Really not okay with this [Attn Frodo]

Characters: Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins
Setting: Sam's room (2-04)
Format: prose but can switch
Summary: Backdated a little to just after the event, Sam got killed, and is having a moment
Warnings: Just generic event stuff

He had been warned, told that death happened a lot here and when it did you came back in a different body, good as new. And it had been told to him like it was normal, but it wasn't. Sam really would have expected himself not die quite as soon, after all he had made it quite a few years, forty of them even as he had found out the date here to learn that some time in Mordor or coming here his birthday had passed.

So with all those years and a good few months traveling to the depths of Mordor, he would have expected to last a bit longer in this place, but he had been attacked and killed by one of the other residents, who had been controlled by those that ran this place.

After he woke up, to ten minutes of not being able to move, he had decided to stick to his room. Safer that way, he worried about Frodo, and Legolas who had been caught up in the events. But apart from a few trips to make sure Frodo was still breathing he laid low, hoping it would be all over soon.

"Then you'll not be surprised that I insist on coming in?" Frodo queried in response, brows furrowed. Sam had borne so much -- had borne him in his failing state. Even now Frodo felt himself failing, and yet Sam, Sam was subject not only to his predicament, but a place entirely not their own.

Too long had he been on the road to the quest, to an end -- here, Sam was right. There was none, and the less he found one the harder it was to find any hope.

"I'm coming in, Sam. It won't do to hide alone."

He's still used to being polite, not wanting to intrude but when it comes to Sam, he really isn't so caring about it. It's with relief in his face that he all too quickly comes inside, peering around with concerned eyes that eventually land back to him.

"Sam, are you alright? " The way he acted was more like himself, quiet and tending to be solitary -- not something Sam should be.

The smile, so forced, was the most unnatural thing for Samwise to have. His smiles were always meant genuinely, even in the darkest of hours. Not like this. This strained smile he tried to withold from him. Was this how Sam felt, when he tried to smile for him?

It wouldn't do. It wouldn't do at all.

Frodo's expression sobered further.

"I know that very well, Sam. But if there's anything I've learned from traveling with you, that it won't do to withhold things from a friend."

Would Sam let him bear some of his burdens just as he did his? He hoped so.

"This behavior..it's not like you, Sam."

The look on his face spoke volumes. It was the look he always gave him when he saw him slowly crushed beneath the weight of the burden. Sam had come from a time where he had been free of it, --( free of the Ring? it was hard to imagine now ).

It made his stomach tighten seeing that look once again.

Yet the words spoken made him go even more quiet; puzzled. "But why would that concern you Sam? You were fine when we separated -- thought it took me some time to find you. " The idea of someone like Sam dying was almost impossible to imagine -- or perhaps it was because Frodo couldn't bear it if it actually happened.
