001 ♫ nothing but lies and broken wings
Characters: One money-hungry puppeteer and you!
Setting: Room 01-17/dorm level 1, floor 100, floor 2, floor 4, around the Tower
Format: Action tags to start! But I will follow you.
Summary:"Tokunaga, I've a feeling we're not in Auldrant anymore." Anise wakes up and discovers that the world she's in definitely isn't home. Of course, this means exploring.
Warnings: Nothing in particular for now!
Room 01-17/Dorm Level 1
[Anise can't move at first, but - she's surprisingly okay with that. The bed is infinitely more comfortable than camping out on the ground is, and for the thirty seconds that she's unable to move, she can almost convince herself that this is just some weird dream.
Then she can move again; she rolls over - out of the bed - and hits the ground with a thud.]
Ow...
[A moment passes. She untangles herself from the blankets and looks down -]
What the HELL is this?!
[...well, that was definitely loud enough to wake any unfortunate roommates. In fact, it probably carried out to the rest of the floor or at least the nearest rooms, too. It's okay if it didn't, though, because a very displeased Fon Master Guardian will stalk out into the hallway a moment or so later, glowering as she takes in her surroundings.]
Floor 100
[Her initial confusion over and done with, Anise has found her usual clothing in her trunk and has decided to start exploring. She takes the stairs two at a time, and as a result doesn't get pulled into the hanging gardens - rather, her first non-dormitory floor is the hundredth.
And what a surprise it is - she can't help but stop and stare in shock at the sight of the Daathic cathedral. Maybe this is how it's supposed to be - a reminder of everything the Order of Lorelei was supposed to have stood for, a reminder of the person she was supposed to have protected, a reminder of the oaths she took and ultimately broke.
But what if it's more than a reminder? What if...
Before Anise is even aware of what she's doing, she's running from the stairs and onto the floor.]
Florian! Papa, Mama! ...Maestro Tritheim...?
[All people who would likely never answer her call again.]
Floor 02
[After the shock of seeing an image of Daath, Anise had marched right back up the stairs and opted to take the elevator the rest of the way down. She didn't want any more surprises like... that.
For now, she skips the cafeteria - she's not really hungry - and takes the stairs up. Exploring from the bottom up rather than the top down seems like a good idea to her, and it's not long before she's poking around the infirmary like she owns the place.
She doesn't even recognize what half these things are supposed to do, but they seem useful. Kind of. Maybe if she keeps looking she'll figure out what they are.]
Floor 04
[Anise is standing at the wall furthest from the stairs, looking out at the ground below her.
It's hard to see - fog or smog or whatever it is, she can't see through it, and that bothers her. What could be out there, she wonders? She hasn't been able to find any real exit while she's been walking around. Is whatever's out there so dangerous that it has to be locked out?
Or... are they just locked in?
The thought bothers her, and in one smooth motion, she pulls Tokunaga down from her back. Moments later, she's on his back and is directing him to pound at the glass in a futile attempt to break it. She can jump! She's survived falls from greater heights.
...someone should probably tell her that's not going to work.]
Around the Tower - you pick!
[It's important to be acquainted with one's surroundings, so Anise doesn't waste any time in exploring. The only floors she's really going to make an effort to avoid are the hundredth and the thirteenth; all in all, the cathedrals are a little too close to home for her right now.
She can be found in the elevator, going up and down the stairs, and examining anything and everything that might be of interest to her. On the floors where her powers aren't suppressed, she'll usually be riding around on Tokunaga. Particularly if there are lots of monsters about.]

[As for the rest, he'll let her compose herself a bit and ask an actual question. There's nothing he really can answer in the rest; yes, it's him, grumpiness made flesh, there's no need to act so surprised.]
The tower and collars both are impervious to any kind of attack.
[Which probably meant they were made of the same material, but who knew.]
no subject
[Perhaps it wouldn't be so surprising to see the incarnate of grumpiness himself if she hadn't been led to believe that he'd died. Then again, maybe she should have stopped being surprised about dead people walking after running into Ion.]
