Characters: Legolas ([personal profile] bow_of_the_galadhrim) and OPEN
Setting: Forest floor, slightly backdated to after the droning plot
Format: prose to start, will match you
Summary: Legolas is pissed and lacking confidence in himself now.
Warnings: Nothing but I'll update if anything comes up.

The elf drew back an arrow, pulling the string taut and releasing in quick succession. Each arrow struck the farthest tree from him with inhuman accuracy, each one close enough to another that it was hard to differentiate them from the distance. And he didn't stop, not until his quiver was empty. And then he dropped his bow where he stood and when to recover the arrows, returned and did the same all over again.

If anyone didn't know better, it would seem almost like he was in a trance. He didn't make a single sound as he worked. He didn't need the practice with his bow but he didn't want to not practice. And each arrow he shot, he was visualizing the various administrators. He'd never killed a sentient being before and never considered it but now he was completely without remorse for his own thoughts. Orcs he didn't consider sentient because they lived solely to obey Sauron or Morgoth, they were stupid and confused without them.

He was not their toy. He would not let them make him feel so weak or worthless again. He was the prince of the Woodland Realm, friend to Gimli, one of the Nine Walkers who had chosen to free the world of Sauron.Just thinking of having been Jason's plaything, of being subservient to any of them, a pang of white hot rage flowed through him and he grabbed three arrows, drawing them back together and firing. Watching as they struck the tree together, each one above the other.

Haldir's gloomy demeanor changed drastically once Legolas called of him. He had feared that Legolas wouldn't want to see him now, but he was clearly wrong about that. Within an instance, they've wrapped each other in a loving embrace. "You could never hurt me." Haldir muttered as he nuzzled his cheek against Legolas.

"Dhe melin.” He whispered into his beloved’s ear before gently kissing the pointy tip. Haldir pulled away somewhat so he could get a good look of him. All the joy that Legolasf used to cherish seemed to have left him these days. The light within his eyes have grown dim and his very essence felt so melancholy. It hurt Haldir to see his lover in such a state, but he felt so powerless to change it.

“Bare no shame, please.” He pleaded with Legolas before pressing his lips to his cheek. “You were not yourself, my love. They played a horrible trick upon you and others.” Of course he means the Administrators. “Only know despair and hate. They want us to suffer for their amusement.” Haldir said as he gently brushed back some of the blond strands of hair that fallen over Legolas’ s eyes.

“They want to break us but we can’t let them.”

A blissful sigh escaped Haldir's lips once Legolas kissed him. Despite all the horrors he's faced here in Animus; Haldir was honestly somewhat content. As long as they stayed united in both love and spirit, nothing could harm them. Haldir would sacrifice eternity itself if he had to for Legolas's sake. He's also certain that Legolas would do the same for him. This is why he's still capable of moving on despite all the despair and sorrow.

Haldir was just about to pledge his undying love till Legolas suddenly pried out a silver chain with two matching rings at the end. The march warden blinked his eyes rapidly. "You will give me your strength?" He repeated almost dumbly due to his shock. It only took him mere seconds to realize what Legolas meant by that.

"Oh, no." He suddenly blurted out. "Legolas, we cannot."

Haldir's eyes could barely focus upon Legolas's face for they lingered upon the silver rings he carried. Did the young elf truly understand what he was offering him? It's utterly uncommon for two men to wed even amongst Elvenkind and let us not forget that Legolas hails from nobility. He is the Elvenking and the rightful Prince of Mirkwood. Haldir has no fancy titles to boast. He's simply a march warden hailing from the celestial realm of Lothlórien. There's no way that they're union would be allowed even amongst their kind for these facts alone. Yet, Haldir found himself drawn to the idea of marrying Legolas too appealing for his own good. No one will approve of them being united in such a way, but did he care?

The silver haired elf slowly stepped forward when Legolas retreated. His hands reached to cup the side of Legolas's as he spoke in quiet whispers. "You should be more careful as to whom you give your heart to, my love. I just might take it and keep it for myself." Haldir said before pulling Legolas into a tight embrace.

When Legolas returned his embrace, Haldir nearly forgotten all about the woes he faced here in this god forsaken tower. He let out such a content sigh as he leaned in a little more into Legolas's grasp. A great burden was lifted from his shoulders. Haldir had always feared that his love for the Prince of Mirkwood would lead him to ruin. Even after gaining a glimpse or two of their future together, Haldir still refused to believe a word of it. He always assumed that Legolas would fall out of love for him for another. He always assumed the worst to befall upon them both. The march warden didn't hold much faith in their relationship until now. All of the fears he previously had faded without a second thought.

"And I cannot without you." He whispered softly before mumbling a few words in Sindarin. "Anthon 'ûr nîn anden." Haldir was certain that Legolas understood the meaning of his words as clear as day.

The question dragged Haldir out of his blissful state and back into the moment again. There is Legolas standing before him with two silver rings within his palm. The faint gleam of the rings within the dull light made them sparkle with an ethereal glow. Haldir stared at the rings for a moment before bring his gaze back to Legolas. Never before has he seen the eyes of his beloved rival the same majestic gleam of the sun. It almost brought a tear to his eye.

"You may." He answered Legolas with no hesitation in his voice. While the Elves take on marriage is slightly different when compared with mortals; both cultures share similar ideas. The only difference is that unlike humans, Elves are completely emotionally, physically, and spiritually bound to their partners. Humans could easily fall out of love as quickly as they fall in love. Elves cannot do such things.

Rúmil and Orophin often would joke that their eldest brother was most unsuited for marriage out of the three of them. Neither would believe their eyes if they were to see their brother now. Haldir almost couldn't believe his eyes either as he stared down at the silver ring around his finger. No one would've guessed that this Elf of Lothlórien would find himself a soulmate. Not even Eru himself could have possibly foreseen such a destiny upon a foreign land.

The march warden's gaze wavered from the silver ring and towards its twin. It is then that a smile comes to his face. "I've grown too used of hearing stories of how rings bring about disaster." Haldir muttered as he took the second ring within his hand. "I almost forgotten what their true purpose meant." Offering Legolas another delighted smile, Haldir soon slipped the silver band around the prince's finger.

"And with that we are bound."

Haldir couldn't help but offer Legolas a sly smirk. "Merely formality, you claim? Does this mean I already swayed your heart long before?"

A sense of pride washed over him knowing that Legolas was truly in love with him. Before the two of hem announced their fondness for each other, Haldir had sworn that the prince showed favor in Zelda. As much as he honestly joked about the alleged scandalous liaisons between the two, Haldir honestly wasn't keen on the idea. It was a joke that grew too popular amongst the masses.

"Careful, Legolas." He whispered as he raised Legolas's hand to his lips. "You feed my ego by stating such truths."

Of course Haldir already knew of Legolas's love and admiration for him. He just wanted to hear the young prince say it. Hearing Legolas declare his love for him does wonders for his spirit. It boosts his morale and makes him want to sing from morning to night. He even felt a tad giddy now. It's amazing how love could heal the wounds of yesterday with the promise of a blissful tomorrow.

"Yet that does not mean I wish not hear such affections muttered by you." Haldir said as he leaned forward to leave an innocent kiss upon Legolas's lips. "I would like to hear them as often as possible."
