There were wires all around, electrical sounds

Characters: Rabbit and Open!
Setting: Lagoon, forest, and then rampaging around the dormitory.
When: Anywhere from midday to midnight
Format: Prose/action it's whatever you please
Summary: Rabbit has gotten bored and went exploring. Unfortunately he gets so bored that he's forced to take drastic action in the form of loud accordion sounds on the dorm floor.
Warnings: Rabbit is his own warning.

Lagoon

It was pretty here, he'd admit that. Pretty enough to bask in the sun and play in the sand but not nearly pretty enough to even attempt to play in the water. The robot knew his own weaknesses. He settled for hurling large rocks into the crystal clear lagoon waters, or skipping stones, before building a massive sand castle in the sands of the beach and rampaging through it. He cared exactly just enough about his clothes to carefully hang them from a branch before happily making a massive mess out of the pristine beach. The Spine would have had a fit to see his brother prancing around with no pants on, but it wasn't as if there were any parts to hide persay. Then again, a lady showing up might actually earn the shameless robot's embarrassment.

Forest

Not half bad. He hadn't been in a forest in a long time, and it was kind of interesting to be in one again. Clothed this time, and attempting to climb up the bigger, thicker looking trees. He knew damn well the little ones would never be able to support his copper frame. Humming show tunes and generally being loud and childish in the forest, at the very least he was keeping it to a wild, wooded area rather than a place where people might actually be attempting to rest. Anyone approaching the robot here would probably get talked to death, as he was fast running out of patience for this place, as massive as it was. He enjoyed attention after all, exploring only fun if there was someone else to do it with.

Dorms

Well he'd lost it.

He'd returned to the dorms with exactly zero things to do and not enough of the attention he so craved. He was used to people! Lights! Action! Music! Brothers to tease! And so far he hadn't met anyone he knew at all so... Well apparently everyone must suffer.

He'd taken to roaming the halls, a horrible honking accompanying him. He'd gotten the accordion out and was pretty much abusing the poor thing, pressing every key imaginable and rapidly expanding and contracting it, mad mechanical giggles and whirrs filling the hallway, which would occasionally break out into full out laughter and a few lines of garbled music.

He was so bored!

It was pretty terrible, but it did have one good consequence: Yotsuba was looking into ways where she could defend herself. She was having some success, but she was hoping to improve it.

"Oh, alright then! I've never had a big brother before..but I know what they are!"

It was a shame she even had to learn how to defend herself. She was only a little kid, she should have been learning her alphabet, not how to take someone in a fight.

"Good! We-we-well ya got one now! An' I-I-I'm the best big brother there is too."

Actually, she was a bit too young for school..but yes, ideally, that's what she should have been doing. However, Animus was not the ideal spot for children.

"Alright then! I'm lucky that I have the best big brother then!"

Still. He'd do his best to make it a little more child friendly, she certainly didn't deserve to get hurt again.

"Yer r-r-right ya are! Alright ki-ki-kiddo, let's go an' see where yer su-su-supposed ta be. It's ge-gettin' a bit late."

She didn't, and nor did any of the other children that resided here. There was a school in place..but Yotsuba wasn't aware of it, sadly.

"Oh..but I'm not sleepy!"

All children fight against bedtime. This is a universal constant, Rabbit.

Not that Rabbit would have made her go to school. Or do anything really, but any place where she'd be safe would be good enough for Rabbit.

"Yer no-no-not? S-s-sure is late, kiddo. Ya sure ya ain't sleepy?"

She had to at least be a little tired. She was a little kid, she couldn't be awake for too long, right?

It would be good enough for Yotsuba too, to be honest. For a moment, Yotsuba yawned before quickly breaking it off and replying.

"..Maybe a little. Do you know the way back?"

Oh, he saw that yawn. He smiled, reaching down to ruffle her hair again. He didn't have to sleep, he didn't have to worry about it. But humans needed it. That much he did know.

"Ya d-d-don't know the way ba-back?"

Yotsuba laughed a little at that hair ruffle, and looked up, a plate catching her attention. She didn't know the names, but she did understand that this was the third floor.

"Oh! Yotsuba knows now! I have to go up a floor."

"We-we-well good! We'll g-g-go up a level! C'mon, kiddo, lets go visit yer room." He started off again, pausing to see if she was coming along. He certainly didn't want to forget her after all.

"Alright then! Let's go!~"

Quickly, Yotsuba ran after Rabbit, holding onto his hand when she got close enough. You didn't let go of a family member's hand when you were walking with them! At least, that's what Daddy had told her a long time ago.

