On the date of Walpurgisnacht
Characters: Madoka and OPEN
Setting: All over the tower, then Madoka's Barrier
Summary: Madoka becomes a bit sad following Homura leaving the tower and does her best to coping with the loss of a close friend and all the other horrible things that have been going on as of late.
Warnings: Suffering, Madoka fighting monsters, Gretchen being Gretchen.
[It had taken sometime for the news to reach Madoka's ears, but it still stung just as hard as it would have in the past to hear that Homura had been spirited away to whence she came. Just when they were beginning to become friends and she may have finally learned just why the raven-haired girl cared so much about her own well being. It was a different kind of frustrating then dealing with Gretchen's constant mental attacks and questions of mortality and morality, and hit the young magical girl/witch in the deepest depths of her heart.
Unable to resign herself to simply moping over the loss of a friends, Madoka instead chose to work off her feelings in a productive manner: slaying the various monster that inhabited the tower in an attempt to stave off her own eventual evolution into a full fledged witch and, for a time, quiet Gretchen's need for being surrounded by death and stillness.
It didn't really matter what she fought or even where, so long the exertion of doing so was enough to tire her to the point that she no longer could angst over Homura or anything else for that matter.]
[Later, after washing off the muck that had stained her black gown during the various conflicts with monsters, Madoka retreats to her room to be alone for a while. However, as she quickly remembers it will be unlikely she will find solitude within the dorms, her instincts as a witch come to one conclusion, if she truly wished to hide from others, it would be best to retreat to the confines of her barrier. Marking the strange spaces entrance on a wall somewhere within the dorms, Madoka slips inside after checking that no one is watching.
The space itself is no bigger then Madoka's room back home, being she isn't powerful enough to generate anything bigger, and populated by strange floating chairs and portraits of her friends and family drawn in a distorted and slightly disturbing manner.]

Hello...?
[Cautiously, she starts to approach the glowing symbol]

Not far from the small room's entrance, Madoka sits on what appears to be a bed. Her back turned to the wall behind her, she cuddles against a rather strange looking stuffed animal while her thoughts lay else where.]
no subject
Ah, Madoka? What are you doing in here?
no subject
I just wanted to be alone for awhile, that's all.

[She looks around]
So, then... this is your barrier?
no subject
[Madoka hugs her stuffed animal close to her chest, this was clearly a fact she was not all that proud of.]
I only learned that I could create a barrier recently. But I avoid doing it because it usually causes me more trouble then its worth.
no subject
Ah, well... I'm just glad that its yours, and not a real witch! I mean, that you might be in danger.

[Madoka giggled awkwardly.]

So it's without even an instant of hesitation, Kyoko sets off to get an answer out of Madoka, swiftly entering the barrier.]

The barrier itself was a distorted image of it's owners innermost thoughts. Filled with mementos of her friends and family it would be quite clear to anyone what was most important to Madoka.
Kyoko would find Madoka sitting on something resembling a bed, crying into the chest of an over-sized stuffed animal.]

That's Kyoko's first thought upon entering the barrier. Her ideals are far too naive, her concerns too honest. If she hadn't contracted, she certainly would have been able to live a happy life, eating good food with her family every day and going on without any concerns.
But it's too late now and so, all Kyoko can do is walk over to the bed-like fixture, unceremoniously plopping down next to Madoka and placing her hand to her head. She ruffles Madoka's hair, gives a crooked grin.]
Oi, oi, don't tell me you're crying again! You're gonna start a flood one of these days, y'know.
[Her words are a bit harsh, perhaps, but her tone remains light. She's trying to tease Madoka, really--to try to pull even a bit of a smile of her.]
no subject
That's not nice, Kyoko! I'm just a little sad over Homura leaving...
no subject
Hah, I know what you mean. That girl's so insensitive, just up and taking off on her own like that.
(ooc: i'm sorry this is so late! ;; i've been sick. i'll understand if you don't feel up to continuing it!)
