides: (Will we Ever Make it through?)

[personal profile] morituramfides 2013-05-22 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
[He'd never accept help like that-- not even under extenuating circumstances had he ever accepted help like that of his own free will. But he-- he didn't even know where he was anymore, just who was this? Where was his arm, how high off the ground was he-- where was the ground?

Too many basic questions he couldn't answer anymore.

It's a reflex then, that Jin takes a grip on Sheba's arm with his free hand when she helps him up, his fingers quickly curling into a vice grip as if it could possibly abate the pain, while Moros unleashed another few fire attacks, though a tad more scattered.

He was shaking by now-- not really something he could control. But he's able to at least force some coherence in his mind and words out, if only for a minute.]

Get rid of it.

[He didn't wait for an answer, and didn't give an explanation. Instead, he brought up his opposite hand-- still holding the grade-- near his mouth, wrenching the pin out with his teeth. He wasn't exactly able to hold onto it; it quickly fell out of his teeth, landing on the floor with a small 'clanging' sound.

He hadn't even realized if Sheba was still here, or what she was doing, or-- anything, really. All he knew was that the grenade was in his hand, and Moros was above.

A few more seconds that felt like an eternity, and the grenade blew away its outercasing and exploded-- right in the middle of Jin's palm.]