Ugh! Talk about a real pain. Sounds more like we're prisoners, not their guests.
[All grumbling aside, she eyes Asch warily after a moment.]
...how long have you been here? Did you just get here too? [Because for her, his death hadn't been that long ago...]
no subject
[If she's new, he'll assume she hasn't seen those floor yet, where the entire Tower is supported only by winding stairs and the shaft of the elevator.]
We are prisoners. [It's a sharp change in tone, loathing and despairing all at once.] I've been here a bit more than five of their calendar months.
[With Guy disappearing, that means he's the only one aside from Luke who's been here for a full cycle of the administrators. Considering that puts him on his guard again.]
no subject
[His assumption is correct - she hasn't made it that far up yet. She stares at him for a moment or two, actually speechless for once, before Asch's words and the tone he speaks them in registers on her.]
Five months? No way. That's not possible. It hasn't been five months since you-- [She can't say it.] ...since the last time I saw you.
no subject
Just accept now that it won't make sense. There's no logic in how the Tower pulls people from their worlds.
no subject
[Just to vent some of her frustration, she's going to have Tokunaga punch the glass wall again. Yeah, she feels a little better now.]
If you know so much about how this place works, then tell me about it!
[...that would probably work better if you were requesting and not demanding, Anise.]
no subject
All the Tower takes from people's worlds are their souls, and the administrators place everyone in replica bodies. Because of this, they have little concern about what happens to us - if you die, they'll simply put you in a new body and you'll wake up in your bed the next morning.
[There's more, about the experiments and such, but the idea of death not being permanent is enough to adjust to as it is.]
From Auldrant, there's me, two of Luke, Tear, your Ion, the original Ion, and now you. Guy and Jade were here, but they've disappeared.
no subject
[There are simply not enough words for Anise to express her confusion. She stares at Asch for a few seconds, shakes her head as if trying to convince herself that she didn't just hear what she'd heard, and then leans forward.]
How is any of that possible?! How - who - ... what the hell!
[Don't mind her as her brain works overtime trying to process all of this.]
This is really, really messed up! I don't...
[She bites her lip.]
...Ion. How long has Ion been here?
no subject
Yours?
[He assumes that it's the replica she cares about, at least.]
A bit over a month. The original has only been here a few days.
no subject
You guys have been looking out for him, right? Since I wasn't here to do it?
no subject
[As much as they can take care of anyone in this place. Not much they can do against Jason and the like.]
I've been teaching him to cook a bit, actually.
[Possible incoming overprotective explosion?]
no subject
[Anise sounds relieved. She may not be as close to Asch as some, but between him, two Lukes, and everyone else, Ion's been in good hands for the past month.
She quirks an eyebrow at his next words, though.]
Really? How's that going? [She can think of a million ways cooking could go wrong... there's just the faintest edge to her voice, now.] You haven't let him chop off a finger or anything, have you?
[She swears to Lorelei, if Ion has stabbed himself with a kitchen knife, Asch is a dead man.]
wow I thought I posted this last night
Don't be stupid.
[A small growl - he might not be a gentle teacher but he's not a completely useless one.]
haha no worries, it happens!
[She flinches as she imagines it: The knife dropping, slicing into skin instead of meat or fruit or vegetable or whatever else Ion was trying to prepare. That's definitely not going to happen if she has her way.]
It's not like he'd try to hurt himself or anything! But it happens sometimes. [And though she knows that sometimes it's inevitable, she's still got a look in her eyes that says she'll be holding his teacher responsible if he gets hurt during a lesson.]
You better make sure he doesn't get cut or anything, or else!
no subject
He'll be fine. Observe if it makes you happier.
[What is he getting himself into...]
no subject
[Congratulations, Asch, you've added another member to your group. Though she might be more of a hindrance than a help, considering how she's going to be dogging your footsteps to make sure nothing happens to Ion.
If he so much as stubs his toe...]
Thanks for the invite! ❤

Oh well, at least he didn't tell her that he intends to give the kid fighting training, too.]You're welcome.
[It's mostly not sarcastic.]