He held onto her hand carefully, but firmly, his stride slow and heavy. It wouldn't be too hard for her to keep up with him at all. Funny, he didn't get to hold hands very often, especially not a child's hand. New experience really.

"I'll te-te-tell ya another story when we get there too."

Yotsuba had never held the hand of a robot either, but that was the joy in living for her. There were always new experiences, so most of every day was an adventure.

"Really?! I love stories!"

There really wasn't much to hold on to. His hand was skeletal and thin, but strong. Clothed in a silk glove to keep any sharp ends from catching anywhere. He couldn't really feel much other than a faint pressure in his hand, but it was enough to remind him to keep his grip gentle.

"I can te-tell! This one is a-a-about a suspender man who played the banjo. Be-be-best banjo player in the whole wide world."

Even if it wasn't much, it was still something, and Yotsuba really didn't mind that it was thin or that he couldn't feel much of her.]

"Oh..I don't know what a banjo or suspenders are..but I know what boxer man is! Daddy used to do the boxer man dance all the time!"

And something was always better than nothing at all.

"A ba-ba-banjo is like a guitar. Only round an' smaller. An' suspenders..." He messed with his jacket, popping a few buttons off and tugging the cloth away to show off his shirt under it. And there were suspenders, right under that!

"Hold yer pants up! Ju-ju-just like a belt. A boxer man, huh? So wha-what's that?"

Yotsuba watched as he undid his shirt, smiling and nodding as she saw what suspenders actually were. Since she knew what a guitar was, understanding what a banjo was wasn't too difficult.

"Oh, alright then! Yotsuba understands! And when Daddy turns into boxer man, he puts his boxers on his head and mixes up reality! It's silly!"

Even thought that should have been something bad, Yotsuba spoke happily. She did like her Daddy's boxer man dances.

Suspenders and banjos were easy things to understand. Rabbit certainly wasn't about to break out anything too complicated on the poor little girl. Certainly nothing that would require too much of an explanation.

"Boxers on his head, huh?" Rabbit didn't get it. He didn't quite understand what that might meant. It just sounded like someone being silly with boxers on their head. Sometimes The Jon did that. Well okay once, but that was just being silly.

"S-s-sounds funny ta me! Mixin' up reality an' all."

"Yup!"

Yotsuba understood it perfectly well, but that was because she had grown up a bit with it. Since Koiwai didn't have much money all the time, he had turned his laundry into a bit of a fun game with some story for Yotsuba. Sure, it was weird, but Yotsuba didn't really seem to care.

"It is! But Daddy always goes back to normal, so it's okay!"

Well there was nothing wrong with something being weird. Rabbit certainly knew that, just look at his family! All wierdos, all plenty fun to spend his time with. Family was allowed to be a bit wierd, it wouldn't be the same if they weren't.

"We-well as long as he goes ba-back ta normal, that's just fine. Wouldn't be r-r-right for reality to be all flipped all the t-time, right? He sure sounds li-like a fun guy though. Can't wait ta m-meet him."

Not that Yotsuba would think Rabbit's family was weird. She would probably enjoy them and think that they were cool.

"Right! And you will, eventually! He'll be happy to have a..s..son!"

They were cool! They were the coolest bunch around, as far as Rabbit was concerned. Anyone would have been lucky to have gotten the brothers Rabbit had gotten, in his not so humble opinion.

"R-right! We'll all m-meet an' be a b-b-big happy family." Now to put this kid to bed because if there was one thing Rabbit knew about people, it was that they needed to sleep to be healthy. Especially little kids.

Well, then Yotsuba was lucky that she had met Rabbit and gotten him to be her honorary big brother. That was her opinion on the matter.

"Right! We can play together and sing..and I can show you Daddy's curry. You can't eat it..but it's yummy!" While bedtime was what had started this walk, it was the furthest thing on Yotsuba's mind right now.

And it was an excellent opinion. More people needed to have that opinion!

"We s-s-sure can! I wou-wouldn't mind seein' that curry. Nuthin' wrong with lo-lookin' at it. An' I can ta-ta-take ya down ta the cafeteria fer ice cream!" They had ice cream there, right? God he hoped so, what was life without ice cream? Now Rabbit was distracted from the original idea behind this walk. There were so many things to talk about!

That they did!

Yotsuba lit up at the idea of ice cream. If there was anything she loved more than her Daddy's curry, it was ice cream.

"Yotsuba would like some ice cream!~ When there's some here, we should eat it together!"
