Really not okay with this [Attn Frodo]
Characters: Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins
Setting: Sam's room (2-04)
Format: prose but can switch
Summary: Backdated a little to just after the event, Sam got killed, and is having a moment
Warnings: Just generic event stuff
He had been warned, told that death happened a lot here and when it did you came back in a different body, good as new. And it had been told to him like it was normal, but it wasn't. Sam really would have expected himself not die quite as soon, after all he had made it quite a few years, forty of them even as he had found out the date here to learn that some time in Mordor or coming here his birthday had passed.
So with all those years and a good few months traveling to the depths of Mordor, he would have expected to last a bit longer in this place, but he had been attacked and killed by one of the other residents, who had been controlled by those that ran this place.
After he woke up, to ten minutes of not being able to move, he had decided to stick to his room. Safer that way, he worried about Frodo, and Legolas who had been caught up in the events. But apart from a few trips to make sure Frodo was still breathing he laid low, hoping it would be all over soon.

Afterwards he'd taken to watch him like a hawk, though at times even Samwise, warmest hobbit he knew, seemed -- withdrawn. He had gone to the fires of Mordor, seen so much darkness as he had -- so what had caused it? They had seen others killed in their quest, felt many wounds and injuries -- exhaustion, starvation, fear..so what caused such a different reaction?
Daily he visited, and daily he found as each passing day went by, that he could no longer remain discreet in his concern.
He would find what had happened to Sam in their separation.
His presence is a quiet knock on the door, audible enough to be heard, and an anxious voice.
"Sam? Sam you're in there, aren't you?"

He knew he should stop hiding, but nothing made sense here. At least before in mordor with an all powerful enemy they had a goal, and as dark and grim as it seemed they could see the end, even if it seemed very far away.
Here there was no end, no aim, their quest wasn't even fulfilled as Frodo still had the ring, their captors could control them, twist their friends against them, and everyone Sam spoke to claimed there was no known way to stop them.

Too long had he been on the road to the quest, to an end -- here, Sam was right. There was none, and the less he found one the harder it was to find any hope.
"I'm coming in, Sam. It won't do to hide alone."

"Sam, are you alright? " The way he acted was more like himself, quiet and tending to be solitary -- not something Sam should be.

It wouldn't do. It wouldn't do at all.
Frodo's expression sobered further.
"I know that very well, Sam. But if there's anything I've learned from traveling with you, that it won't do to withhold things from a friend."
Would Sam let him bear some of his burdens just as he did his? He hoped so.
"This behavior..it's not like you, Sam."

And now he was drawn again, the Ring pulling on him.
"I really am, I just, they said you could die and come back again here but knowing it isn't the same as knowing it if you know what I mean and I guess it's taking a while for my brain to catch up with the rest of me."

It made his stomach tighten seeing that look once again.
Yet the words spoken made him go even more quiet; puzzled. "But why would that concern you Sam? You were fine when we separated -- thought it took me some time to find you. " The idea of someone like Sam dying was almost impossible to imagine -- or perhaps it was because Frodo couldn't bear it if it actually happened.

Though he feels a bit silly about that now, he should have found Frodo, and warned him though he had a feeling the other hobbit knew better than him how dangerous things could get.
