Characters: Legolas (
bow_of_the_galadhrim) and OPEN
Setting: Forest floor, slightly backdated to after the droning plot
Format: prose to start, will match you
Summary: Legolas is pissed and lacking confidence in himself now.
Warnings: Nothing but I'll update if anything comes up.
The elf drew back an arrow, pulling the string taut and releasing in quick succession. Each arrow struck the farthest tree from him with inhuman accuracy, each one close enough to another that it was hard to differentiate them from the distance. And he didn't stop, not until his quiver was empty. And then he dropped his bow where he stood and when to recover the arrows, returned and did the same all over again.
If anyone didn't know better, it would seem almost like he was in a trance. He didn't make a single sound as he worked. He didn't need the practice with his bow but he didn't want to not practice. And each arrow he shot, he was visualizing the various administrators. He'd never killed a sentient being before and never considered it but now he was completely without remorse for his own thoughts. Orcs he didn't consider sentient because they lived solely to obey Sauron or Morgoth, they were stupid and confused without them.
He was not their toy. He would not let them make him feel so weak or worthless again. He was the prince of the Woodland Realm, friend to Gimli, one of the Nine Walkers who had chosen to free the world of Sauron.Just thinking of having been Jason's plaything, of being subservient to any of them, a pang of white hot rage flowed through him and he grabbed three arrows, drawing them back together and firing. Watching as they struck the tree together, each one above the other.

"I find that I cannot help myself." He thought it better to be angry and ready to fight than broken and subservient. Haldir, he was sure, would understand that better than most. "I'm glad I did not hurt you."
It would have absolutely destroyed the prince to have hurt Haldir.

"Dhe melin.” He whispered into his beloved’s ear before gently kissing the pointy tip. Haldir pulled away somewhat so he could get a good look of him. All the joy that Legolasf used to cherish seemed to have left him these days. The light within his eyes have grown dim and his very essence felt so melancholy. It hurt Haldir to see his lover in such a state, but he felt so powerless to change it.
“Bare no shame, please.” He pleaded with Legolas before pressing his lips to his cheek. “You were not yourself, my love. They played a horrible trick upon you and others.” Of course he means the Administrators. “Only know despair and hate. They want us to suffer for their amusement.” Haldir said as he gently brushed back some of the blond strands of hair that fallen over Legolas’ s eyes.
“They want to break us but we can’t let them.”

"Ci velethron nîn. Annon 'ûr nîn angin." Came his reply, voice soft as he tried to express just how much he cared for Haldir. How much he loved him. Biting his lip carefully at the kiss to the tip of his ear, a spot very sensitive for the younger elf, he leaned against the other.
"I will never break for them. And I will never let them do anything that might bring harm to you." He had suffered enough for becoming one of their drones. What should have completely destroyed him had only made him more determined, tempered him. Whatever followed would only strengthen his resolve.
"And I will give you what strength I can when they try again." Kissing Haldir lightly, he reached to a chain he'd been keeping around his neck. Two silver rings hung from it, the chain long enough that they always sat directly over his heart.

Haldir was just about to pledge his undying love till Legolas suddenly pried out a silver chain with two matching rings at the end. The march warden blinked his eyes rapidly. "You will give me your strength?" He repeated almost dumbly due to his shock. It only took him mere seconds to realize what Legolas meant by that.
"Oh, no." He suddenly blurted out. "Legolas, we cannot."
no subject
"I would give you anything." And he meant it. If it was his to give, he would. He watched Haldir carefully after he brought out the rings, his expression falling as Haldir spoke again. Suddenly, the feelings he'd fought since his brainwashing had ended threatened to overwhelm him. Taking a breath, Legolas stepped back and lowered his head.

The silver haired elf slowly stepped forward when Legolas retreated. His hands reached to cup the side of Legolas's as he spoke in quiet whispers. "You should be more careful as to whom you give your heart to, my love. I just might take it and keep it for myself." Haldir said before pulling Legolas into a tight embrace.

He was caught by surprise as Haldir followed him, turning his eyes up to look into Haldir's. It was hard for him to believe when Haldir's words reached him, a sudden doubt gripping his heart until he was pulled to the march warden. Slowly, he raised his arms and returned it, holding tightly as he released a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. He held on longer than he should have but not nearly as long as he wanted to.
"I am being more careful than I ever have been. I don't regret making this offer to you, I want you to keep it. I cannot be happy without you."
no subject
"And I cannot without you." He whispered softly before mumbling a few words in Sindarin. "Anthon 'ûr nîn anden." Haldir was certain that Legolas understood the meaning of his words as clear as day.

"My Haldir, my beloved Haldir." He smiled and leaned back to look into his eyes and them kissed him before pulling the chain from around his neck and placing both rings in his palm. They were warm, rarely leaving their spot over his heart and took one in hand while reaching for Haldir's.
"May I?"
no subject
"You may." He answered Legolas with no hesitation in his voice. While the Elves take on marriage is slightly different when compared with mortals; both cultures share similar ideas. The only difference is that unlike humans, Elves are completely emotionally, physically, and spiritually bound to their partners. Humans could easily fall out of love as quickly as they fall in love. Elves cannot do such things.

He couldn't even find words to express how he was feeling right now but he was sure that Haldir knew. Haldir knew him better than anyone in the tower, they could call out to each other from entirely separate floors. If Haldir didn't know, he'd have to show him.

The march warden's gaze wavered from the silver ring and towards its twin. It is then that a smile comes to his face. "I've grown too used of hearing stories of how rings bring about disaster." Haldir muttered as he took the second ring within his hand. "I almost forgotten what their true purpose meant." Offering Legolas another delighted smile, Haldir soon slipped the silver band around the prince's finger.
"And with that we are bound."

"These rings, I promise, will bring us nothing but luck and happiness." He'd crafted them so carefully, let no one see or touch them except himself and now Haldir. He hadn't even told anyone about the existence of these rings, so there was no way for anyone to influence their meaning.
With the twin ring slipped onto his own finger now, Legolas glanced at his hand a smile before taking a hold of Haldir's a squeezing carefully.
"I was already bound to you. This is merely a formality." He smiled and brushed a hand through Haldir's hair. The anger and frustration he'd felt earlier had melted away, replaced with a calm he'd almost forgotten he could feel.

A sense of pride washed over him knowing that Legolas was truly in love with him. Before the two of hem announced their fondness for each other, Haldir had sworn that the prince showed favor in Zelda. As much as he honestly joked about the alleged scandalous liaisons between the two, Haldir honestly wasn't keen on the idea. It was a joke that grew too popular amongst the masses.
"Careful, Legolas." He whispered as he raised Legolas's hand to his lips. "You feed my ego by stating such truths."

After all, it had been Haldir he called out to that day. Haldir had been the one to console him after Gimli's disappearance. Haldir who had helped him to survive Ruana's cruel little game of hunting candy. Others had helped him in his time here but Haldir had been his anchor, the one person he could rely on and who understood how hard he tried.
"If you know them to be truths than I can't feed your ego any more than I already have."
no subject
"Yet that does not mean I wish not hear such affections muttered by you." Haldir said as he leaned forward to leave an innocent kiss upon Legolas's lips. "I would like to hear them as often as possible."

"Then shall I mention how your hair reminds me of moonlight and of the stars? How simply being close to you reminds me of home and make me feel safe? That you are the one that can draw me out of my darkest despair?" He lightly pressed his lip back against Haldir's, giving a light and playful nip.
