Floor 100
Characters: Yata and you! (intended for Fushimi (
knifeinthe ) but others are welcome to tag in!)
Setting: Floor 100
Format: Prose, will match!
Summary: Yata visits floor 100 and guess what he sees? (spoiler: It's not what he expects it to be at all)
Warnings: Yata and Fushimi angst. Possible general angst. Yata also has a bit of a potty mouth.
Yata had at least glanced at every floor in this tower during the few months he's stayed here, save for the last one. Since there wasn't much going on at the moment and that he'd heard the 100th floor wasn't life threatening, he figured the last floor could be worth a trip. After the long elevator ride, he finally reached his destination. He'd heard that this floor would show you whatever you missed the most about your home world, and since he was kind of missing his beloved Homra bar, he thought it might be nice to go take a look. He was kind of worried that seeing the bar would open up the metaphorical can of worms that was homesickness, but he was a big boy and trusted himself to handle it. He was positively excited to see Kusanagi's imported bar that he'd once had to apologize for throwing Kamamoto against it. He could hardly stand the wait.
However, as he stepped out onto the floor, the room did not show him an empty Homra bar. It instead showed him a small, empty alley that was the back of the bar. He knew from the graffiti that it was he exact same place that his former friend had betrayed him and (as far as Yata was concerned) that his friendship wasn't good enough and he was basically worthless because he felt a deep connection to Red Clan. Not only was Yata disappointed that he wasn't going to get to see his favorite place again, he was enraged that whatever trick this room had considered this place what he missed most from his home world. It might as well show him the rooftop that Totsuka died on, too, for all the help showing him places where painful things happened that he couldn't change with all the wishes in the world were to him.
"What the fuck is this? I don't miss this fucking place, or that shitty monkey."

"Though." He attempts to scuff the edge of his boot against a lamppost, and makes a face when it just passes through again. "I won't turn down a fight, either."

Yata scratches his head in bewilderment.
"Don't get me wrong, you're one the last people I wish was in this tower, but is a fight what you want? I'm gonna be honest with you on something I've been thinking."
He's definitely not about let go of all the bitterness between the them, but thanks to a previous conversation with a tower resident and something that's been on his mind, he's not going to leap into a fight like normal, simply because his curiosity is too strong and this room seemed to be pushing it along.
"Have you realized we're the only two left from our world? None of Homra or your Blues are here. It's just the two of us. Doesn't that seem...well, I don't know...some kind of message, or at least a little? Look at this room. It's saying something but I don't really get the details."
Don't be fooled into thinking he's completely calm just because he's not yelling- he's still pretty tense and ready to start swinging in a moment's notice should the other respond with provocation.
